  1. As information, there is a doings coming up next month in Kansas City, MO., put on by the Plymouth Owners Club. I am planning on trying to attend at least a portion of it. Probably no old Plymouth yet, but will be fun to see others. 2012 September Tour September 19-22, 2012, Kansas City, MO: 2012 National Fall Tour hosted by the Heart of America Region. Beginning on Wednesday, September 19th, there will be organized daily driving or bus tours throughout the Kansas City metropolitan and surrounding area. The Host Hotel is the Embassy Suites Hotel, 7640 NW Tiffany Springs Pkwy, Kansas City, MO 64153. Special room rates of $114+tax can be reserved by calling 816-891-7788 and asking for the Plymouth Owners Club rate or group code POC. The special rate ends August 27th. The rate includes free hot cooked to order breakfast, free internet, swimming pool, on-site restaurant and many other amenities, including free Managers Reception (Happy Hour). All tours leaving hotel will be approximately 80 miles or less round trip, and because of limited parking we will be offering a bus tour on Thursday. We strongly encourage the use of GPS devices, cell phones, and handheld walkie talkies to facilitate minimum confusion on tours. Early registration is encouraged. We will travel on less traveled roads when possible. There will be several "On Your Own" tours to local attractions: Harley-Davidson Plant; American Truck Historical Museum; Zona Rosa (shopping); and others.
  2. Met steveplym from Illinois at the Street Rod Nationals show in Springfield, MO earlier this summer. (Also met Phil Martin from Illinois a couple years ago, but can't find the pic at the moment.)
  3. ......found this set of drums named after him at the Springfield, MO swap meet a couple years ago. :D Any other musical talent amongst forum members out there????
  4. That Coatney fellow sure does get around doesn't he??? He's probably met more other forum members than anyone.
  5. Mark Aubuchon from St. Louis (P15 fourdoor) with some rims I found for him in Joplin. Went to pick them up in the convert.
  6. Don Coatney and Me on his home turf of Murfreesboro in Aug 2008. I'm wearing a T shirt sent by Robin in London, from the "Rhythm Riot" music show he produces each year. Me and Don & Chance Moore at the Lane Auto Museum in Nashville.
  7. Well, darn. Sorry I won't get to see you this year. Doubt there will be any other participats from this forum there.
  8. Looks like they intended to make this 50 Chevy a boattail........
  9. Looks like it went for $19.95.........ohhh......just read note above and it didn't even sell.......that's surprising that some dealer didn't buy it cheap and offer to sell for a couple million or so.
  10. .....this weekend (Aug 17 & 18) at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield. Not far off I44 and Highway 13 exit. Parking costs $5 on the grounds. Usually more "other" stuff than old Mopar, but you never know what might turn up. Planning to go at the present time. (Mentioned the swap in another post, but thought it worth giving it a separate notice.)
  11. And one totally crazy 51 or 52 Buick......... Here's a link to the thread with some nice pics taken by one fellow. Lots of larger pics like above.....probably not good with dial up. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=724836 And......this coming weekend it's time for the HAMB Drags Nationals right here in good ole Joplin, MO. Host hotel where most cars will be found is the Holiday Inn at I44 and Rangeline Rd. They head for the MoKan Dragway at around noon on Saturday. I plan on at least going to the Hotel and looking. Don't know that I'll be able to get to the drags. Haven't talked to H K Estes lately to see if he's driving his P15 coupe from Dallas - as he's done in past years. Think I'll take pics of any variety of old Mopars I see since others usually only shoot the Ford products and GM cars. And, the Springfield, MO swapmeet at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds is this weekend, too.
  12. I looked it up via MapQuest...........here's what it said: Joplin to Elko, GA... 14 hours 18 minutes / 848.89 miles. Don't know if I could get away with that trip, but it would be fun.
  13. And, regarding the smoke from your breather pipe......do you also get any smoke from where you fill the oil?? My car suddenly started smoking from the oil fill.........after I replaced the carb with one I bought from the area old parts dealer. I simply put it on and it seemed to work OK. But, apparently it was putting gas into the oil pan, as determined by my son in law. So, my point is - is your carb in truly good condition? It might be a contributor to the blow-by situation.
  14. Clay seems to be getting around pretty good....despite the cast. Getting more used to the new house and the layout, some of which is exactly opposite of where things were in the old house.
  15. Well.....would it be possible for the pan gasket to be leaking in that area?? Just tossing out a guess as I'm certainly no expert. I have found on my car that sometimes pan bolts work a bit loose.....
  16. Clay Diggs, of Wynne, ARK....along with his wife and daughter.....stopped by for a little while to see the new house and garage this afternoon. They are starting out on a trip in their motor home and were passing thru Joplin. Was good to see them. Clay has a nice P15 coupe and a Dodge pickup. Now, for the requisite picture (or it didn't happen) photo....on the front porch. Clay is the tall fellow. A good afternoon, indeed.
  17. Seller not knowee of what he speaks, maybe??
  18. or----no comprendo...
  19. OK.........but what is the box on the drivers side of the trunk? Congrats on the award. Car looks great
  20. Not sure the article answers any of the above question, but is an extensive history on Mr Briggs and the company. Here's the link is case anyone is interested................ http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/b/briggs/briggs.htm
  21. Those round lenses don't look right for a 41 Plymouth.............tail light. Would seem to be for the stop light.
  22. Hi Robert. It's me again. Just saw your post about the ol Dodge in the woods. Does it seem to be a good headlight switch with knob? If so, son in law's P15 could probably use it. What price would you want? Thanks. Bob
  23. Isn't it amazing how difficult it proves to be sometimes.....for two people to get together at a show or swap meet?? It seems timing is everything. I have enjoyed meeting some other forum members at various events..... always nice to visit in person.
  24. If I had those cans, I'd keep 'em for car related decorative items in the garage. I have other period Mopar things I've come across.....and like to look at them from time to time. Sometimes I use them in a trunk display at a car show. I've seen a can or two of the fluid at swap meets, but didn't check the price.
  25. Mark.......glad you had a good trip and made it home safely. Just shows this is a truly international forum nowadays. Was there a special occasion on tap, or does Pekka dress like that all the time? He looks mighty sharp there.
