  1. That's one clean command car. I'll bet it'll never see any more mud or river crossings.
  2. Yes....very handsome group of folks. The trucks not bad looking either. Happy Holidays !
  3. Man...that sounds like a deal. Keep us posted on the outcome.
  4. Thanks Jim. Love that rendition !
  5. I had some air horns once that were kind of high pitched. I cut the tubes before the bell end and added a same diameter 12" length of tube to each one and they sounded like the Titanic. Hey....maybe I could have him make me up some sliding tail pipes like a trombone. Maybe the exhaust guy will know since he does it every day.
  6. I'm thinking that the larger diameter the tail pipes the lower the tone. Am I correct? Any words of wisdom for dual exhaust? I don't want J Lo to sound like a high strung hornet.
  7. Geez Don....I hope you have an electric water heater out there in that garage.
  8. HEY !!!! Maybe this Rube Goldberg stack of adapters would work. They would raise it up high enough for the linkage to clear the head and might just work with my stock linkage. They are two different styles of a 1 to 2 barrel adapter. The only drawback is the narrowing for the 1 barrel. It might just get me by until I could get something made. Thanks for the...raising it up idea Greg !!!
  9. Yeah....I tried calling Summit in Reno yesterday but the guy couldn't picture what I was talking about. It's about a 2 hour drive and it's snowing on Donner summit so I won't be going over there anytime soon. I looked at Pete's site yesterday but for some reason ( I'm a dope ) couldn't find his section on the carb linkage. His carbs are turned 90 degrees to mine so that setup won't work. I guess I could have a piece made that raised it up and turned it 90 degrees.
  10. Is that your engine Ed? I've got an arm and a leg I'm not using that much.
  11. That's the way I had it first but it's very tight in there next to the head. Wouldn't a cable only be able to pull? Too flexible to push?
  12. OK Greg...here's one from back a ways passenger side. To open the throttle the linkage will have to pull towards the firewall and up a little.
  13. I've got the engine in and running but no way to operate the throttle. None of the stock linkage I have around here will work with the 56 Plymouth manifold and 2 bbl carb. I guess I'm going to have to go with a cable setup and wondered if anyone here has done this. I'm gonna have to go from the gas pedal to the carb. To open the throttle the linkage has to be pulled back and up at the same time. I've painted myself in a corner. HELP !!!!!
  14. I just ordered one from Andy B for I think it was around $85. Send in your old one or pay a $35 core charge.
  15. Finally !!! The real cause of global warming is revealed. Can a Pulitzer Prize be taken back.
  16. I finally got the SpitSfire engine installed. I guess I'm going to install some type of cable carb linkage though cause nothing I have around here works. She sure sounds great with the Langdon headers and the 2 bbl carb. I'm very anxious to take it on a road test to see if I can feel an increase in performance. Wahoo !!! For some reason the oil pressure gauge reads 65lbs hot or cold. Is that gonna blow out a seal somewhere? I also need to find an air cleaner that will fit on the larger diameter throat the 2 bbl carb has. The one on the carb is just sitting there now. It won't clamp down.

  18. The description now states that it has a Ford 302. BUMMER !
  19. Very nice. I like that cvolor too. The seller says he's going to add more photos and details later. I hope he hurrys!
  20. Effluent from wastwater treatment plants perhaps.
  21. Well.....he's a power wagon guy at heart and when I told him I was interested in his OD he brought up the trade in a hurry. Maybe I'll say OK if he agrees to install the OD and make it work properly. Better deal eh?
  22. There's some truth to what you say.
  23. Sorry to hear you got laid off Harold. Gonna make lemonade?
  24. A bud of mine wants to trade me an OD 3 on the tree for this. Pound for pound I'm gettin screwed. But....think of the gas I'll save while driving Elbert!
