  1. From what I've seen, postwar Mopar into the fifties seem to be 'waking up' as far as popularity is concerned. Alos, I saw a nice original '54 Savoy in original light green rolling down the highway today. Looked pretty good!
  2. A few years back I bumped into a picture online of an Australian hearse based on a right-hand drive '52 Plymouth. Chugging off the the graveyard behind a flathead six...now that's a neat way to go!
  3. Ed, Check your PM's. Harold
  4. Allan, Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. There are brighter days ahead. Harold
  5. Here's a link to another upholstery supply company. Might be worth a look: http://www.perfectfit.com/default.asp
  6. Jeff, You can get an early-seventies Ford fuel filter that has male threads on the outlet side and a hose nipple on the inlet. The threads are a perfect match for the fuel line inlet on the pump, then you can put fuel hose on the inlet to the filter. I used this on a couple of my '52's and have recommended it to others on the board with good results.
  7. $650. is a really good price. Private seller?
  8. Crank Position Sensor magnets get weak on 3800's causing the engine to die when hot. You have to pull the harmonic balancer to replace, IIRC. Also the thin antitheft wires going to the ignition lock cylinder (PassKey II with the resistor on the key) break causing no-starts. There is a way around this...PM me and I'll explain. For what it's worth, my nephew got 300k out of his '87 Bonneville with a 3800.
  9. Chryslers take the Group 2 battery. It is physically larger than a Group 1 and has more Cold Cranking Amps to turn over larger engines.
  10. I didn't see any 6-volt Group 2's there. I've heard that farm supply stores still sell them.
  11. We were at Sam's this morning and I swung by the battery rack to look at the Group 1 batteries. I was there about 2 months ago and the price was $31.xx, up from the $29.95 it had been for several years. Today's price was $41.xx!! That's quite a jump in two months. Any rational reason for it (like lead or acid getting more expensive) or is it just greed?
  12. Our thoughts are with you.
  13. Our condolences to you at this difficult time. Harold and family
  14. I worked parts for Pep Boys for a couple of years. The biggest difference between Pep and the other chains is that each store has its own repair shop with it. Sort of a captive market for parts sales. One good thing Pep Boys did (or may still do, but I doubt it) is to require all the parts people to complete in-store training modules. I've always been a car guy, and I learned an awful lot of useful new information from the modules.
  15. My friend once told me his 'Rule of Garbage": If you make space by getting rid of stuff, more crap will magically appear to take its place. That's been my problem my whole life!
  16. I have some WIX 51035's that I bought new in the 1990's because I anticipated them going out of production. They made them for a lot longer than I thought they would! If you want one, PayPal me $25.00 and I'll send it out Parcel Post. PM me if interested. Harold
  17. '51 Plymouth in a zombie movie??? What's the title?
  18. I knew of one old-timer that would rinse the tank several times, then stuff a long piece of newspaper into the neck, light it, then run away. After the boom, no more fumes.
  19. How about a typo and it's really a '65 VIP?
  20. I saw this car for sale on a Long Island used car lot about 10 years ago. The rear fenders have filled seams where the welting was removed.
  21. Don, I accidentally put up the email link, then I changed it when I saw my error. Try it again, it should work. Harold
  22. Maybe someone here is interested. If you check it out, let us know! http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/car/392826868.html
  23. Location says Florida but the two phone numbers are New York City area(646=cell, 516= Nassau County Long Island), and the seller is a 'zero'. Wonder if there's anything fishy going on around here.
  24. If the 'new' Chrysler brings back Plymouth, I might actually buy one to show my support. Anyone else feel this way?
