  2. Looks like this engine to me. A Canadian long block eh. Do I win anything?
  3. Thanks Fred but I don't quite understand what you are saying here. Maybe I need more coffee.
  4. Sounds good to me Fred !
  5. I had the very same thing happen a few weeks ago on my 49 Suburban with a 59 Truck engine installed. When I got the car the wire had been completely removed so I thought I'd be smart and install a new wire. Well....the next time I went to start the car that wire turned into a smoke bomb and melted most of the insulation. I figured the choke must have an internal short but haven't looked inside yet. Normspeed, if Fred doesn't need your sisson choke I'd be interested.
  6. If you come across a few lube fittings that are clogged shut with old hard grease I've found that a propane torch will melt the crud and the fitting will take new grease. I usually go to 10 Minute Oil and Lube and ask if I can come down in the pit with the guy to show him all the fittings. So far they have let me.
  7. I'd buy it ! Maybe they will take a little less even. If you are going to put a sbc in though I'd say don't buy it.
  8. Oh yeah....or....very little BODY....work
  9. Pete , I had a buddy adjust my valves in the car with the Langdon headers because one of mine was making a lot of noise. He said he got them all perfect but the noise is still there. That cylinder dropped from 110 lbs like the rest to 75 right after it was installed. I wonder if maybe I have a broken spring?
  10. I have a gutted, dented 1938 Pierce Arrow for free if anybody wants a project. It looks like the 37 Pierce Arrow on Bob's link.
  11. Yeah .a little paint would help but it's only a 1/2 ton and it's gonna need 3/4 of a ton of bondo.
  12. That is dirt cheap. I think I paid about what Marty paid and I live out in the sticks. They look real nice !
  13. Only $700. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1955-Dodge-Truck_W0QQitemZ220219531880QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item220219531880
  14. I have one of Charlies kits and have decided to stay stock. Will sell for $100 + actual shipping if anyone is interested. Reg SOLD !
  15. If I remember correctly it was a safety measure to keep the strawberries out of my wind pipe cause I was inhaling the stuff.
  16. I've had several short blocks around here and weather Dodge or Plymouth they all have had a sort of metal expanded metal piece in them. They were all from the L A Plant though. April Fools !!!!
  17. Thanks JT ! Maybe that's what's going on with my 42 Coupe. Brakes have been completely rebuilt with Bernbum parts and I can't get the pedal to firm up until it almost bottoms out on the floor. Hope I saved my old parts.
  18. Jon, All I do is loosen the wing nut on top of the air cleaner and fill the little depression on top. It dribbles down into the center of the carb throat. P.S. Norm. If there's no gas in the carb the choke will not have any effect on starting the car and the accelerator pedal is only squirting air.
  19. All six of my flat 6's need a prime after sitting for a few days. Even my 52 truck converted to 12 volts that spins faster than the 6 volters. 2 are using a Stromberg and the rest are Carters. I am convinced that the only way to start them without opening the hood and priming them is to install an elec. pump. I have snuck up on some and removed the carb top after a few days of non operation and sure enough the darned float bowls are dry.
  20. I have 7 cars insured with J.C.Taylor. I just got the bill for the annual premium @ $459 for all 7. The cars are valued at between 6 to 10K with a 300K liability limit. Cheaper by the dozen ! Oh....just got a revised bill with 8 cars for a total of $515 per year. Forgot about the 64 Valiant I added recently.
  21. What does this mean???? At night with the lights on in my 64 Valiant w/new alternator I can see the dash and headlights pulsing brighter/dimmer/brighter/dimmer. Maybe 2 pulses per second. I was also surprised ,when I was changing the timing setting with the engine running, to get a spark from the socket extension which was touching the dist. lock down nut and the inner fender panel. Then another spark when I was tightening the lock down nut and the end of the socket wrench touched the rear of the alternator (not a connector)
  22. Pretty derned close Grey Beard ! It's a good thing he's located far away or I'd have another one I really shouldn't have.
  23. See this thread. It appears that some Dodge Panel trucks shared the same hard to find tail light lense. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?p=68159#post68159
  24. Yes, the 25" block was the largest block made for automobiles. The color in 34 was probably silver.
  25. Come on Don....show him how you did it before he changes his mind.
