  1. Lowering the top ala Ford Retactable into the trunk electrically: 1: 2: 3 closed: What is it????
  2. A cool whatzit from tonights show and shine. 3 more pics in part 2 Sorry, I forgot the dial-up warning and I can't edit the title
  3. I'm glad they survived and it will be interesting to see which direction they go. I have a feeling the Hemi has breathed it's last breath in a car, gone...along with the 300, Charger and Challenger.
  4. I have learned that if it's something simple and you want to sell, it's better to fix it before you sell. That way you don't have to say "needs work". In Alberta, everyone asks if it will pass an insurance safety (no provincial safety inspections here) so I have found that by having the safety done and fixing all the issues makes the vehicle almost sell itself. That and being squeaky clean. I also spend the $15 to get a CarFax. Takes away most of the concerns buyers have these days. You can ask top price as well.
  5. Many moons ago, when I was in the taxi business there was a local upholstery shop doing a good business making and installing some very durable seat covers. They were padded with some stitching to make them look like upholstery and the shop installed them using hog rings as the factory upholstery in installed. These seat covers stayed in place, looked OEM and lasted a few years in a cab. I think that company still makes seat covers for trucks and delivery vans. I'm sure there would be a company in Winnipeg doing this. Expensive for seat covers but very cheap upholstery idea. Might be worth a visit to a couple of upholsterers to check it out. At least you could choose your own fabric then.
  6. Jim, your pic you sent me is in .tif format. I converted it to .jpeg, uploaded it to my Photobucket and copied the link below the uploaded picture to my post. If you can switch your camera to take .jpeg, it's better for these forums. .tif is a better format for a print, but usually way too big for a forum. There is a free program to resize called Irfanview, although if you have a .jpeg image Photobucket has different sizes you may choose right on the site.
  7. Here's Jims coupe...nice one, Jim!
  8. The manifolds are worth a kings ransom if in good shape.
  9. That's fairly close....hhmmm Greg, I like the scaring the neighbors part. Looks like just the right width for snow removal as well.
  10. Welcome. Looks like a nice coupe. You came to the right place for info on the car. Check out forum member Charlies bolt-on disc brake kit for your car before you decide on the brakes. About the same price as a stock rebuild. http://www.rustyhope.com/ Keep us posted on your progress.
  11. My 1949 Chrysler also had that feature...very handy considering the ebrake wouldn't hold the car even on flat ground
  12. Usually if you go through the wiring to check that all the connections are clean and tight, no broken wires, good grounds you should be OK, also as mentioned, fluid level and the correct fluid...different for the fluid coupling and for the transmission...is important. Those M5's (which is what you have) and the next generation M6 are actually very simple and virtually bulletproof. You could also take the top off the governor (the one with 4 screws) and spray some carb cleaner in there and then some white lithium grease so it will spin freely. Also, the Imperial Club website has some troubleshooting guides from Chrysler posted online to walk you through the testing of these. James Douglas has also done some in depth research into the best modern fluid to use in the fluid coupling...check out his post on that. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=14473
  13. I have my old hard drive as a slave as well and it was a simple install in the "new" computer...I did it myself so it had to be simple. I am going to get a big external drive to keep all the big files on, freeing up the computer to work faster. As far as the flat screen goes, I've had mine for about 4 years and I would never go back to the CRT. Oh, and size does matter...bigger is better
  14. Fred, don't let the runs stop you from getting it OUT on the road!! The boost you'll get from the positive comments and just the fun of driving it will make you forget about any flaws. I'd give my left...well never mind, but I would love to be driving mine so throw the trim on and hit the road. Lotsa time next winter to tinker more. Does Manitoba get winter EVERY year???
  15. It's for the aftermarket windsheild washer...that's how you sprayed the water, by pumpung that plunger. Here's the business end:
  16. That looks great, Fred!!!! For a first timer at home...can't be beat. I'm envious!!!!! You don't have orange peel...THIS is orange peel!!!
  17. Seems as though they were
  18. Well, Almost Always: A Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer stops at a ranch up in Iron Mountain , B.C. and talks with the old ranch owner. He tells the rancher, 'I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs' The old rancher says, 'Okay, but don't go in that field over there' The RCMP officer verbally explodes saying, 'Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me.' Reaching into his rear pant pocket and removing his badge, the officer proudly displays it to the farmer. 'See this badge? This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish, on any land. No questions asked or answers given. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?' The old rancher nods politely and goes about his chores. Later, the old rancher hears loud screams and spies the RCMP officer running for his life and close behind is the rancher's bull. With every step the bull is gaining ground on the officer. The officer is clearly terrified. The old rancher immediately throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs..... 'Your badge! Show him your F*&%ing badge!
  19. That's because of the missing weight of the front clip. I had that trouble as well trying to install the springs in my Chrysler. I had to lay the engine over the frame (attached to the engine stand) and pile a buch of heavy parts on the frame to get the jack to lift the lower control arm into position to attach it before the frame started to lift off the jack stands.
  20. You guys make me laugh!!!!:p;)
  21. Did you put in a ballast resistor when you did the change over?
  22. Great pics, Harvey! My Dad and his buddies never got past the beer drinking and 500 cigarrettes when they went hunting OR fishing. never brought home a thing!
  23. That's not a shooting offence around here, as you can see by Buds truck and there are others...cars and trucks. Now, if you call a "model" a "toy", well, best be wearin' a vest!!
  24. Amazing! I wonder at what point WE dropped the ball in the car biz.
