  2. Winter is here for sure. 3 to 5 MORE inches of snow today and it's 22 degrees out right now. Ugh, more shoveling.
  3. The ground cable to the frame or engine block of the 6v vehicle should be the last connection in the sequence and the first to be disconnected to keep arcing damage to a minimum and away from either battery. You can do a little bit of arc welding if you are not careful.
  4. A month in Maui would be very nice right about now or at any time really. 27 degrees here right now.
  5. We ended up with about a foot of snow and it is no longer "light, fluffy snow". It gets heavier with every shovel full.
  6. We have about 30.25 inches...oh wait. That's the barometric pressure. There's about 6 inches of light, fluffy snow out there but it's still snowing at 9:45 pm. It sure is cold though.
  7. Or a gultch. Back on topic, I like the look of a visor. I think the Dodge Magnum Wagon should have one.
  8. My daughter recently spent the night in Tok, Alaska. It was -40. That's minus 40 degrees F and C (use those letters as a descriptor as you see fit).
  9. Some of those WW1 aeroplanes could turn off cylinders ( ground out) to control speed and power otherwise they were 'WOT' as Greg said. Anyone that has the opportunity to visit The Rhinebeck Aerodrome should do so. During the summer months of course. Well worth the visit for the airshow as well as all of the static displays.
  10. The song "The Hot Rod Race" by Arkie Shibley and the Mountain Dew Boys was the first of at least 5 'parts' of an on going saga, if you will about hot rodding. Then Charley Ryan wrote and performed "Hot Rod Lincoln" which is the one everybody's heard albeit in the variation done by Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airman, the biggest difference being the 12 cylinder engine vs the 8 cylinder. I made a CD with probably 15 or more versions of "The Hot Rod Lincoln" done by various artists including Jim Varney and Johnny Cash. My favorite version is by Bill Kirchen.
  11. Or twirling batons.
  12. Phantom Umbrella? About $700 a piece. There's two of them.
  13. Off the interweb I believe.
  14. Old age is when you go to bed and wonder if you will get up in the morning.
  15. There is a lot of good information there. Just change the 6 to an 8 in your title.
  16. Somebody liked this enough to win the bid at $65,000.00.
  17. It confuses the electrons.
  18. I have the same problem. Everything I store under the bench does that. It must be some kind of magnetic field in the cement floor or something.
  19. Nice match on the door handle.
  20. There is a nice little write up here; www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/92182/pid/634009/ It's a chevy site but the theory should be universal
  21. Smokey Yunick put a plexiglass window in a chevy oil pan and watched what happened to the oil. I believe he ran it up to around 7000 rpm. The oil would 'follow' the crank and looked like ropes. Then he designed a windage tray for it and that took care of that. He also used plexiglass valve covers and a variable strobe light to watch and photograph what was going on at various rpms like valve float.
  22. Turnip over Turkey...what are you, a Canadian?
