  1. Seek and thou shalt find.... This beauty is still listed: http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/car/560056662.html
  2. I have towed a number of cars (including several old Plymouths) with a tow bar and the only trouble I had was with a P15 that would sway on bumps at highway speed after any dips or bumps in the road. Don't know why it happened but very scary when it did!
  3. Quick tip: use an open-end wrench to find tubing size...a 5/16" wrench fits 5/16" tubing snugly, etc.
  4. I've pulled rear fenders with the gas filler grommet still on, then pushed them out from the inside. You might want to consider an air-powered sander if you already have a compressor. Much lighter than electrics....less tiring.
  5. Good to see you got it going. When you get the bugs ironed out, you should come visit me in Freehold. My Cambridge wants to meet one of its cousins. Harold
  6. If the part is removable from the lock assembly, can you stick the broken piece onto it, then make a mold and cast it?
  7. I posted a bunch of stuff over on the AACA Buy/Sell board. Mostly non-flathead Mopar items with some Ford and GM mixed-in. Here's the link if anyone is interested: http://forums.aaca.org/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/484338#Post484338
  8. Looks like a simple one to track down if you're interested. Easy way is to send seller a message and see what happens. Inspector Clouseau way is to check the Yellow Pages or equivalent. How many 'Garrison Auto' places can there be in Garden City, Kansas?
  9. I remember a '51 or '52 Plymouth police car getting vaporized in the original movie. Bothered me even as a kid....
  10. I've bought stuff online that takes forever to get shipped and it is very annoying when that happens. When I sell something online...either eBay or other places...the item is in the mail within a day of me receiving payment. My belief is that the other person owns it and it's my responsibility to get it to them ASAP.
  11. Do you think the American Dairy Association can somehow tie that report in to an ad campaign? (I can't believe I just wrote this.....)
  12. For what it's worth, I met Andy over 30 years ago at a Chrysler meet in Pennsylvania. After that one brief encounter (a conversation on the show field) I vowed never to deal with him and never have. Harold
  13. Which swap meet?
  14. eBay has a stake in Craigslist and other classified websites that currently have free listings. My prediction: They will find a way to tack a fee onto these other websites to compensate for losses on eBay. Stay tuned.
  15. I just read the new eBay fee structure scheduled to begin on February 20th. In a nutshell, they dropped insertion fees for low-end items a nickel or a dime and raised the final value fee to 8.75% for items up to $25.00 selling price. From my perspective, this maneuver makes it very unattractive for sellers to list low-buck items on eBay, because the selling cost will take a much bigger bite out of the proceeds of the sale. This means a lot of useful items that could have been listed now won't be. Buyers and sellers both lose. Here's the link if you want to read more about it: http://pages.ebay.com/sell/update08/basic/index.html
  16. I knew I had it somewhere.... www.dpmotorparts.com Hope this helps. Harold
  17. Has anyone looked-up Mopar #1271436 -7 to see what they fit? Should answer the question of original application.
  18. Ed, You brought up a very good point. I had a similar experience many years ago. Back in the 1980's my friend and I flat-towed a '46 P15 from Wall Township (here on the Jersey Shore) to his home near Buffalo. I told him to pull in to the first service station we found to get the car up on a lift to check it out before pulling it 400 miles. He was reluctant to do so but finally gave in. With the car in the air, we discovered the oil pan was hanging by one bolt and the differential and transmission were bone dry. No telling what would have happened if the rear locked-up at highway speed. He thanked me afterward. Harold
  19. When I dropped the tank on my '52 Cambridge a number of years ago, I don't recall any sort of padding or insulation between the strap and the tank. It may be that the older cars had them but by '52 they eliminated them due to cost. There were lots of subtle changes between '51 and '52 Plymouths and many of them appear to have been made with an eye towards saving money. Harold
  20. I just bumped into this one by accident. Maybe someone here can use it: http://detroit.craigslist.org/car/549673095.html
  21. From my 1985 EIS catalog: Rear hose, '46-'49: SP790 Hope this helps. Harold
  22. Have you checked the road draft tube and oil cap mesh for clogging? Might be built-up crankcase pressure forcing the oil out.
  23. I'm surprised no one makes repro hose for the purists. Would you trust 30 year old hose under the hood of your restoration just because it says Mopar on it? I wouldn't!!
  24. It was about $200., give or take. This was around 1996.
  25. If you want to be really nit-picky, business coupes get 9" caps and the 118" wheelbase cars (DeLuxe or Cambridge) get 10" caps.
