  1. you will not be able to trace prior owners or anything with the serial number. That information will not be released.
  2. We have cows and calves all the time in our yard. Bulls don't walk through it much. They spend thier time at higher elevations.
  3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1948-1956-Mopar-Copper-Braided-oil-line-approx-38-1-4-Chrysler-Dodge-Plymouth-/121433958596?hash=item1c460728c4:g:esEAAMXQNo5TXAId&vxp=mtr
  4. The rest of the story.
  5. Thanks Rich
  6. It's been popping since I put the dual carbs on it. I found a large vacuum leak that I thought was the problem but once fixed it still did it so I checked the advance and found the tear.
  7. on the side of my dist IGS-4207A-1
  8. Has anyone bought a vacuum advance from Andy Bernbaum? Just wondering if they are made in America or China. Took mine out to check it as I'm having lots of popping when running the engine and it has a tear in it.
  9. George cleared this up for me. Dummy me thought that when the carbs were at rest with nothing hooked up, that position was idle. George says that's wide open. I have to manually push it the other way and then connect the linkage.
  10. If you search a bit you can get parts cheaper than that. I bebuilt my 230 6 for $1200 to include everything new from water pump to fuel pump and the machine company did the rebuilding.
  11. Recieved my new carbs and linkage mounted on my Offenhauser intake from George Ashe today. Looks really nice and the new linkage looks great. Not Mickey Mouse like the stuff Offenhauser sent with the intake. I've only have 5 minutes to look at it as I have an appointment. If anyone else is using the Offy intake with George's linkage I'd appreciate a photo of your linkage from the top of the engine to the carb linkage. The linkage from George needs a push toward the carbs to squirt gas, my accelerator linkage moves towards the head. Linkage sets to low to move the swivel arm from the top to the bottom of the steel bar. Help appreciated. Will take a photo or two when I get back.
  12. used the same one on my 47 dodge
  13. The owner most likely spent more time or money getting it to look that bad than they would have getting a decent paint job.
  14. I have the original engine rebuilt and in it and the steering will also stay stock.
  15. I put disc on all 4 corners of my 47 Dodge for less than $1000. All parts new. Went with AAJ on the rear and it was complete bolton no problems what so ever. Front I went a Scarebird bracket and used the parts list that they send with it. I haven't gotten it on the road yet but I'm real happy with both so far.
  16. I had a similar problem when I installed my new fuel tank. They said it was exactly the same as stock. 1/2" wider front to back and the fuel line fitting needed a longer male fitting to fit. 5/16" fuel line. Everyone stocked the 1/4 long male but I had to pay $15 to order a 5/16ths one. How many times do you think you will need to change fitting or replace the fuel line? Seems to me it would be much cheaper to buy the 5/16ths fitting. Good luck.
  17. i bought mine off of ebay. If you do also make sure that the vendor sells the correct pulley also. The one that came on mine had a slot that was too narrow.
  18. with that plane it would be WWII. Some countries still had horse cavalry units in WWII
  19. I've got 2 rebuilt ones. Changing them for dual carter's from George Ashe. I can't get two BXVD-3s to run correctly on my 47.
  20. Kanter is almost twice the price of Bernbaum's.
  21. who rebuilds or sells rebuild kits for these vacuum advances?
  22. Measure how much longer you need then go to auto parts and buy one that is 4 or 5 inches longer. When I changed the generator to an alternator I had to buy one that was shorter by 2 inches.
