  1. When I first installed the battery in the 47 coupe, I didn't realize it was pos ground, when I turrned on the ignition switch the horn started sucking, the headlights started casting shadows, and the radio listened. Not really, the radio was broken, i just thought it was listening.
  2. Got my peacoat hanging right here, course i need to sew two of them together to get it on.
  3. Fancy leak tester? and I thought i was old skool ! ! !
  4. There's thread going on the problem with a coil, not saying that's it, but weak spark or higher rpm's makes for a weak spark.
  5. Spark, compression, and, fuel/air in the right quantity at the right time. why not take the plugs out and let it vent, turn it over with the plugs out. Make sure #1 is on the compression stroke and the timing mark is right, open the dizzy cap and see if it's pointing at #1 hole on the cap, swivel the dizzy and see if it sparks, is the spark good'en blue?
  6. Kool car, and check out that hood ornament, gotta love it, that would one heck of a sleeper on the street! I WANT ONE O' THEM. By the way, the pictures on the wall, is that a distraction while working on the Dodge?, or motivation?
  7. CWCARS88, Pics sent.
  8. I wanna know who's responsible for removing all the interesting cars from Georgia and shipping them as far away from me as possible! everytime i see something kool and affordable, they are always north of Seattle or something.
  9. We used to have two in this little podunk town, The Moonlit drive-1n at one end of town and the Hub drive-in at the other, back in the 70's they were closed, the Hub still has the marquee visable, man every time I go by there I have the greatest flashbacks, wish i had a nickle for every knucklehead i saw drive off with the speaker attached to the window! I miss the old drive-in burger joints to, around here the Sonic is the only one left, but i never see any gatherings of either people or cars there, back in the day, we had a regular route, Cow Palace at one end of town (and the greatest place for smokey, squealing departures because that's where the hot cars hung out, the Brazier Burger in the middle of town where there always seemed to be a fight brewing, and the Tastee Freeze at the other end right across from the skating rink, I called it "chik city". Friday and Sat nights the drive-in's and burger joints were the only place to be after the ball game of course. Anyone ever figure out how the carload of girls you were chasin' and trying to get to stop and talk always had 200 gal gas tanks and got 75 MPG? AHHHHHHHHH the simplest and greatest times of my life!
  10. I'll take some pics of the frame I took out, if Ya want, just pay shipping and you can have it.
  11. Well all I can say is, the guy that did this couldn't clean toilets at M.I.T. by the way it's amazing what you can do if ya have to and with the few tools i have left.
  12. When the PO took out the grill, they used some snips to trim the rings to eliminate the notch, I have bought some more. I am looking for some parking light housings and lenses, and the center piece with the chrome v and ship if anyone has some the want to sell. By the way, the other pic is the tail light bracket holding the bulb, is that the 47 bracket? looks like the original wires running to it.
  13. Yes, the horn relay is used so the current draw of the horns doesn't burn out the horn switch and or wiring. The same voltage controls the horn relay (a solenoid with a pair of normally open contacts) as operates the horns, probably 12 volts but then again 6 volts if you haven't converted, the relay just uses a low current draw of the horn switch to close the contacts to operate the horns, and the contacts for the horn side of the relay are designed to take the larger current draw of the horns. Man, the more i tried to explain it, the harder it was to explain, anyway, hope this helps.
  14. Dang!! who painted that?
  15. K, got it, whoever they were they sure f...........messed up this old car. but I have patience, ain't got much else, patience i got a ton, oh, and two dogs.

  17. Thanks Mr. Ed, that splains it, guess i gotta start looking for holes.
  18. Ibought a grill for the 47 Ply. I took it apart and repainted the frame, and cleaned up the chrome, where does the top chrome bar that runs between the headlight rings fasten to? the fenders?, I don't see any mounting holes for it, or have they covered them up?
  19. As four doors go, that one's pretty sweet, vette's always get attention, especially a black one with T tops, and it doesn't have the ugly (IMHO) bubble back window, pre 80 so no computer to Mess with, dunno, your call. If the family likes to cruise, the Olds would do it for ya. side by side i would say the olds would grab my attention.
