  1. Dave IS a nice guy and seems to have good products........I have several items from him. A few years ago, I found an area guy who had a handful of n.o.s. complete sway bars for a P15 and others.... so I bought myself one to replace the one on the car with the bent bracket.
  2. I believe it has been done several times by assorted guys out there in hot rod land. I don't know any of them personally. An inquiry on the Jalopy Journal "HAMB" forum might come closer to a reply about that.....as many of their members favor putting a Chevy V8 in anything and everything. Of course, here on this forum, it is usually suggested that a Mopar engine would be a better choice, keeping it all in the family. There are some good Chrysler product engines and transmissions around.
  3. I don't know what seat to suggest.........but I bet Tim Adams has some suggestions as he has "customized" some old Mopars..........
  4. Here is a picture of the pretty much square hold down for a 6V battery in a 47 Plymouth. There is a fixed threaded rod attached to the inner fender well and a removable threaded rod with hook on one end for the side closest to the engine. A washer and nut go on each rod to complete the hold down process. As you can see, the loops are offset, one toward the front, the other toward the rear. If you can't find just the right exact item......there are lots of ways you can make something workable.
  5. Interesting..........don't know who was the owner............... http://www.vanderbiltcupraces.com/images/blog/Scan-845_edited-1.jpg http://www.vanderbiltcupraces.com/images/blog/Scan-837_edited-1.jpg And, they think this coupe was done by Derham................. From another forum...............There was a photo feature in Collectible Automobile August 2010 page 24. Says it was used as a show car by Dodge when new, then sold to someone in Vermont, then bought by a Dr Roger Leir in Thousand Oaks Calif in the 80s in badly deteriorated condition. Was restored and won a First Junior at the AACA Western Fall Meet at La Quinta Calif in 2009.
  6. You can have any style you want if you got the moolah! A nice looking vehicle.
  7. Good run Robin. Is that a 1/4 mile track like drag strips here in the U.S.? I think my fastest in the quarter mile back in 2005 was 57 mph.......and I was taking it kind of easy on the start to avoid messing up either clutch or trans. And there are no hop-ups on my engine except a regular .030 overbore. In line to make a run..........2005
  8. Just curious ---- did you get the older style wider tread radial............or that new "skinny" radial that looks like a bias ply tire? A few years ago, I ran some used radials on my 47 Plymouth..........they were the old wide style..........they were very smooth, did not wobble, and masked the shortcomings of the somewhat worn front end. So, you might have a faulty tire.......I would certainly suggest some further checking. Are you sure your rims are true also?
  9. Did that model provide one hold down like a long bolt fixed in place? Or do you have to provide both sides of the hold down? There are numerous configurations of hold downs for older cars........sometimes you have to look in various places to see those styles. I would suggest checking on eBay and the internet too.
  10. These skirts will fit my 1947 Plymouth..........they measure 33 3/4" long by 11" tall. Don't know how close that would be to what you need.
  11. It's called the Rock N Roll Car & Bike Show, held every weekend at the Pavillions shopping center, 9140 E Indian Bend Rd, Scottsdale. It was started around 20 years ago by the owner of the McDonalds restaurant on the site. Now they host 250 to 500 cars and 150 cycles on any given night. I can vouch for that as I went a couple summers ago with a nephew who lives there. I have noticed that when the Barrett Jackson auction is going on, some of the stars of the old car related tv series have been making an appearance at the cruise-in while in town. No entry fee.....but you gotta get there pretty early to get a parking space. We are going to Scottsdale this week to visit my wife's sister for her birthday......but will be attending an event about 75 miles away on Saturday night. However, I plan to visit the Barrett Jackson Showroom, old car museum one day. Maybe try to find Desert Valley Auto Parts also. Don't need anything, but might be fun to visit. Have watched their reality tv show numerous times.
  12. Good luck on that project Howard. You might send a picture of how this new type box looks before you install it, if possible.
  13. My parts manual for a P15 lists a couple of screws used with the glove box....might be same for yours.......... Screw, rd-hd., slotted, S., cd-pltd., No. 10-24 x 3/4" (bottom). Screw, tapping, rd-hd., slotted, type A, S., cd-pltd.,No. 10-12 x 1/2" (top and side) Washer, plain, small, S., cd-pltd., No. 10. Under the heading of "Box--Glove" in the parts manual.
  14. Clipons are good........they were authentic to "in the day"..........our family's P15 had a rectangular mirror rather than a round one.....that was probably simply my Dad's choice. I found this round one as a used item at a swap meet. There is no piece underneath for added strength, but have not had any problems with stability so far. Robin from the U K, and some others, have used a certain brand of mirror that seems good and sturdy with a round head. Not a clip on. Maybe one of them can say where these are found.
  15. As to what was the original color of your car...........simply be a detective............look at the door edges--do they appear to be original paint? How about under the door panels? Behind various upholstery components. Inside the trunk. The firewall....it normally was body color of the car. Underneath the car in out of the way places. Hopefully there would be enough matching color spots to determine what the original shade must have been. The color chart can show you the original shade and the name of the color. If you want an original looking color........you just need to work with a paint store to mix up something similar in today's paints. In my case........my car was Sumac Red (a dark red) when new, then was repainted a shade of blue probably in the late 1950s or the 60s. I like the 1967 Ford "Sunshine Yellow" color........so that's what it is. Suits me. So......suit yourself.
  16. That's about right Vince..........I think the P15 was made for either 3 or 4 months of 1949......so you could call them a "carryover" or whatever you want. Everything about them is the same as the 1946-48 P15s. The motor number on the side of the block begins with "P15" and matches a number on the driver's side of the frame, and was also used on the title of these cars when new. Over the years, some people have replaced the motors therefore that number will not match. Some people have gotten the license bureau to change the title number to match one on the door post, which seems most similar to today's "VIN". So.......various reasons why the "serial number" on the title may not correspond to anything you see at first. Here is a picture of the location of my frame ID on my P15. Had to do some wire brushing to actually read those numbers. They would be what was on the original engine and on the title to the car. Hope this helps. Numbers at top edge, in front of gas filler neck.
  17. Seems like it's sometimes difficult for shops to "get it right", no matter what you pay them......even if they are supposed experts. It's a good looking Plymouth and hopefully with some remedial work it will run better.
  18. Look Similar on all............
  19. Looks to me like you have some good information there. Regarding the switch......check all your possible sources.......eBay (and try to correspond with some sellers who seem to have a lot of mopar stuff).......Hemmings Motor News ads under Plymouth Parts for sale (I think it is online these days)...... swap meets......etc. There are still some parts out there --- the trick is finding them. Followed by the prices asked by some sellers nowadays.

    Oil

I have used Valvoline 10W-40 for a long time......it seems to hold up well and stay with the engine longer than some other brands. My cars have always used at least a bit of oil over the years. Just my two cents worth.
  21. moparkenan I think is his handle over in Turkey. Here is a link to some current listings on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/sch/moparkenan/m.html?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEFSXS%3AMESOI&_trksid=p2053788.m1543.l2654 You can contact him thru eBay using their "ask the seller a question" feature.
  22. Would your friendly neighborhood auto parts store have a pigtail?
