I agree with GTK that you have posted a good list of questions Brent. I was in a similar position to yourself when I first arrived here a few years ago as I too had limited social media exposure. I have since found the gang here most acceptable of those seeking knowledge, and also most willing to assist in any way possible. In my opinion, it is always wise to conduct a topic search in the 'search' field to the top right of your screen before posting questions though as your intended question may have already been answered in previous discussions. Enjoy the forum - we are all friends with a similar interest here!

Seems like he only has the rear end (differential/springs/brakes) as he removed them to install the Jaguar XJ12 front and rear into his vehicle. I may not see the vehicle though as it is at his other property. I will collect the pieces that he has on offer anyway and store them in my parts shed. Would probably prove too expensive to send you any parts from here in Oz fstfish.

I arrived home again last Wednesday Andy. Would have loved to have brought some stuff home for ya. I'm calling a local fella today about a heap of free 40 Dodge car parts. I'll email ya later if I have any luck.

Hi Tod.The show was at Dana Point. There were many great vehicles there (mostly Ford). It was great to meet up and chat with fellow forum member Charles there in his blue 'woodie' truck.

I recently traveled to CA and managed to fit in a trip to the Doheny Wood car show. Hank, Blanca and I walked around and admired the many finely restored woodies on show, and Hank got very busy with his camera. I have gone through those photos and picked out as many MOPAR woodies as I could find for those of you who might be interested. I'm sure that Hank would be happy for me to share those photos with you here. Enjoy...

7th Annual Clements Tailgate BBQ......
Desotodav replied to 48Dodger's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
I arrived home yesterday from my exciting venture over there to USA. I must say that attending the BBQ and travelling around the many very interesting places in California to meet up with my fellow forum enthusiasts was certainly an exciting experience. I thank you one and all for your hospitality and only hope that I can return to your country again soon for this spectacular event. -
It's so good to hear that your issue ended up being an easy fix Hank. It is a pity that we couldn't have sorted it a couple of days ago and we could have been cruising the streets of Malibu in the old green truck. I had such a great time over there in USA over the past couple of weeks that anything involving work was the last thing on my mind. I guess that I'll have to start thinking about it again in the near future as my vacation time finishes in around 3 weeks time. It was great to be away, but it is also good to be home again!

7th Annual Clements Tailgate BBQ......
Desotodav replied to 48Dodger's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
I have to admit that the only thing that's better than looking at BBQ photos on the forum is actually being there! I am only sorry that I am not able to do it more often. You're a big fella with a big heart Tim, and a perfect event host as well! My hat goes off to you for the great things that you do to get us MOPAR enthusiast's together. The experience for me was even more exciting as I was finally able to put a face to the names of some of those people who I have chatted with on the forum over the past few years. I trust that my Aussie ascent was not too difficult for those in attendance! We made our way back slowly to Hank's place over the next two days as we had a number of 'tourist' destinations to visit on the way. I now know that Yosemite is an amazing place. I look forward to venturing around SoCal for the next week with Hank and Blanca before I return back to Oz on Monday. -

7th Annual Clements Tailgate BBQ......
Desotodav replied to 48Dodger's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
I must say that it is a little strange being here in USA and getting use to travelling in the passenger seat of the vehicle without a steering wheel in front of me. I have to admit that (in all of the confusion to locate Hank and get away from the airport) I headed to the (your) driver's side of the vehicle - thinking that I was jumping in the passenger seat! The 13 and 1/2 hour flight over here was 'enjoyable' as I was sitting next a very good looking 36 year old girl and we chatted most of the way - if only I was so lucky for the return 14 hour flight hey! I have already worn an extra dent in the floor of Hank's green truck using my imaginary brake pedal - no knocking Hank's driving style, but everyone seems to drive a little bit crazy here in USA! We head up closer to the BBQ later today and I believe will make an appearance there tomorrow. We're just heading down to look at Hank's truck again now. I believe a quick check with the multi-meter on the faulty coil wire has just solved the reason why we stopped driving in it yesterday. I look forward to meeting those of you at the BBQ real soon. -
Sig, I was looking at your radiator photo (post # 154) and I thought that you'd have problems connecting that top hose and avoiding the spinning fan. Would your 'up and over approach' work as I suspect that it would give you a higher fill level in the radiator? Have you considered a thermo fan?.... i know it takes away from that original look, but you could certainly avoid your fan/hose clearance issue that way.

The Phoenix is awakening / B3B Rises from the Ashes
Desotodav replied to pflaming's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
Paul, I reckon that it's a good thing that you're painting the Phoenix. You must have impressed so many people with the truck that they are all starting to copy your PP paint job - check out the last 2 vehicles which have been listed on our Ebay sightings section... I do like the look of that silver truck at post # 28. -
$25 is just about what it cost for the bolts and I got the rest of the materials free - so that would just about cover it! I reckon that we'd need a plane with a bigger cargo hull though!

I recently built 2 work benches for my shed. The one without the shelves underneath (now has 4 spare engines living under it) took 4 guys to move it into place. I made the other one as a parts rack/mobile bench and am yet to fit the removable 4 inch solid-steel castor wheels. I made them both with heavy gauge steel, and fitted heavy angle steel around the top edges to give me something to pound on. Each of them measures about 3 meters in length by just over 1 meter in width. A fella can't have to solid a work bench IMO !

7th Annual Clements Tailgate BBQ......
Desotodav replied to 48Dodger's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
I feel honored to be part of such a fine group of people and to have the opportunity to attend an event so fine as the BBQ. I've encountered many of life's little challenges since deciding to attend the BBQ earlier this year, including both of my parents hospitalized with heart issues in recent weeks, and now the news broadcast here tells me that there are earthquakes in LA and that the staff of my chosen Australian airline for the journey (QANTAS) are looking at going on strike. My attendance to this year's event is made possible through the help of my good friend Hank. I very much look forward to meeting those of my 'forum family' in just under a week's time. -
I had a friend send me an email a while back with plenty of HEMI engine photos... http://www.hemihaines.com/Hemiphotos.html ... might give you some ideas Mr Bill? It looks like you're progressing very nicely though!

The sun visor on my 53 coupe truck appears to be what was generally fitted to our trucks here in Oz (see attached). Although, that visor looks like it could benefit from a bit of panel beating also! The visor fitting extended to the windscreen center bar would alleviate vibration to an extent. I will start a thread on this truck soon as I plan on restoring it next.

Apologies for the delay Gepard - I have been busy with work. You may be able to repair the axle threads with a thread file if the threads are not too badly damaged. Here's a couple of post links for you where we have discussed axle thread damage before... http://p15-d24.com/topic/34372-castle-nut-size-rear-drum-54-plymouth/?hl=%2Bthread+%2Bfile+%2Baxle#entry347137 ... and ... http://p15-d24.com/topic/18149-rear-axle-thread-damagerepair/?hl=%2Bthread+%2Bfile+%2Baxle#entry172690 . Be sure to use the 'search' function of the forum to the top right of your screen. I use this function often when I am researching particular items.

Welcome aboard Gepard. We have a few members in Germany. You may find it easier to change out the rearend in your truck with a Jeep rearend if you find it difficult to find old parts in your country. It may be easy enough to repair the threads on your axle shaft/s. What are your plans for the truck?... will you keep it original?... or add some modern safety items (disc brakes etc.). It looks to be a good solid truck. I have a 55 Desoto 'C' series truck parked in my shed awaiting restoration. It is interesting to see the difference between our Australian trucks and those in the rest of the world. Our 'C' series trucks closely resemble the 'B' series truck, but they have a different nosecone, a 1-piece windscreen and a few other cosmetic changes. I look forward to seeing the progress that you make on your truck.

Might be best to drop over to the truck side of the forum charlesk. Maybe chat with some of the guys in this thread... http://p15-d24.com/topic/31958-dodge-route-van-wanted/?hl=%20route%20%20van .
