  1. Steve, you are aware thet the 251 is a "long block"? It is 25 inches. The "short block" is 23 inches. As posted by Don Coatney, there is a bit of work involved in the swap...not a bolt in.
  2. And when a FWD screws up, which they do much quicker than a RWD, it's very expensive, so they sell more new cars faster. I think the ute idea, coming from OZ, is great. Even if it is just an elCamino.
  3. Wagon & Ute Will Join The Pontiac G8 RWD Family Jamie LaReau Automotive News November 19, 2007 - 12:01 am ET DETROIT — General Motors plans a new family of rear-wheel-drive vehicles for Pontiac. The G8 line will include a sedan followed by a wagon and sport truck. All will be modeled after products sold by GM's Australian subsidiary, Holden, according to three sources familiar with the project. The vehicles will be assembled in Australia. There was debate within GM about whether to give the sport truck to GMC. GMC won't get it. Instead, GM's marketers wanted — and will get — a Pontiac sport truck so GM can market the three rwd vehicles as a high-performance family. The sport truck will have the same drivetrain as the Chevrolet Camaro, and it will use a modified sedan architecture How a Pontiac G8 Ute could look. New Holden Sportwagon.
  4. Candy Apple Red Testors plastic model spray paint works pretty good.
  5. Looks to me like a 46 Chevy lense might fit and it has the "bulge" rather than flat stock. 46's are being reproduced That Suburban is in great shape, Reg. Any more pics?
  6. You Yanks have some strange customs. My Granny used to make some killer Saskatoon Berry pies, but I don't recall she ever put them on the WALL!!!! We used to eat em before they was even cooled down, and besides, her GLASS pie plates wouldn't nail to the wall real good
  7. Sorry, it's on my favorites as .org, but it's actually .com http://www.owwm.com/ This page is for DeWalt "dusty paper"...each manufacturer has it's own page: http://www.owwm.com/MfgIndex/Detail.asp?Tab=Publications&ID=252
  8. Not sure about the US, but if there is a branch of his bank close by, you can take his check there and have it certified by his bank and then you are safe...at least we can do that here in the frozen north.
  9. Well, Don, the saw did come from a metal fabricating shop and it does presently have a metal cutting blade in it, so, if the need arises, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a go!!! I like excitement and I love sparks!!! I don't, however, own a chainsaw and that's one tool that I have enough respect for never to own.
  10. Bored on Friday after some tests, so was cruising our local classified site http://www.usedcalgary.com/ where I came across a brute identical to this one: http://www.usedcalgary.com/classified-ad/4334994&category=stationary-tools I have been looking for an OLD DeWalt for a while and the price was right, so I took the short drive south to Okotoks to pick it up Saturday morning. This tank is HUGE! Weighs about 500 lbs!! Good thing the seller had a fork lift because two of us were barely able to slide it across the floor. Because of the size, I was going to pass but then I thought for $50 bucks, it will do even being big. I found a scan of the original instruction manual which shows how to adjust this brute on Old Woodworking Machines.org. That was the reason I wanted an OLD DeWalt because of the precision of the adjustments and the fact they STAY adjusted...unlike the POS Craftsman I had:mad: I have a buddy with a tow truck coming this AM to lift it off of my pick-up and set it in the garage, so I'm going to buy some heavy duty locking casters for it so I don't get a hernia moving it once it's in the garage. Now I have to find a 14inch blade that I can afford:eek: According to the serial number it is an early 1943 Model GP.
  11. We are more than happy to have contributed to your project, Greg. Now, about the GST on that item? Our records show it to be outstanding:) Does it pull a bit to the north when you drive it??
  12. That will expose a scam pretty quick!!!
  13. So, even though the weather looks great, enough is enough and time to sleep in your own bed? That's a long drive isn't it? I'd love to travel a bit right now...feels like when I was 18 and had to hit the road...the mirror says I'm not 18 anymore though
  14. If you are the seller and they wire money TO YOU, then it's as good as cash because once you collect, the transaction is done. You have cash in hand and your bank account was not used or even identified. The problem with wire transfers is if you are the buyer and wire money away. It IS cash once collected and the transaction is over and non-reversible. The twist is that even though you sent the money to Great Falls Montana, it can be collected anywhere in the world with the transaction number. Someone in Nigeria can collect the cash. But if you are the seller and collect the cash, the fact that the transaction is completed and you have your cash works to your advantage. By "wire transfer" I am talking Western Union, NOT going through your bank!!!!!!
  15. I read that the Chinese govt pays the "freight" on those ships which is partly why those goods are so cheap. Would that be legal in the good ole US of A?
  16. Great shots, Don. You might consider sending that shot to whoever is doing the investigation. Might aid in telling the story of what went wrong... The weather there looks just great!!! How long you there for?
  17. I think it's a 75/76 Coupe deVille. One of the front bumpers looks like a 67 or 68 Caddy.
  18. Yeah, $10,000 would be nice to rub on my body to make all the hurt go away. . I would deliver the money personally, and collect the car. Even if I couldn't take it home, I would rent a storage facility from a national chain and store it until I could collect it. I wouldn't leave my $10,000 car with a stranger for a second. Did I mention I don't trust anyone? A lesson learned the hard way unfortunately:mad:

  20. Vintage Power Wagons has a 12 volt starter for the long block: http://www.vintagepowerwagons.com/catalog/pdf/group6-electrical.pdf Doesn't look like from the pic that it has a solenoid, but the guys at VPW should be able to get one for you.
  21. "To those of you who think my friend is a fool, all I can say is do you have your critical car nursing consultant all lined up to protect your family against mistakes? If not, they I think you are just a foolish as he is and should show more sympathy." I never once said he is a fool. He ignored well posted warnings of one thing NOT to do and did it and lost his money, like they said he would. Fool is your word, no-one else's. Not sure about the correlation of nursing to ignoring warnings not to do something that will cost you money. I fail to see the connection. Apples and Oranges.
  22. James, as I said, with all due respect. I'm not all that impressed with eBay OR PayPal, BUT there are enough warnings out there, even, GASP, from eBay themselves especially about wire transfers. If people do not pay heed to those warnings, I don't think tagging comments onto an auction would be worth a damn as it would be ignored as well. If folks don't know how eBay works and the dangers and don't bother to educate themselves and ignore the posted warnings, if they don't try to locate a friend to help them through the minefield, then, as I said, I have little sympathy for them. If that's harsh, so be it. No disrespect intended, it's just my opinion. eBay is the worlds largest playground for fraud and theft. The sooner people treat it as such, the sooner people will stop being stolen from. It's not a place for the faint of heart, that's for sure. As for being warned that something is not correct on an item, again, that is the buyers responsibility to educate themselves, ask questions, do research and not be SO enamored with an item that they wear blinders. A prime example is the word "Restored". I don't think I have to explain THAT one:rolleyes:
  23. With all due respect, eBayers have been warned and warned and warned ad nauseum about dotting the i's and crossing the t's when making a large purchase and the NUMBER ONE NO NO is a wire transfer. NUMBER ONE!!!!!! So, unless a person had been institutionalized for the past ten years and has never heard of eBay it's very hard to feel sorry for some people. This is the reason it is still happening is because people are their own worst enemies by not heeding , not reading or just plain ignoring warning after warning after warning. James, it's a shame your friend lost his money, but if he had paid attention he wouldn't have. I don't feel sorry for him, though.
  24. Not Photobucket, but I did use Snapfish once. For you it would be great, but when it has to cross the "Free Trade" border, it takes all the fun out of it. Now, I use a local outfit called Blacks. They have an online album service similar to Photobucket and I can order prints and pick them up same day just a few blocks away for 19 cents each. Heck of a deal. Likely a similar service local to you.
