  1. I've seen a lot of hype lately on HHO/ Brown's gas conversions. Has anyone here tried it? Are there any good websites out there (besides the infomercial ones) to check into it further? Inquiring minds need to know.....
  2. Looks like a steal at $500. Here's the link: http://redding.craigslist.org/car/660763578.html
  3. Looks good but I'd check the floors real carefully because the car is sunken into the dirt.
  4. I want to go (we've made about 17 out of the last 20 years or so) but a distant relative is getting married next weekend so I'm shut out.
  5. The replacement I wrote about earlier was cast pot metal.
  6. Either Raybestos or Wagner makes (made) a replacement cap for these master cylinders. I know because I bought one several years ago. Don't have the part number, unfortunately. Check with a good local parts store (with a clerk who doesn't mind digging in the paper catalogs) and you should be okay.
  7. I lived in Buffalo for a few years and can honestly say I don't miss the snow AT ALL!
  8. Jim, You can retract a bid on eBay within certain guidelines. Saves headaches if you find out the item is a stinker before the auction ends. Harold
  9. It's too late this time, but maybe ask for a lot of pictures before taking a road trip. Demand photos of whatever trouble areas are common in that particular make and model. And yes, unfortunately some sellers are hoping to catch a sucker. At least you didn't buy the car without inspecting it and get disgusted when it came off the truck.
  10. My plodding clean-up efforts have turned to the hubcaps in the garage. Only a few Mopar items...'55 Plymouth and early-seventies Dodge, but a lot of other stuff for Buicks, Chevy, Ford, etc. They're all priced at $10. each plus shipping. I posted an ad on the ACCA Buy/Sell with photos if anyone wants to look. Thanks! Harold http://forums.aaca.org/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=504534#Post504534
  11. Must have been a tough ad to write.....
  12. How about Bon Ami? If it doesn't screw-up engine innards, it should be fine for stainless! Harold
  13. For what it's worth, many years ago I saw a D24 at a car show that had added-on power steering. There was a GM power steering pump mounted above the generator, with the hoses going down to a steering box (not a rack). Don't know any details about what kind of steering box was used. So I guess what I'm trying to say is: It's been done before, and it should just be a matter of pinning down which components to use. Harold
  14. Try this website, it allows you to search for cars in movies by make and year: www.imcdb.org
  15. I think Technostalgia is providing a great service to the hobby by producing complete ready-to-install rear lamp assemblies for the P15. They deserve to make a profit for their efforts. Something that has been relatively unspoken is their ability to reproduce the chromed metal and gasket components of the the lights. I would be interested in finding out if they can make taillights for 1950-51-52 Plymouths. The same lights are applicable to all body styles for all three years except fastbacks and station wagons, and the production figures for the later cars must be comparable to the number of P15's built. The only issue that I see from a business point of view is that the 1950-52 models aren't as popular in the hobby as the P15's are now, but that situation is changing rapidly. Any other '50-'52 owners interested? Harold
  16. This website covers vehicles from the 1940's (only one or two makes in the early years) to the present. It was posted on another auto forum and I wanted to share it here. Has repair info, wiring diagrams, recalls, TSB's, and a lot more. For access, use the link below, type "123456789" for the card number, and select Hudson libraries. Then, scroll down to the auto repair section. Hope y'all find it useful. Harold http://www.oplin.org/databases/proxy2/proxy.php?qurl=http%3a%2f%2farrc.epnet.com%2fautoasp%2fframerq.asp
  17. Along the same line, Huffy has marketed 'Cranbrook' bicycles for the past several years.
  18. Looks interesting.... http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/car/629450770.html
  19. How's this for an idea? Cut the good front section from the blue hood (at a point just to the rear of the hood 'boat'), weld it between the two front fenders, and fill all the seams. Then, use the rear section of the green hood, split the two halves apart, and make a butterfly hood out of it. I drew a diagram of this, but couldn't shrink it small enough to post. I can email it to you if you'd like to see it. Harold
  20. I'm partial to 1951-52 Plymouths so they get my vote. Same layout both years but the '51 is done to a higher standard than the '52 (woodgrained paint and more chrome).
  21. Another point to remember is to mix all your individual paint cans together for color uniformity.
  22. Try this: www.oldspower.com
  23. I'll chime in with some thoughts: If it's a complete car and you like the body style, I say go for it. The upside is the rarity and uniqueness of its sihouette. There is only one seat, two door panels, and a relatively small headliner, so interior restoration should be less expensive than a larger car. Locating pot metal trim will be no worse than any other Chrysler from that era, and the mechanicals are easy. Just be sure it doesn't have a lot of rust, and that the paperwork is in order. Enjoy! Harold
  24. There are modern brass blanks that will work on our cars. They'll have a more modern pentastar shape but that's not a big deal. Take your originals to a good local locksmith and he should be able to set you right up.
  25. Norm, If your mother hasn't done so yet, she should contact the local police and report an attempted breach of her bank accounts. Her bank may want to keep this quiet for public-relations reasons, but she should still protect herself. It's important that there be a paper trail documenting this event. If you have a telephone number, try using a reverse directory to see if there's a name/address listed for it. One good reverse directory site is: http://www.freeality.com/findet.htm Thanks for spreading the word and keep us posted if there are any new developments. Harold
