If you a little familiar with electrical concepts and can solder, I can help you fix your own radio.
Take out the tubes one at a time and clean the pins with some fine sandpaper. then reinsert in to the radio, power it up on a 6 volt positive ground supply and check that they glow.
Next check if your vibrator is working (you should hear a vibrating hum coming from the can.) If not most of the time you can bring it back to life by cleaning the contacts points inside. Pry open the can at the base and clean the points that are located inside with a business card. Don’t use sand paper else you will file away the platinum plating on the points. If you still can’t get the vibrator to vibrate you will need a new one. Check with antique automobile radio as they have new solid state vibrators that last for ever.
If the tubes glow and the vibrator is vibrating, the next step is to replace all the wax paper capacitors. However before doing so there are a few quick tests that you should perform with your multi testor.
If you want proceed further let me know and Ill help you along. I have fixed many tube radios. They are very simple devices.
Cheers,
Alex
