  1. Have a happy, fun and safe 4th. Semper Fi to all my fellow Marines.
  2. Painting over or leaving it?
  3. 200 Miles is how far from me not how many miles it has on it. lol
  4. Might have found my next OT project. This one will be for the wife. 1956 Oldsmobile 2 door hardtop, "all original drivetrain: 324 Rocket 4bbl V8 rated at 245hp with 4 speed Jetaway Hydramatic automatic transmission." Semi local, only 200 miles, and cheap.
  5. http://forums.aaca.org/topic/34372-39-chrysler-dash-plastics/ about a 39 but all that I've found so far.
  6. Tried searching, haven't found anything yet.
  7. I ordered one for my 47 coupe. I'm pretty sure it was from RH. Paid $50 if I remember correctly. All that I received was 2 uprights cut out of 3/8's metal. I had to weld a plate on the side that attaches to the frame as I didn't think the frame could handle that small of an attachment area. I can send you a paper pattern that will save you $50 if you wish.
  8. I read somewhere about those parts from someone looking for them also. He made new ones from something else as he could find no one making new parts.
  9. Most large towns/cities have places that can rebuild starters.
  10. easier to remove the whole thing. Work on it on the bench.
  11. Tks Don. That's why I post photos. Someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong by looking. lol
  12. Okay. Should it be from both carbs or is one enough?
  13. Moose's headers made them. The V shaped bar won't fit on the other side. The throttle linkage is too far to the outside of the engine for it to fit/work. If anyone knows of better linkage I'd like to know. This seems a bit mickey mouse to me.
  14. Done with most of the hook up for the dual carbs.
  15. Looks pretty straight. First thing I'd do is get a title. Not much use fixing it up and you can't get it titled.
  16. good advice
  17. Okay. thanks. that's what I needed to know.
  18. #17 is called a grease retaining tube. does this keep the lube in the gear box or does it hold lube also?
  19. folks I'm not filling the box with grease. If you look at the photo and see the hole bottom just right of center. In the parts book there is a tube that goes up there and it's called a grease tube. How do you put grease in there? Just pack it in? What holds it in?
  20. I have started to clean and refill my steering box. According to my shop manual there is a tube labled grease retaining tube. Is there suppose to be a zert or something on the end of this? See photo. If not how does the grease remain inside? My shop manual photos are terrible, reprint.
  21. took a halibut trip yesterday.
  22. dual stock 1 barrel strombergs bxvd's
  23. they are all in the clear. I made sure before I put the clear on that I had no problems in the basecoat.
  24. I ran out of clear and had to go buy another quart. Didn't have what I was using and the new stuff ran easier. I have about 7 large sags/runs to remove now. But, hey it's done.
