  4. Unfortuanly I am too young to have the honer of knowing any 1940's music. what genre would 1940's music be? or who are some of the popular band/singers of that time. I would like to tune in a few songs a copy them to paly in my 47 ply. Thanks Alex
  5. If you a little familiar with electrical concepts and can solder, I can help you fix your own radio. Take out the tubes one at a time and clean the pins with some fine sandpaper. then reinsert in to the radio, power it up on a 6 volt positive ground supply and check that they glow. Next check if your vibrator is working (you should hear a vibrating hum coming from the can.) If not most of the time you can bring it back to life by cleaning the contacts points inside. Pry open the can at the base and clean the points that are located inside with a business card. Don’t use sand paper else you will file away the platinum plating on the points. If you still can’t get the vibrator to vibrate you will need a new one. Check with antique automobile radio as they have new solid state vibrators that last for ever. If the tubes glow and the vibrator is vibrating, the next step is to replace all the wax paper capacitors. However before doing so there are a few quick tests that you should perform with your multi testor. If you want proceed further let me know and Ill help you along. I have fixed many tube radios. They are very simple devices. Cheers, Alex
  6. great work. very inspriring. anyone know what the color would have been on a 1951 coronet?
  7. Frankie A totaly grand total of 5550 were made durinng the years of 49 50 51 52 some folks are sugjesting no more then 10 are running today. For the 10 years I have been in this hobby, I have not yet come accorss another one yet.
  8. perhaps I might be interest. can you post or email me a picture. avezbakiyev@yahoo.com
  9. I have full respect for all types of restorations. However in your case since the 1950 coronet convertible is an extremely rare car, going all original might have a better return on value in the long run. You would be surprised at how well the original 6 cylinder flat head runs in these cars. they are strong and help plenty of power to keep up in modern traffic. However I agree with you on the gyromatic as its not my favorite either. Thanks to a nice gentleman on the board, I now have a 3 speed manual from a 1951 dodge that I will be replacing it with.
  10. hello neighbor! I just sent you a PM. lets get together.
  11. Welcome Joe you will find the members of this board to be a great set of people with great knowlge to share. Aside from my 47 plymouth, I too own a dodge coronet convertible (1951). I hope to have it finished and on the road befor the winter is out. Good luck Alex
  12. thanks for the direction dennis. like Bob said you can get a new set for $1600 but I am not ready to spend such money. 300-400 would be more what I am looking to spend for now. great find! post some picture of the car with the wheels on. Alex

  14. I was hoping to avoid having to buy the diagram as this is something that is normally free and mounted inside the radio. The following web site should have it but I cant seem to find the Philco equivalent. http://www.nostalgiaair.org/Resources/ perhaps someone has a copy they can share? I am particularly looking for the capacitor values in the radio. Thanks Alex
  15. I am looking for the schematic diagram for the Mopar 812 radio (1951 dodge) there is a web site that allows you to download the diagrams for free, but they don't have anything listed under Mopar 812. http://www.nostalgiaair.org/Resources/ Perhaps some one know what the Philco equivalent model number is for this radio? Thanks Alex
