  1. I see the square and clicking shows me profile, warning points etc. I see rank but can't edit
  2. Maybe something went wrong with all the updates over time

  6. Doesn't make sense. People with fewer posts have other ranks than junior-
  7. Don't know if here is the right place to ask but how is user rank defined ? Why am I still a "junior member just joined the forum" although I joined in 2012. Others have only joined last year with less posts are ranked Advanced etc. How are the rank defined?
  8. No camshaft bolts except 3 for sprocket. If you mean crankshaft bolt, minimum 108 Foot Pound
  9. I am no cork expert but what kind of cork did you use in the picture? The cork I have used on my cars are all brown and not spotted like yours. Is it 100% natural or the artificial they use on wine bottles nowadays. According to Wikipedia natural cork is only native to the Mediterranean. Andydodges suggestion using Neoprene will also work. The both have great seal and tear abilities.
  10. By the way I have a scanned copy of 1928 Plymouth Parts List (don't know if they're the same as Chrysler) and there's no mention of felt or cork at main bearings but they do mention cork at camshaft front and rear bearing. Here is the page. 1928.pdf
  11. Here is PDF pages from Cadillac regarding cork. I hope you find it useful. Installing Packing For Rear Crankshaft Bearing.pdf
  12. Sorry my question was not meant to provoke or confuse. Just wondering about felt sealing ability and difference between makes.
  13. Are you sure it's supposed to be felt? Cadillac uses cork, not felt.
  14. I have Carter adjustment info for normal BB 1939 and later Also BB 1941 E6U1 and ECU2 with electric dashpot and kick down switch Also Ordnance Maintenance info W-O used on Power Wagons on PDF if any interest
  15. Did Chrysler call it that? Source?
  16. My Chrysler has brown steering column (jacket), lever and indicator bracket. What's this brown color called? Searched this site, lot's of info regarding engine and sheet color. Original 1941 color charts only show exterior colors.
  17. Yes grounding is useful if you listen to AM stations. Please post pics when you are done.
  18. What I meant was Chrysler and DeSoto never used the term "business" .
  19. Chrysler (as a brand) never had a model called anything with business. Yours is a Club Coupe. Please post photos of dashboard/instruments
  20. This may help: HAND BRAKE ADJUSTMENT Hand brake adjustments can be made underneath the car as follows: 1. Set the hand lever in the fully released position. 2. Remove wire lock from anchor screw head and adjust screw, 2, Fig. 84, so that the band and drum have .015" to .020" clearance. 3. Lock the anchor adjusting screw by wiring the screw to anchor securely. 4. Turn the guide bolt adjusting nut (1) after loosening lock nut, until the band and drum have .015" to .020" clearance. 5. Lock the guide bolt in place with the lock nut. 6. Turn the large adjusting bolt nut (3) until the clearance at the upper half of the band and drum is .015" to .020". CAUTION: The groove in the bottom of the adjusting bolt nut must line up with the ridge on the lockwasher when proper setting is obtained. 7. Lubricate all frictional surfaces of the brake control linkage and anchor bolts with engine oil. Free play between the side of the anchor bracket on the center of the band and the anchor must not be more than .005", otherwise band distortion may result upon brake application. This free play, if excessive, may be reduced by compressing the saddle in a vise or tapping gently with a hammer against a block or anvil.
  21. 0.5 mfd is a 0.5 μF = microfarad . Does it say 100V or 300V ? Red ring shows minus. Old capacitors dry out and may short circuit. Changing them is always preferred. You need a 0.5 μF polarized Electrolytic Capacitor or 0.5 μF non-polarized Polyester Capacitor. Both will work as arc and noise suppressors. I would choose an axial Polyester for easier soldering.
  22. So 42-48 Chrysler 6&8 used SS-4705 and 42-48 DeSoto used SS-4707. SS-4707 are used on Chrysler from 49-50 but according to garbagestate 44. these are offset and can't be used. Did Chrysler 6 and DeSoto have different bell-housing ?
  23. yes Solenoids is the switch. Yours should be a SS-4705 and are used on all models 42-48
  24. According to Autolite, the internals of MAX4050 and MAX4045 are the same, as Dodgeb4ya stated. MAX 4050 part number 868 857
