  1. Retired since 11/2007 :D:D worked for a natural gas utility for 36 years now called Nation Grid a name you should be familiar with living in long island Ed
  2. I do not think that would be enough to cause a problem but you could flush the system with break clean or I think alcohol to be safe. I used dot 5 silicone in about a 1/2 dozen vehicles no complaints except the price about $30 a quart at napa. You can also use the newer dot 4 which is compatiable with dot 3 and to make thinks more confusing there is a dot 5.1 that is not compatiable with the scilcone but may be compatiable with the dot 3 or 4 or at least a replacement 3 or 4
  3. I see roberts and maybe others sell a water pump repair kit the online does not show whats included you would have tp call to find out. As to napa I would go to the store not sure about the napa online but when I go to my local store they usually get me what I need if not in another store or napa warehouse then from the manufacture Roberts water pump repair # T49K http://www.robertsmotorparts.com/car_parts.asp?Action=search&c=Cars+-+Cooling
  4. The master cylinder is not hard to remove but schedule a full day if you have never removed one. Once you have it off the car and apart look inside at the bore if its pitted try to clean it up with a brake hone once it is clean you can get a rebuild kit for less the $20.00 a new mc is about $200. if the pitting is bad then resleeve or replace. If you have not done your brakes in a while you also should check the wheel cylinders and hoses Most venders have the parts as well as napa or rock auto below is a link to rock auto which should show approximate cost of the parts http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php
  5. That is cheap compared to this guy that is asking $23,000 for a 49 Chrysler 4 dr at one point in the ad he got confused and called it a Plymouth http://cnj.craigslist.org/cto/986439046.html
  6. Does it work for cell phones as I get that call about the factory warranty expiring on my 2000 s10 . I got rid of my land line and only have cell phones Ed
  7. The instructions for those that want to roll their own is in the download section here is a link http://www40.addr.com/~merc583/mopar/framesets/softwareframeset.html
  8. Great idea I fit all 3 Plymouths This information could also go in the signature if you have too many for the location line Ed
  9. There was a company online I think it was tower paint I had looked at there site a few years ago but the price was more then I wanted to pay but you could try a search and see if they are still around. I also agree with Bob T I used a can or 2 of the krylon a few months ago and it was more watery like it had less pigment I thought I just got a bad batch. It was on a truck I am slowly working on and recently used some ace hardware paint and it was better then the krylon
  10. about the closest I could find is in the mopar service manual it states not to cut more the .060 on the drum diameter so figure a 10" drum plus .060 whatever that comes to in inches
  11. For the brakes you could try roberts they sell the brakes without cores but its a extra $50.00 so you are looking at about $100.00 per axle http://www.robertsmotorparts.com/car_parts.asp?Action=search&c=Cars+-+Brake+Parts
  12. Also if you have a real locksmith and bring the ignition he can make you a key. Never did it with a ignition usually do as young ed suggests and just replace the ignition but I have had door and trunk lock keys made for for my plymouths, willys and even had a key made for a model t. You just need to find a locksmith usually a small store in town and not in a mall or super store
  13. That looks like the original engine TP23 230ci 23 Inches Dodge Truck D100, D200, D300, W100, W200, P300, P400, WM300 1960 info from http://www.t137.com/registry/help/otherengines/19581968engines.html
  14. Not sure of the technical way but if you step on and off the bumper and the car bounces a few times they usually need to be replaced or if they are leaking. Worn shocks may also cause a shimmy in the front end
  15. You may want to check rockauto that is where I got the wheel cylinders for my P15 they also have rebuild kits if you cylinders are not pitted or can be honed. I replaced the wheel cylinders and rebuilt the mc also do not forget to replace the 3 brake hoses. If you do use rockauto here is a 5% discount code that is good until Feb 8 2009 13251581140784
  16. The kit I had the copper washer formed into the cup and although not explained well in the instructions that rubber washer in your last photo goes in between the valve and the end of the mc where the lines connect. No guarantee but that is how I set up the last 2 I did Ed
  17. I took mine off when I sold my 47 bis coupe. I was thinking of selling the topper on ebay as a rare collectible for a few hundred but think I will save it for my 4 door a 49 1st series, which I work on in between other projects ,and will use it when I finally get that car on the road Ed
  18. Norm before you head off to other worlds just though I would remind you of the p15-d24 club even had a plate topper and a short lived newsletter. I still have the plate topper in the garage Ed
  19. I was thinking that also but its inexpensive under $10.00 summit has a good selection of the standard replacement straps you just need to figure out which one would fit http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?Ntt=gas+tank+straps&N=700+115+4294771014&Ntk=KeywordSearch
  20. Mine has the red top got it from summit http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=ULT-9010-044&N=700+115&autoview=sku
  21. Looked up the straps and while not exactly stock will be great for me as I plan to relocate a fuel tank on a truck I have Ed
  22. What is the napa # for the straps ?
  23. I think you will miss the coupe but its not a bad idea but sort of the best of both worlds I have 3 older vehicles on the road a 52 p23, 62 Willys Wagon and a 76 D100 truck too be honest I drive the truck more then the other 2 its old enough to be fun to drive and new enough to have most modern convinces. Ed
  24. I also would 1st check the temp gauge if something was blocking the water flow, thermostat, plugged hose or radiator it would not come back down in a few seconds. I would cheek the temp of the water in the radiator just be careful taking off the cap
  25. No but locktite is a reputable company so it would be worth a try and would be better to use around flammable sources then heating it with a torch which has a similar effect
