  1. I wouldn't deliberate for six months before deciding which way to go. I've heard many stories where buyers have lost a car if a better offer is received or for other reasons. Another thing to consider is how difficult would it be to get a valid title in your state without prior paperwork. Some states are relatively easy, and others can be a nightmare. It pays to do some homework. As far as the car itself, I'd say go for it. The satisfaction of reviving a rare car is worth the effort. Harold
  2. The car has potential and having a title makes it that much more attractive. Looks like Earl Scheib blue covering up the original Sherwood Green.
  3. I've seen this on lots of 51-52 Plymouths as well. For the Plymouth, I think the reason is that the bodies were made by Briggs and the front end and rear fenders were painted separately (with a different or lesser-quality primer) at the assembly plant. Chrysler made the bodies for Dodge but maybe the production process was the same.
  4. Lee, I'm glad you got to the hospital quickly and everything worked out. Heart attacks are not fun (been there, done that). Do what the doctors say and you'll be fine. Harold
  5. I've only been able to use "semi-finished" spark plug wires in my cars. You put the wire through the holder first, then add the spark plug boot and terminal. The factory may have used spark plug terminals without a boot so they could fit through the holder. You can probalby be OK without it, but the holder keeps the wires neat.
  6. I'm hoping for a lull in the weather when my kids drive back to Rochester and Geneseo (respectively) in the next couple of weeks. More nail-biting for yours truly....
  7. Good catch!
  8. I thought I'd share the latest scam to grace my in-box to alert others if they receive something similar. A little background.... I listed a tankless water heater for sale on my local Craigslist and got only one reply which went right to my spam folder. It was brief and generic (the worst kind), but I responded to it anyway to see what happens. This morning, I got the following email inquiring about the water heater, sent directly to my email address not via Craigslist: It's Good reading from you as regards your advert post. 9. Excellent black paint on the roof with all that sectioning. Impressive work!
  10. They really add sharpness to the car.
  11. Faster in Jersey
  12. PM sent
  13. Glad they arrived. Those are some well-travelled clips!
  14. Congrats on the new project. Do you have any history on the car?
  15. Bummer!
  16. Northern or central, depending on who you ask. As Don said, anything north of the Bronx is upstate to many people. When I went to college in Geneseo, the area was referred-to as Western New York, now it's called the Finger Lakes region.
  17. Maybe someone here can use this for parts: http://binghamton.craigslist.org/pts/3431044514.html
  18. One hint I've picked up is to put a piece of Saran Wrap into the socket before tighteneing a bolt. It stops the wrench from removing the paint from the bolt head.
  19. 'D' and 'N' are gone, and one or two others were identified. Any ideas on what the others fit?
  20. Nice looking car. Someone wanted to give me one for free many years ago but wanted to keep two tires from it. I declined the car because I didn't want to buy two tires! Does the AM radio receive any broadcasts in your area?
  21. The 49-52 Plymouth is narrower than the Dodge. I'd measure another Dodge, DeSoto, or Chrysler since they all used the same larger body. If Electron has a catalog, see what other cars use the same part number as the one they sent you.
  22. Frank, Here are the quantities and approximate dimensions of each clip: D: 3/4" wide x 1-1/8" high with 3/4" wing (5) F: 3/4" wide x 1-1/8"high with 3/4" wing (1) K: 7/8" square base with 9/16" wing (27) If any of these work for you let me know. Harold
  23. Andy---I sent a PM Harold
  24. Here are some perspective views of Clip N. They probably won't make it to the cover of Popular Photography......
  25. Bob, Let me know if you'd like dimensions or different views of particular cllips. I'm not the best photographer but will do what I can. Andy, I'll try to get a side view of the N clip later tonight. Harold
