  1. Thanks looks as if they will fit the strombergs but man $74 for two. I'll have to think on that one for a bit.
  2. thanks guys. I think 3 set screws with threaded holes in the airhorns on both carbs should hold the single air cleaner on. It is pretty heavy.
  3. the guy that I bought the alternator from had them as well
  4. I'm running dual BXVD's on my 230. My custom air cleaner attaches via two tiny set screws, one on each carb top. But, the tops of the carbs are angled so this method doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling of staying on. Anyone know of a more secure method?
  5. Don I have that tool just taking it to someone that knows more than I do to do it right the first time instead of me messing with it for days. Chris I just bought the bend kit that I posted earlier, the two header collectors, and the two 25" cherry bombs.
  6. I am running one that I bought off of ebay as well. Had to buy a different pulley to fit the wide belt. I haven't got the wiring hooked up as of yet but seems to be working fine.
  7. Started it up tonight. Now to get it timed correctly and sync the dual carbs. One step closer to driving it.
  8. nope. Just buy a kit with lots of bends http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Mild-Steel-Exhaust-Bend-Kit-2-1-2-Inch,36340.html?sku=91013824&utm_medium=CSEGoogle&utm_source=CSE&utm_campaign=CSEGOOGLE&gclid=CPeCyenL3c4CFUhcfgodugMOBg had 3 of the 180's and one 45 left over.
  9. welder, sawzall, grinder and a couple of wrenches.
  10. Finished the exhaust this morning. Photo shows it all welded and ready for paint. Video shows it installed. Estimates for a shop to make the dual exhaust for my 47 coupe ranged from $900 to $1400. I did it for $400 and had parts left over from the bend kit that I bought. First part shows the exhaust without the splash pans. Shop said that there was no way to keep it. Second part show that I was able to do the impossible I guess. Not a very good video but can't expect much for only 18" of clearance, holding a light in one hand and the camera in the other. lol
  11. for mopar trucks http://www.ebay.com/itm/Door-Stops-Pair-Fits-1948-1952-Dodge-Trucks-/131909160610
  12. this guy doesn't know what they fit but they should look similar to these. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1933-1960-Ford-Chevy-Dodge-Plymouth-bent-door-check-arms-N-O-S-Old-Original-/381743742883?hash=item58e1b33fa3:g:xkkAAOSw0UdXuRl~&vxp=mtr
  13. Moose, a memeber here makes them.
  14. Those are the ones I used. For front 86-97 Aerostar
  15. had it made for me. Some guy on ebay does them custom.
  16. I need to find a better way than the two little set screws to keep it on the carbs. Not trusting it to stay there at the moment. Top side matches the top side of the intake manifold with the fins.
  17. I rebuilt them about 18 months ago. I believe I got the kits from somewhere in Florida. I'll see if I can find anything about where I got them but don't count on it. I'm running the Offenhauser intake.
  18. I'm setting my 230 up to run with two stock BXVD Strombergs. Will get it running with them in a week to 10 days. Putting the exhaust on first.
  19. if the pressure cannot release brakes will drag.
  20. Rich I'm running duals all the way back. One has to go to the left.
  21. I have a question on how large the gap should be between the tailpipe and fuel tank. Don't want to get things too hot. Thanks for any help.
  22. jorswift where are you located. I have located a complete set in ohio real cheap but must be picked up.
  23. rather do it myself save $1000 and use it on the interior.
  24. I hate paying $97 to ship a $139 part. Part of living where I do I guess. Other things make up for it. Too bad Amazon doesn't carry the kit. Prime gets shipped for free.
