Reg Evans Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 I'm cleaning up the garage a little and guess I'll never use this oil pan. Anyone need it for just the shipping? Hate to scrap it. Looks like it was boiled out but then got surface rusty. Slight shelf wear.....very rare....one of a kind.....might be NOS......great deal at 1/2 the cost.....near mint......don't pass this once in a life time deal up PLEASE....I'm tired of tripping over it. BobT-47P15 Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 And of course, the next question is: what do it go on? I don't need it, just trying to stir something up. Quote

Don Coatney Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Reg; Although I do not know what it fits perhaps you could have the taxi driver drop it off when he finally swings by! I have wasted the past several years of my life waiting by my mail box for your taxi (that is no longer a taxi) to give me a lift for a reasonable fare:D :D Quote

Reg Evans Posted December 21, 2006 Author Report Posted December 21, 2006 No flat head Ford V8's here. I don't really remember where this pan came from. I think it was in some old Mopar I dragged home so I assumed it was Mopar. I'll ask my Bros. One has 38 Ford trucks and the other has 48 ford trucks. Over the years I've rescued both of them several times on the roadside and towed them over here for repairs with my Mopar 6. Hmmm. Quote
bmt47p-15 Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Do you have any pics looking down on it like it would fit on the engine. From the side it kinda looks like it could be small chevy may be early 265 283,but that oil filler tube is very different than any small block chevy pan I have seen. They put 265 283 and 327 in some combines so maybe that is the deal with the oil filler tube! Quote
Reg Evans Posted December 21, 2006 Author Report Posted December 21, 2006 Here's a photo of a Ford flattie oil pan. Still in pursuit of trivia I guess. I'll get a photo of the inside tomorrow bmt47p-15. Quote
Allan Faust Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 I could just imagine the seniority battles that flamed truck brings to whatever UPS depot its in.... Allan Quote
Guest jtw3749c Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 this type of oil pan looks like the one on the Dodge truck 49-53 vintage or maybe newer. I'll look tomorrow and see if that is what I have. Then again, it may be the one I'm looking for.?? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Reg's pan looks an awful lot like the one on my truck engine, which would make it for a late 40's - early 50's truck engine. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 That bolt on plate for inspection, screen cleaning out to be a give away..I am not familar with it though...lots of pans have the dip stick built in..continued practice way into the 70's as I have a 383 truck pan (rear sump) on the big block in the 41 Dodge ..also it is a 6 quart pan.. 47Plymouth Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 Looks like the oil pan on my 52 Pilothouse. Jerome Quote
Reg Evans Posted December 21, 2006 Author Report Posted December 21, 2006 You Pilot House guys nailed it. My truck has a 251 in it so I couldn't compare it to my engine. OK Don....now ya know what you're gettin !.......unless one of you Pilot House guys needs it. Quote
