  1. There is a local company here that has an online album service where you can upload your digital pics just like photobucket. Then, you can tag them and send in your order and within 24 hrs they will have your digital pics printed on 100 yr photographic paper/ink. If you buy a block of 100 prints they are less than a buck each. I'm sure most places have a similar service. (for Canadians, it's Blacks Photo) I've got 100's of prints taken on the digital. I don't like leaving them on the computer at all, too easy to lose them forever.
  2. Can we rustle up some french fries before it goes in the crankcase????
  3. I think on a cable inside a cover like that, I would use graphite so it wouldn't get all gummed up.
  4. Thanks Tim. I got lucky and the seller found the top bead breaker and I picked it up today so that just leaves the mount/dismount bar. I think they are still being made, maybe not as good as the original but better than nothing. I'm going to sandblast the machine on Friday and repaint it red. There is a slot at the top of the main post, what's that for???
  5. I like that...looks to be huge!
  6. I have a cell phone and carry it with me but only answer if it's after six or a weekend when it's free. I'm not that important I have to pay extra, and if it's an emergency don't call me, call 911! Twitter is just ridiculous. I have text disabled. Want to text me? Write a letter. My last job had those push to talk phones...mandatory...seems mine fell under a roller into some new asphalt...3 times!!! I wasn't that important I have to be allerted every 5 minutes. Again, in an emrgency, I'm not your guy. These things are little more than leashes, and I don't wear a dog collar to attach them to...very often One new-fangled hunk of electronics I DO like is the iPod. I just got one about 6 months ago and I love it. About 600 tunes I like and no crap. Radio these days is horrible. I'll use it untill they figure out a way to alert me on it and then it gonna have an accident too!
  7. Picked this up today from a farm north of here. Been sitting outside for 30 yrs. Seems complete except for the irons. Anyone have one of these with maybe a pic of what the irons look like?? This was also on the property
  8. Waiting in line for an alignment!
  9. The value is up to you, but you will sure like it. If you can afford it, buy it.
  10. My Uncle and my Dad used the old 49 Chrysler as a daily driver including summer holidays into the Rockies with Mom and 3 kids towing a tent trailer. I don't recall any overheating problems at all back then and I drove it as a DD much later and had none. It does get hot here in the summer...in the 90's right now...so these cars did not have inherent bad cooling systems. Near Radium BC 1957ish (also towed a tent trailer there)
  11. Nothing in a Gyromatic should stop the engine from turning. If you think it may be the starter, simple enough to pull it. I would pull the head and pan to have a look if it's been sitting that long. Mine had a broken valve and a large mouse nest on the oil pick-up...unlikely to start and wouldn't have run long if it did.
  12. Other than grille, dash and tail lights...identical to a Chrysler. The DeSpatch forum http://www.duricy.com/~desoto/despatch.shtml
  13. Mel Blanc wasn't a talent, he was a God!!!! Just amazing. The first time I ever saw Walter Cronkite was Nov 22 1963 the first time we had a US news channel feed here in Calgary. They went to Cronkite quite a bit that day up here. Wall to wall news. I was only 9 but I was glued to the set. When I think "newsman" I think of him. R.I.P. Mr Cronkite, and thanks for doing what you did as well as you did it.
  14. That driver is a real weiner!!!
  15. Our local Pick N Pull had to put down a rubber membrane and then 3 inches of road crush on top of that AND have a run-off collection system for the entire 8 acre yard $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Among other thing$
  16. Around here the BIG problem is when a "junk yard" changes owners, there are a whack of environmental hoops for the new owner to jump through that the old owner didn't have to jump through. In most cases the hoops cost much more than the business. As a result, they have virtually disappeared in this area. The environmentalists show no mercy when it comes to the useful recycling of things. Better to crush and shred it...especially if it ever had oil in it.
  17. I'd try a shroud...seems like you have all the obvious bases covered. Also, make sure, on the other side of the rad, that the air is being directed through the rad and not around it.
  18. I use that excuse in January here at 30 below. It's a universal excuse.
  19. I just had a machine shop install the bushings in place of the bearings and fit the kingpin to the bushing. It hasn't been on the road yet so I don't know how they'll hold up as compared to the bearings but it won't be getting the miles a daily driver would.
  20. Welcome to the best forum on the 'net. Good looking starting point you have there. As Greg said, check out the host page www.P15-D24.com Our host is Gerald...GTK...without him this site wouldn't exist.
  21. It's your car and I'm not criticizing your restoration plans, but it can never be original again. http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/video_player.shtml?vid=188093
  22. The title of Randy's book is "one Hot winter in Estes" by Randy St. John Great book, fun read. Nice job Randy. Any more on the way???
  23. I got this one for free. Fellow was pulling it from his 48 Pilothouse to install a Hemi. It now lives in a 46 Fargo 3 ton I used to own...now belongs to my nephew. I also have collected a couple of blocks along the way for free. The first one I got I paid $450 for...WWAAYY too much $$$ (All 251's by the way)
  24. No matter how well restored a car is, original is priceless. Original with history even better. Thanks for sharing.
  25. Great story, Randy. Thanks for the chuckle. Nice to see a good guy win a battle!
