  1. The rear axle seal is on the backing plate, evidently not much oil gets there and it is not under any pressure, as so it appears to me.
  2. When I put disc brakes on my truck i found full set of rims on a '56 Dodge pickup. They fit over the disc brakes and were wider than original, just perfect for me. I have 15" radials on.
  3. Remember, forgiveness is often easier to get than permission!
  4. The chassis is ready. Body back on, on Wednesday. I have to admit, I really hate to cover up this engine with fenders and hood.
  5. I have a near perfect S10 rear bumper that would bolt onto my '52 truck. But I prefer my stock black metal one. Lots of S10's in the salvage yards.
  6. Greg, we didn't realize that you were a cross dresser!!
  7. yI grew up with overdrives from th late 40's into the early 60's. My last car with an OD was a 60 Rambler American. I cannot recall an over drive failure ever and we drove them hard in mud, snow, and on every inpmagiable road then known. So my take is that if a problem exists, as stated above, it is electrical. Get a schmatic (google has a great one) and check it out.
  8. " On a Plymouth, that number begins with "P15" followed by additional numbers. These will be the same numbers that were stamped on the side of your original engine. If they don't match.....the engine has been changed/replaced with something." I found the answer. Will check out the numbers later this morning.
  9. How does one dterminemif the engine is original to the chassis?
  10. That is a tough bolt to get to when in the car. I've used a number of socket extensions to remove that . To replace the same way.
  11. There isn't a hole in my R 10, but there are two drain plugs and two add oil plugs.
  12. Three years ago on an overnight visit with my wife's cousin, I took these pictures the car her youngest child left in the garage when she got married. Not a MOPAR, but definitely a keeper. They bought it new. One owner.
  13. I never have metal to metal. I lost a good acquaintance who used two bumper jacks. They slipped and he paid the ultimate price. I also always give what I am lifting a good shake to test the lift. I start easy then put some muscle into it and try to knock it off. The topple I had was because I pushed out a leg, trying to roll the chassis under the body. As it stands now, there is no metal to metal and two of those 4X4's are against the far wall. It's not coming down.
  14. As it now rests, I have no intention of doing anything to that body. It is essentially in storage. If I were to work under it, it would be sitting on shipping pallets. When I was raising it, I did not get underbit once. It toppled when I pushed the chassis under and hit a leg. Fortunately it went to the wall, so it did not topple very far. No damage, no one hurt. PS, do I recall a picture of Young Ed removing an overdrive with the car body propped up by a barrel?? Surely not!
  15. Roof buckle? That came with the car, "stretch mark" , it's actually called "character ". If a car has no dents and perfect paint, then people take a quick look, say, "nice!" and walk on. But have an historical dent or two and original patina they walk up and say "how did you buckle the roof!"
  16. The body now is secure. Chassis on the way to my shop for rear brakes and other detail best done sans the body. So now all can relax!
  17. The single stands have been replaced since I took the picture. Just prior I had a dual bar across so each was doubling for the other, yet TKS for keeping an eye out for me and good tips to others.
