  2. Found this shot on the official Gangster Squad website...
  3. Thank Bob. I love to see films like this. Here's the full movie, with the original soundtrack...
  4. pflaming... Ireland was a staging post for GIs coming to Britain during WWII, so I would guess that, because of all the military hardware that would have passed through, the Dodge name was well-known and well-respected by 1947. Plymouth and DeSoto wouldn't have been widely known makes.
  5. I just heard about this very interesting car... DE VALERA’S CAR 1947 Dodge, registration number ZH 1333. Originally maroon in colour, the car can seat 8 people plus the driver. It was purchased new for Sean T. Ó Ceallaigh during his term of office as President of Ireland. Sean T. Ó Ceallaigh personally drove the car for 12 years, until his presidential term ended in 1959. In 1959 Eamon de Valera purchased the car for his own personal use, and had it painted black. Although he continued to use the official Rolls Royce on formal state occasions, President de Valera often drove the Dodge to political functions around the country and regularly drove the car around County Clare. In 1988 the Dodge was presented to Clare County Council by Dr. Eamon de Valera and Ann de Valera on the wishes of their late sister, Margaret. A specially-built display garage was unveiled by President Mary Robinson in 1992.
  6. That little blue car is a Peugeot 203. Here's some info... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peugeot_203
  7. Hi Guys, Here is a nice album of pix from the Rhythm Riot, including many car shots and some lovely pictures of the amazing pedal car display... http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.377410355679830.94428.294092157344984&type=3 Also, here's a link to a video of the cruise... Hope you like it.
  8. Happy to meet up with your nephew Greg. Just ask him to email me when he knows the dates for his trip.
  9. Firstly, apologies for being a 'lurker' for such a long time. I've been too busy to post messages but I have been checking in on a fairly regular basis. I've been encouraged to get back in the saddle by a message from RoadKingCoupe. Jeff's in London this week and we met up on Wednesday evening to take a ride around town in my car. The weather was dry and cold - no problem for a hardy Canadian - so we cruised with the top down! It's always a pleasure to meet Forum members and talk about cars and the meaning of life!
  10. Thanks Guys, I'll order news seals and then get to work!
  11. Hi Guys, I just replaced inner and outer rear axle seals and one side is already leaking. Are there any common problems I should look out for. What could have gone wrong? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks. Robin.
  12. No Bob, I watched some of it on TV but didn't venture into the centre of the city. There were an estimated 1.5 million people on The Mall, leading up to Buckingham Palace. We did display a little bit of red, white and blue outside our house, though...
  13. Thanks guys. Some great advice, as always.
  14. Here's my Sumac Red 1947 P15 convertible...
  15. Hi All, Is it possible to get carb float chamber gaskets without buying full rebuild kits? I'm running twin carbs and both are a bit leaky, but I don't want to buy two kits if I can avoid it. Thanks. Robin.
  16. Oops. Sorry. Got my dates confused. 13th for a get-together should be cool. Please keep me posted. Robin@RockTheJoint.com
  17. I was thinking of Brooklands as it's quite near to Heathrow. But I guess it depends on what time BamfordsGarage will have to leave for the airport. I just checked Brooklands diary and there's a new event on that day... http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/index.php?/events/details/1940s-relived-from-the-home-front-to-the-front-line/
  18. What time will you be at Heathrow on 13th? And where will you be heading from there? I'm not too far away from there, in West London, so maybe I can bring my P15 out to meet you somewhere? In any case, have a good trip. Robin.
  19. Hitler's people's car was based on the Czech designed Tatra. He was intensely jealous of Czechoslovakian technology, engineering and design. Here's a 1933 model.
  20. I wonder what was under the hood of this P15?
  21. Try this - with the brackets and commas... (chrysler, plymouth, dodge, desoto) (1942, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962)
  22. Yep... the thread title should have said P15 and D25... I missed that.
  23. Great action shots of a P15 and D24 going for glory in their final throes...
  24. I think they are looking for Goldilocks...
