  7. I know about the Pine Tree sap, Every year we go to the Big Bear Lake Fun Run and spend a week on the mountian, when we get home I have to spend a day washing and waxing the car to get rid of the sap. Dennis:mad:
  8. There was a CHP Officer out here in the 60's who picked up old tires from the side of the road and put them in the Amboy Crater. He then set them on fire and called the Los Angeles TV stations and told them that the crater was erupting. Dennis:eek:
  9. Before cell phones we had CB radios in all of our cars and a base station. I would call as I left work to see if we needed anything from town, as we live 6 miles from the nearest store. We still use the handheld walky talkys as we caravan to car shows, each member of our car club has one. My handle is Capt'n Crunch and Kathy's is First Mate. Dennis:cool:

  12. For you who travel Old Route 66, Roy's Gas Station in Amboy has reopened. Dennis:D From the Desert Dispatch Newspaper. AMBOY - A historic landmark has reopened for business on the Historic Route 66. Beginning this week, travelers can once again enjoy stopping at Roy's Gas Station, which reopened at the intersection of Route 66 and Amboy Road in the community of Amboy. San Bernardino County boasts the longest uninterrupted stretch of Route 66 in the nation. The gas station's owner, Albert Okura, who also owns the successful Juan Pollo fast-food chain, purchased the town in 2005 and has been working to renovate and reopen Roy's Gas Station. He also has plans to open a cafe and mini-mart at the same location.
