Rodney you are right that would make a neat street rod. I don't think I've ever seen one like it street rodded. Looks like the body is in good shape. How are the floors?

Does your amp gauge move as well with the engine increase? I know that the generator will not charge at idle and will begin charging once you increase the rpm's. Usually my amp gauge discharges with the lights on until I get the rpms up on the engine. One other thing, I had a amp gauge that would bounce a lot. I replaced the voltage regulator and that fixed the bouncing problems.

I guess I'm with Dennis and if it can't be my P-15 it would be my '65 chevy truck. I've had it since I was 14 and 4 years after I got it I switched out the 6 banger for a 283. I have driven that truck all over the midwest and it has never left me stranded. It tried once when I had a fuel pump fail, but one of my friends had an electric once he loaned me to make it home. I was only about 40 miles from home at the time. I've driven it to Springfield, MO once, Memphis, TN 8 times, Nashville, TN once, Evansville, IN several times, and Piggott, AR twice now. It's been a good truck.

I notice on most cars the first year of the new model are the worst. Usually after the first year or so they work all the bugs out. My in laws had a '95 Cirrus as well and had lots of problems with it, I had an '88 Dodge Dynasty, it ran great, but had to put a head gasket, water pump, transmission, and cv joints in it. Grandpa bought a '97 Dodge Dakota new in early '97. It had all sorts of problems from a/c, gear shift broke off, paint peeling, and computer problems. That was the first year for the new body style Dakotas, or mini-ram as I call them. I haven't owned many GM's, but my experience has been pretty good. I've never owned a Ford, but my work cars are all Fords and they seem to hold up pretty good.

That is looking really nice Joel. Looks like you got a good helper there. Good help is hard to find these days, especially help that wears a spiderman jacket.

Well after reading numerous posts on the subject and talking with several good forum members out there who had put HEI in their cars I bit the bullet and ordered it. I received it on Friday and installed it that night at a friends house. I bought new spark plug wires of course, but kept the stock plugs in. Just set out the gap to .060. With the advice of several others I set the timing to 5 degrees advance and man does she run smooth. It fires right up without hardly touching the starter button. No matter if it is cold or hot. I drove it a lot this weekend and have to say I am very satisfied. Now after posting this I may start having problems with it, but so far it has met my expectations. I just wanted to share my thoughts on it as others have shared theirs.

I just checked the POC website to see if he was listed as a contact for any of the regions and he is not. Not sure, I googled Doug Jessups '47 Plymouth and did not get any info on him or his car.

Norm I have no idea what happened to that page. I used to enjoy it too. I think the guys name was Doug Jessup. I always confused his car with David Maxwell's car, they are both very nice.

Thanks for the info on the radio faceplates guys. Bigred I may take you up on that offer, let me know. I like others hated to cut up a radio that may still work. I've got several 802's I bought from a guy a few years ago. Just sitting in my garage. If anyone is interested in one let me know. I'm not sure how much it would cost to ship one, but I can find out.

Randy the wedding was actually this past Saturday. I will have to keep that in mind at the next wedding I'm asked to use the car. They will have to take their shoes off though before they put their feet on the dash.

I don't know Norm. Seems the last few I've seen on Ebay lately have gone pretty high. Plus this is a new one with a new LED light. Seems about right compared to the other lamps. I really like the looks of the lights, just can't afford to spend $400 in rear taillights and brake lights right now. That lighted hood ornament would be neat. Looking forward to seeing it.

No they are not mine. I was asked in October to drive some of my friends to the reception hall in my Plymouth. I got some of the pictures back and wanted to share. I thought the black and white ones looked pretty neat. Yes and that is me driving in the one pic. I was asked again this weekend to drive the car for another bride and groom. Friends of my family, so I was out doing other things and my Dad took the car. Said he had a good time, hopefully I'll get some pictures of that sometime soon. I didn't know I would come apart that way. Seems like I looked into doing that once and couldn't get the front face plate off. I'll have to check again.

I've got one of those Motorola radios and I have a chrysler radio. They are different like Norm mentioned. I've always wanted to put one in the car, but they are so heavy and bulky didn't see the need just for looks. I think it does make a neat addition to the dash.

Looks like you are making good progress there. I need to redo my front end too, but it will have to wait. Good luck with your project!

I'd like to have one of those lighters too Bob. I need to put one in the car since I converted it to 12 volt, it will make it handy to charge my cell phone, etc. I don't really want to put one in with a different knob though. I think it would deter the looks of the dash. Nice find though Bob. That car looks like there isn't much left of the floorboards and rockers.

I agree with you Bob and Rodney, not enough old mopars at the shows. I see one every once in a while, but the mopars that seem to always show up are the '60's and 70's models. I did go to a local swap meet this morning and in the car corral there was a 1948 Plymouth deluxe business coupe. Looked like a pretty nice car. Black and the for sale sign said it had 30k original miles. It ran good and the interior looked decent, paint wasn't that great. He was asking $6900 for it which I thought was a bit steep, but if he could prove it had an original 30,000 miles on it, it may be worth it. Of course I forgot to take my camera with me today. Hopefully I'll see the car in the future and get to speak with the owner. He had a local phone number so if he doesn't sell it by the time the shows all start up I may be able to meet him and invite him to this forum.

Doesn't seem to be a problem at all. I did paint the bottom of the trunk blue to match the car. Inside of the trunk and the floor is black. Vents window frames are all painted black on my car. If you don't like it you can always scuff it and paint it again when you decide on a color.

Good thing about doing it the way I did is that when you paint the car all you have to do it tape up to that seam and take off the hood. Then you can paint that part of the firewall with the rest of the car.

Speaking of accessories I bought this steering knob off of the guy that used to own the dodge. He had a Plymouth truck too at one time and took this off of it before he sold it. I always thought it was a neat item.

I painted about 90% of the under hood parts gloss black. The engine was out when I painted it and I didn't know what color I was painting my car at the time. I really liked the black as being dark it hides some of the bad spots.
