dezeldoc Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Well looking through craigs list and came across this 50 Plymouth, Went to look at it and turns out a friend of mine was there, so I look at it while they unloaded a few motors. Turns out this thing is cleaner than the pics in the ad showed! Anyway the beast is at home now and on the way to getting on the road again after 38 years. Anyone have any info on this style of car let me know please. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Nice find, Doc. There are two or three of those floating around the forum. Quote
fadingfastsd Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 I just picked up the same model! And off of Craigslist as well! I love these 2 door fastbacks. Quote
1940plymouth Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 I wouldn't be ashamed to drive it the way it looks once the brakes where checked out and it was given a transfusion of new fluids. Great looking old Plymouth. Good luck with it. Quote
Johnny S Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Great lookin' car. Not too many of them around. Nice find. Quote
dezeldoc Posted August 17, 2008 Author Report Posted August 17, 2008 Well after a few hours of playin around the ol' girl came to life!! Seems to run pretty good, still need to do the brakes and a few other minor things but it's good to know it runs!! Quote
fadingfastsd Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Awesome! Keep us posted on this thing. My 51 is the exact same car, and I absolutely love it. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 P19 Concord...shorter wheelbase car, 111 inches..ride smoother than the 118 full sizers do..the car should also have the 3.74 rear gear...another plus..they are awesome looking cars with just a wax job on them. You have the start of a very nice car there..keep them pictures rolling in... This is listed only in deluxe trim and shares the same frame as the Suburban and the business coupe Quote
greg g Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Sheesh, these fastbacks and bustle butt Dodges are coming out of the woodwork lately. Must be a bout 10 posted between here and the HAMB over the past couple weeks. They are sharp looking cars, good to see them poppig up. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 yes the Concords and the Wayfarers are showing up in number...plus the great number of the wagons also...It is good that they are getting the attention they have long deserved. The number of copped tops are increasing...room for all... Quote
greg g Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Seems 40 and 50 MOPARS are gainin in popularity lately. Orphans are finally getting their props. Quote
dezeldoc Posted August 17, 2008 Author Report Posted August 17, 2008 Yep, I've always had a thing for rhe oddball cars, kinda like taking in a stray dog no one wants, a little food and water and they turn into the perfect dog everyone wants!! Heck anyone can own and drive a Chebby or Ford but a Mopar thats a different story! Quote
brian hood Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Cool Pict's!!! Thanks for sharing them. Brian Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Had a maroon one of those fastbacks for a while back in the 1970s. Sold it to a local fellow who drove it for a time. He then sold it to someone..... and it left the ountry. Every old car I've ever sold has left town and none has turned up again in this area. It would be interesting to see what someone else had done to improve them, but guess I'll never know their fate. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Bob, I sold a '52 Cranbrook 19 years ago that got sold last week on eBay. The seller was the same guy I sold it to....he had it all these years. You can never tell when one of your old cars will pop up and say 'howdy'! Quote
RobertKB Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Great looking car and as someone else said it looks driveable once the safety issues are addressed. Lots of them and the wagons showing up which is nice as more people will appreciate these cars. Only bad point is that prices for parts will likely go up and affect us all. Doubt they will ever be as popular as the Chevs and Fords. Quote
blueskies Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Nice find! Other than the body type (fastback) and wheel base, and associated trim bits, it is the same as my car, http://www.50plymouth.com. I have one NOS rear stainless steel fender spear that I have not yet put up on ebay, if you are interested. These trim pieces are longer than the regular bodied cars by a couple of inches, and harder to find. Pete Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 I believe these rear spears are inthe vicinity of 51 inches in length...could you measure and psot the exact length please... Quote

The NOS trim I have is 51" long. The trim is the same left and right for the '50 model year, so this piece will fit either side.
