  1. Southern Bavaria???????????????
  2. Frankie, Frankie, Frankie, one wires were AE's, AT's had to chase two or three wires ! truthfully, AE's worked their butts of, we shared a shop on the hanger deck with them, man the looks on thier faces could kill when they came in for a tool or supplies and we AT's had our boots on the bench watchin' a movie. They certainly earned thier pay (such as it was). I'm proud to have served, really wanted to be a marine, but sadly, I wasn't good enough. Did end up doing some time with a branch your probably familiar with, the SEALS, I wasn't a SEAL exactly but a specialized unit identified as....................................................................................................................................................... the WALRUSES but the only action I saw was on the hanger deck at night doing mandetory PT ! Here's a pic of our Walrus Team 0 doing pushups. LOL
  3. I stand corrected, a grape is an ABF (aviation bo'sun's mate fuels) and as you reminded me, is an airdale, my bad, been a few years since i was on the flight deck, what i meant to say was I was an airdale directly involved in the maintence of the aircraft. At the time we were a detachment, HC1-Det 2 on the U.S.S. Midway out of Yokosuka japan but the airwing was actually stationed in Atsugi Japan across the bay, we were flying SH-3G's used for plane guard and utility service and an ocassional VIP run, no sonar dipping, although there was a dedicated VIP Det (HC1-Det 6) aboard the U.S.S. Blue Ridge for Comseventhfleet, if I recall correctly. I was an AT (Aviation Electronics Technician) and was at the time a 3rd class and was assigned to the line shack as the Flight deck troubleshooter for the Det turning flight ops. Sorry for the goof, the noggin' ain't waht it used to be, along with some other parts, especially the ears.
  4. here's what I use most of the time.
  5. UUUUUHHHHHHHMMMMMMM.............. soft?
  6. Great one ! !, but trust me, they all sweat! :-) oh, and Gawga is north of Flawada
  7. Yep, like i told my last GF, ugly can be loved to, come to think of it, that's the last time i saw her, a connection mayhaps?
  8. Went out today and took a few pics of what i found and dragged home, I've have had it for several months, all I've done so far is got the motor running and put some tires on it. After two bypass ops and two defibs and type II diabetes on insulin, I just don't have the get up and go I used to have (duh), but as anyone that knows me will tell ya, I never learn, I'm always looking for and at and usually dragging home the diamonds in the ruff instead of buying something already done. (guess that's why I haven't had a hot rod in quite a while). Anywho, the 47 B coupe has a 67 318 and trans and the non taper 8/34 rear with driveshaft. looks like they also took the brake pedal and master for the brakes, the motor sounds good, no smoke or noises, but no brakes, but they did throw in four new wheel cylinders for the front brakes. I just scored a pretty nice grill for the front and am in the process of taking it apart, polishing the stainless and paint the mounting frame. also bought a visor for it and a set of blue dots for the three rear lights which i plan to reinstall and get rid of the hideous tail lights that are on it, also plan to redo the front turn signals (from a dart?) that someone put on that also don't really "turn me on", looks like someone fixed it up pretty good at onetime, i can see the dummy spots holes and the interior was redone in black hyde. The body ain't perfect but it's never gonna be a show queen, just something for me and the dogs to tool around in, so with all that said, wish me luck that this doesn't turn into another project i spend time and money on and never get to drive. Sorry for the low quality pics, the resizing is a pain and hard to get right (for me) Oh, and I added the obligatory shrunken skull as a personal touch (just to remind me not to EVER, EVER try to get in touch with my EXGF, now that I think about it I don't know why it would remind me of her, the skull is now more appealing than her and twice the personality..... brruuaahahahaha.
  9. Dyn-o-mite? maybe they were thinking AVgas, which i believe is about 116 octane, JP5 is more like kerosene, and burns very hot. I was an airdale not a grape, but did have to take fuel samples from the old SH-3G's we hovered around in, still remember twrilling the clear glass sample jar for the PC to check out before QA arrived.
  10. They sure are playing it down then, all I hear is how peaceful and quite the community is, only one violent crime this year. anyone hear Bloomberg's take on it? If he ran the country he would tell us what to wear every day.
  11. "Come on Tim. Dont you have some welding to do? " Don Coatney LMAO
  12. Thanks, definately in the mail in the AM.
  13. Obviously insane/troubled/wacked, but if he already killed his mother and wounded his father and it's being reported two of his friends are missing, why take it out on the school and especially the kids. Not that anyone will ever understand what he was (or was not) thinking, I just don't see where the kids come in.
  14. Well at least I have one of the three, and it ain't money or brains, must be taste, I have a 47 business coupe.

  19. WOW!!! but as always, it's on the other side of the world
  20. Son-of-a-Biscuit eater, that's what i thought when i saw the pic. I like the old blue dots, but i may have to buy the LED boards for the housings if they can be bought seperately. Thanks Tim.
  21. Thanks for the exploded view from the manual BobT. I think i have figured out the problem, the housings must be from the LED kit, i guess the LED board acted as a seal to keep the lens in place, anyway, here's what i have to work with. Maybe i'll just epoxy the lenses in, Thanks for all the input.
  22. Now why didn't I think of that, thanks tim !
  23. Someone installed some fugly flush tail light on the coupe i have, I have purchased the housings and a set of blue dots, I know there's a housing to body gasket which i have also, but what holds the glass lens in the housing?, and can someone give me the demensions to install them on the body in the correct location?
  24. Thanks for the info, maybe I'll drill relief holes for the rivets if I can get the exact spacing.
  25. I bought some chrome steel rims (Wheel Vintiques) for my 47 Coupe, the rear has a 67 8 3/4 and the front is stock, when i was fitting the bare rim to see if it would clear the suspension, I noticed the rim didn't want to fit flat against the brake drum, when i looked I see what was holding it off the drum, i noticed there are rivet heads that protrude out about 1/4 inch. There are four of them in roughly the same patteren as the lug holes, except there is one hole with no rivet, the other four are there. Is this a problem others have run into? any ideas? can you run different rims on the stock front end?
