  1. Welcome to old car heaven Don. Nothing is better after a bad day at work to hit the highway in my old car. Makes everything better. Got any pics of that interior yet? Anxious to see how well it turned out.
  2. Thanks Brendan. I just realized I started a thread on this two weeks ago and had several answers. Guess I forgot about it. I plan on going to the parts store tomorrow to find a flasher. Will go to Napa and get one on Monday if I can't find one.
  3. Ok, I've converted my car to 12 volt negative ground. I have a 6 Volt turn signal flasher on the car. I figured I would need to change to a 12 volt flasher. First, do I need to change, will the 6 volt work? If so where or what kind of 12 volt flasher will fit my car. Need a 3 pole flasher.
  4. Thanks for the help. I got it figured out, I had a bad solenoid. Bought the first one off Ebay, that was my mistake. Got one from a parts store in town and it worked fine. Cost a bit more, but that is fine if it worked. I've got everything converted over and the only trouble I'm having is with the signal lights. Fuel gauge, starter, ignition, all works well.
  5. Alright so I have my Ford solenoid installed and I can't get the starter to kick over. I've got it connected correctly and when I push the starter button in, nothing happens. I've ran a test light from 12v positive to the post that the starter button wire connects to. Does not light, so I am assuming I don't have a good ground? Does it ground thru the mount bracket to the inner fender? That is where I'll have to check next.
  6. You're right. RJ and L were the sellers of the auction link you posted. I bought all my molding clips from them and used restoration specialties for other items. They both have similar products, but restoration specialties have a lot more useful products.
  7. There are several suppliers. Some that I have used are restoration specialties and RJ & L. http://www.rjlautofasteners.com/ http://www.restorationspecialties.com/
  8. That is a good question Don. There is some info from the main site about the 15C and the 15S. http://www40.addr.com/~merc583/mopar/framesets/referenceframeset.html
  9. That is actually close to St. Louis Bob. Terry lives close to Edwardsville, IL. Which is north of Collinsville and Fairview Heights. I'm not sure, but I think the Dairyland region is closer. Those in that club can confirm.
  10. Looks like you nailed it Young Ed. Another reason why you should be nominated for POC prez.
  11. Very nice. The digital dash looks great in that car too.
  12. I changed my battery to 8 volt for the same reason Jerry and had excellent results. I've decided to go ahead and change mine over to 12 volts now. If you find out it needs a regulator let me know. I bought mine off of ebay after the first one went out. Seller told me it was already set up for 8 volt. Never had a problem with it charging since then. Let me know if you are interested in it.
  13. Welcome to the forum Karl. Lots of good information on here. You'll learn more about your car here then you could anywhere else.
  14. Many parts options on the main site. http://www40.addr.com/~merc583/mopar/framesets/linksframeset.html Other than that try: http://www.robertsmotorparts.com http://www.oldmoparts.com http://www.kanter.com http://www.vintagepowerwagons.com
  15. Very nice looking convertible. Welcome to the forum. I like that you used the original column and steering wheel. Makes the car look really neat. So how did you adapt the column up to the updated transmission? I assume you had to make up your own linkage, etc?
  16. This is the stuff I used to use when I had whitewalls. Can buy it at most stores.
  17. I didn't see any problems with the ammeter in my car when I switched to 8 Volts. I had the voltage regulator adjusted so it would charge on the 8 volts. Is your charging system working properly?
  18. Looks like a pretty nice car. I'm not sure I would have went with the police car theme though. Otherwise it looks pretty clean.
  19. I found these on tirerack.com for about $82.00. I'm running 215/75R15, these are 215/75R16. You would probably need tubes as well. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Road+Venture+APT+KL51&partnum=175TR6KL51&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&place=3
  20. I ran front radial and rear bias for a few years. You shouldn't have any problems as long as you don't run bias/radial on the frt or rear. Just keep them seperated.
  21. i went to radials and do not regret it one bit. Had bias tires on both my Plymouth and Chevy truck for several years. Radials only for me for now on. I bought radial tires for about $75 each a few years ago. Now my P-15 has 15 in wheels, but I don't see why you couldn't get 16" tires.
  22. I know places like Autozone can test a starter for you, but be careful as they may say it tests out fine and not work at all in the car. I had them check and alternator for me that I bought there several years ago, wouldn't charge in the car, but passed their tests. Try to find a starter and alternator repair service. They can check it for you right there on the spot and can tell you exactly what is wrong with it. Once you figure out if your starter is good then you can turn to figure out what else might be wrong. Broken teeth on the flywheel ring gear or a stuck engine.
  23. Got some pics of the '47 Mark? Can't wait to see the finished product. Sounds like it is going to be very nice.
  24. So if it was 22 degrees outside what was the temp inside? How much heat do those canine heating units produce?
  25. I'd check to see if you have power coming into the solenoid and then out to the starter. Check and make sure your cables are okay and if all checks out you probably have a bad solenoid. I can get you a picture of the '49 wiring diagram if you need it. It helps in diagnosing these types of problems.
