  1. Location says Florida but the two phone numbers are New York City area(646=cell, 516= Nassau County Long Island), and the seller is a 'zero'. Wonder if there's anything fishy going on around here.
  2. If the 'new' Chrysler brings back Plymouth, I might actually buy one to show my support. Anyone else feel this way?
  3. Sam's Club sells 6-volt Group 1 batteries. As of 2 nights ago, they were under $32. each in my local Sams.
  4. The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village are great places to visit. We went there five years ago and plan a return trip in the next couple of years. FWIW, the Model T's in use there were actually built a few years ago to the original design.
  5. My '54 Parts Book shows it to be p/n 1439748, used on 52-54 Plymouth and 53-54 Dodge...may also fit later years, but doesn't show in my book. Hope this helps. Harold
  6. Why do people keep butchering my beloved P23's?????
  7. If you make a nice acrylic copy of the Plymouth letters from your license light, maybe you can get it 'plastic chromed' to make it look original. And if it works, I'd do the same for MY '52 Cambridge.... PS: What are the details of your powdercoating fiasco?
  8. Someone in last week's Sunday paper here was advertising 12 of them for sale, along with some other old cars. If I didn't have such a poor track record of finishing what I start, I'd go look. Always liked those Metros....
  9. Various vendors sell the red 'Plymouth' tag as a repro. The other is the body number tag that is held on with two Phillips screws. Don't think anyone repops them. Is yours missing? I use the same product in the trans and rear end....80W90 gear oil if I remember correctly.
  10. When I was a kid, probably mid-1960's timeframe, I went to a car museum in Ellenville, NY and they had an orange Tucker on display. Museum is long gone, wonder about the car.
  11. Dennis, That's them. Morganville is about 14 miles up the road from me. Harold
  12. A few years ago there was a company a couple of towns away from me in New Jersey making repro Tuckers with modern drive trains (Olds Toronado, I think). The body molds were pulled from a real Tucker. I saw one in person at our local Cruise Night...it looked great. Don't know if they're still in business.
  13. I agree with Claybill...Wesley's and Armor All have done wonders for my tires as well.
  14. Two quick items: Have you checked the timing chain for correct tooth position and excessive slop? Bad timing can contribute to overheating. What if you refill with water and (gasp!) stop leak and see what happens. Just my 2 cents...a day late and a dollar short. Harold
  15. You're probably 85 miles from where I live. New Jersey is a lot bigger than most people think!
  16. Miss Belvedere is a prime candidate for POR-15...lots and lots of it. Just coat the inside of all the sheetmetal and it will firm it up and stop the rust all at the same time!
  17. It's a Cranbrook judging by the windshield stainless trim. Given my love for all things P23, I say buy it and save it. Rockers and floors are repro-ed and easy to get....just add money! With a modern drivetrain (and upgraded brakes) you'll have a nice cruiser. I'm in Freehold, where are you?
  18. What are those filters selling for nowadays?
  19. Y'know, this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. An article in this months Auto Restorer magazine explained that the vault was built using sprayed concrete a couple of days before the Plymouth was buried. Means lots of trapped moisture. If you think of the vault as a small 'basement', it seems foolish for it not to have been waterproofed just like one in a house. For all intents and purposes, the vault is a giant drywell, filled with a Plymouth instead of gravel. Again, no surprise at all. Just my 2 cents' worth.
  20. Anyone making them? If so, how difficult is it to transplant the hubs? Any info welcome. Thanks. Harold
  21. There's no denying that there are lots of valuable parts and cars getting scrapped daily. Maybe the problem is that the junkyard owners ARE businessmen and the collector/enthusiast demand is less than the scrap demand, so they sell into the more lucrative market. Cataloging and advertising cost money and the bottom line, from their perspective, is that the rate of return doesn't warrant the effort. Just my opinion.
  22. This '52 Cambridge with modern drivetrain was on eBay a while back. Looks interesting and the opening bid was reasonable, but located in NYS. Seller even states that the car can drive to Florida! eBay item number: 320112281621 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plymouth-cambridge-52-Plymouth-Cambridge-4dsd_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6387QQihZ011QQitemZ320112281621QQrdZ1
  23. Bravo! That's something to crow about!
  24. Sorry to hear about your accident. It's a shame you lost your Neon but a car can always be replaced but people can't. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Harold
