Not sure....

Well you can count on me to screw things up and have to do things twice. At least this time around I felt I did things in the proper order. Wheel cylinders first, spring kit, flex hoses. I suppose I should have just bought a new master cylinder right away and done that months ago.

Considering the brakes were done by the PO eight or nine years ago....and he didn't drive it much AND left it sit outside in the winter...and when I replaced the wheel cylinders they looked awful inside, I'm more than willing to replace the master. A new one isn't spendy ?

Okay, thanks Plymouthy. Next up: master cylinder replacement. I'm not going to let this beat me. I can literally take apart and put the brakes back together with my eyes closed now ?

11-6: Update on the brakes. I was able to get those little clamps loose with a hammer and a screwdriver, and then pull them off with a pliers. Installed the new flex hoses. I still have the same problem, the brake shoes do not return to the boss and drag against the drums causing excessive heat. I have both sides backed off all the way with the star adjustment screw, and that seems to be working for right now. The only other thing that isn't brand new is the master cylinder. Flex hoses, shoes, wheel cylinders, spring kit, everything is new. And still the damn brake shoes won't return all the way. Could the master cylinder cause this problem? 11-4: Out for a cruise tonight by myself. Stopped for gas. Washed the windows. 3rd gear mostly; about 20mph. Things to work on: -fuel guage (stuck on full) -speedometer (rests way below zero at a stop) -look into replacing hood straps.... speaking of which, anyone have suggestions on replacements? See pic

11-3: Out to the compost to haul our carved pumpkins away. It was a real joy to drive the truck. The heater works good.

It's definitely not off center on purpose. I'm surprised it's that far off though. Hacker work is what I call that...

10-30: Out for an evening cruise downtown with the kids. Lots of people dressed up wandering around. We cycled the heater on and off as it was just chilly enough. Here we are parked in the neighbor's driveway dropping off some snacks for my wife. What an awesome night to cruise around in the old Dodge ?

10-30: Out to pick up my daughter from work and go to the parts store for a new flasher. $6 later, my blinkers are back in business. Got a few thumbs up, and even had an early 70's Dodge dart follow me for a little while before turning off ? Thanks again to everyone for the tips and advice, I really appreciate it!

They're not blinking outside. We did verify that. So I'm going to have to look at that aftermarket switch mounted to the steering wheel, which is super old.

No, I think the blinker gears locked up! ?

10-27: Out for a cruise with the kids. The truck ran good. I had a problem with my blinkers when we were close to home again. They won't blink unless you operate the lever manually.

Merle and Dave, thanks for the info. There's not much room at all. I don't think I can swing a hammer. I'll look at it again tonight and see what I can do ?

I just worked on the driver side front tonight. I got everything apart except for the rubber hose that connects to the wheel cylinder. I'm having trouble with this clip. Is there a special tool to pull it off or should I just try to grab it with a pliers? I think it's rusted, I did spray it and I will leave it sit overnight. Meanwhile I ordered two new brake hoses. This has to be the problem as there is nothing else left to fix. ?

10-22: My brother asked if he could take the Meadowbrook for a while because he enjoys driving it. His son also wants to learn how to drive it. What better than a car with Fluid Drive to learn a clutch? I drove the car to his place and we cruised around for a while and then he drove me home. Jeez, now I miss the Meadowbrook! But it's in good hands. I'd never let anyone else borrow it except for my brother ?

Saturday 10-23-21: Trimmed 2 truckloads of brush/weeds/trees, etc. from the fence line between my house and the neighbor's. The B1C faithfully hauled it all to the compost. Wife went with on the first trip. Sha hadn't ridden in the truck previously. She liked it...who wouldn't on such a gorgeous fall day?!

I'm stumped on the spring.... I'll look at my B1D tonight and see if I can locate one.

10-19: Out for a cruise with the kids. Full moon and really nice calm weather. A Navy friend of mine died today, he had a long battle with cancer. I'd like to say I got some relief by driving this old truck. Going to miss him. ? The picture is right after I backed in for the night.

You can see the general area where mine comes up through the floor. The shifter and the accelerator are good references. It was a bear to feed it up through there. The previous owner also put a homemade grommet there. I just ran it along the frame and around to the transmission underneath. When you feed it through the floor I just ran it across towards the passenger side. Hope this helps.
