  1. No Chebby, Greg. 455 Buick. There's one about 3 blocks from here in a 72 LeSabre. Been for sale for about 2 years $400. 440's are very hard to come by up here. All the Mopars that had 'em have rusted away. Seems the GM's lasted a bit longer. (the Fords of the era are gone too) I shoulda kept the 472 Caddy If I buy it on the weekend, it'll just get parked...got a Chrysler to finish first.
  2. That's a beauty, Don. I even have a set of 56 Caddy hubcaps collecting dust.
  3. Greg, to be honest, one slowpoke is enough. I'm thinking 455/turbo400 and disc brakes, but all else stock. Bob, I can't find "Special" on it anywhere but the Buick site calls it a Model 48D Two Door Deluxe Sedan in the Special Series. Not sure if the Canadian models are different. http://buicks.net/years/51.shtml Thanks for the offer, Dennis. I found out today there are good grille parts in the trunk. It seems complete otherwise.
  4. The one I have is taking too long, but this is in too nice a condition to pass up. Last licensed in '62. Virtually rust free...just a tiny bit on the drivers rear fender. Rockers and floors are solid. Straight Eight is there but dismantled. Plates are 1962! Didn't run when parked apparently:) Wasn't looking at all but it's parked right on the edge of the street not 10 blocks from home. It keeps calling to me:rolleyes: 1951 Buick Special DeLuxe
  5. My head gasket had "TOP" embossed on one side. I used copper spray.
  6. Looking real good. I know all about slow progress, but it'll get done. Keep up the updates.

  8. "I plan on driving the car deep into the California Central Valley over the weekend..." James, I got a chuckle from this as I expected the ending to read "and hitchhike home" I'm glad you got a handle on it and are driving the old gal again.
  9. Welcome to the forum...nice car!! Which Dakota rear did you use? What mods were required? Pat Calgary
  10. I have to agree completely with FM. Compared to alot of us, that car won't need much to get it going and once you take it out for a drive once, you won't likely sell it. What about your kids?...maybe they would love to have a car grampa owned when they are older. That said, you should have no problem selling the car for a fair price. (clean it up first)
  11. This is going to be big I think. NEW WORKING LINK http://www.wkyc.com/video/player.aspx?aid=35660&bw=
  12. I don't see the fascination of burying cars. It's not like they are going to go away and be a rarity in the future. Bury a new computer, a cell phone, a TV...no-one will know what they are AND they won't work in 50 years
  13. All they would have had to do is put in a sump pump...or two.
  14. Here's the naked system: Shows the fluid coupling (replacing the flywheel), then the regular clutch, then the M6 transmission.
  15. Some great info from the Imperial club: http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Lit/Master/012A/index.htm http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Lit/Master/012B/index.htm http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Lit/Master/024/index.htm Despite all the different names, yours is the M6 transmission. Pretty simple and bulletproof once you understand it.
  16. My '49 Chrysler has 3 screws on the back of the wheel center, then center comes off and then the horn ring.
  17. Maybe they should leave the cars parked and have a 100 yard dash on foot to work off the wings and Shlitz
  18. I noticed on the TV coverage that when they opened the trunk that part of the inner trunk lid metal was laying on the items in the trunk and the guy had to take it out.
  19. Maybe try reverse flushing with the garden hose in case something is blocking the flow.
  20. After reading that article, I'm not surprised really, but I'm sure disappointed. What a waste of a brand new car. But it's still incredibly interesting to see. Gonna be interesting to see ol' Boyd get 'er runnin' though
  21. I have a feeling you're looking at the gas and oil and trans fluid beside the car
  22. Would a fan shroud help?
  23. Sounds like too much fun, Fred. Is there a front seat in it now?
  24. They say the water has been over the roof many times judging by the debris. The way those things rusted...doesn't look good at all. Sad, really.
