Ed very nice car! Bob I Love the color of your car.
The pictures from Bob and Ed seem to suggest that the snaps screw over the welting strip. I guess we were over thinking it and thought there was a fancier finish that were were not understanding.
OK great, I think I am good.
Tim-
I have no problem to pay to play, however that does not mean I should not be a smart shopper. Many times (not always) you can get the same exact item for much less. Each company has its own over head and profit margin. I have my choice to research and shop as I see fit. Some of these companies fail to recognize that we the shopper are no dummy.
As always thank you to this board and the fine members who offer their knowledge and expertise.
Thank you,
Alex
Bob, this is great. Just what I was looking for. The installer and I are surprised that that the snaps are screwed in right over the welting trim. I guess thats the way to do it? I wonder if its a litle different on the 49-52 Dodges?
If anyone else has toughts or pictures please chime in. We am very puzzeled.
Freddie thanks for the details! Bummer, I was hoping some one other than steel would have it. These guys are pricy.
I welcome any adtional comements and or feedback.
Thank you
Hi folks,
I bought a project car that needs its top corrected and installed. The installer is asking for a pictures of where the rear snaps are installed. Do they go over the trim (fabbric welting)? could some one please post a few pictures of how they have it on their car?
Also what is the weather strip called that is installed on the bows? I need to get new ones. where has them and what are they called?
Thanks!
Alex
Tim,
Thanks for your suggestion, but my question is for "feeback" with regards to peoples experiance with the variose vendors who sell carpet kits.
Alex
Great feedback thanks!
Seems JC Whitney is mediocre with regards to fit? If anyone has pictures accompanied with the vendor used, that would be great. I tried the local upholstery shop, but they want too much ($450). I welcome more feedback.
Thanks for the ebay link, but I am not sure how well it would work as it has no accommodations for the hump.
Thanks,
Alex
Hi Gents
what are some of your experiences with replacing the front & rear mat with new carpet? Who are some of the vendors that sell a good fitting mat?
I would like to replace it in my 51 dodge coronet convert.
I think it should be the same fit for 49-52 Plymouth.
thanks
Alex
I live in your area. Feel free to metion what you have for sale. I might be interested or know of people who are.
FYI-
Every saturday @ 6pm is the "Friendlys" carshow on RT9 in old bridge (huge show 250+ cars). Come out and join us. Let me know when you will be coming and Ill make sure to be there.
these are the ones I have. they are not tall enough to stop the hood from hitting the fender. If any one knows a source where they have taller ones please let me know.
thanks
Alex
I have these exact ones, but I find they are too short and dont clear top edge of the fender. The hood will never rest on them no matter how low I set the hood.
Ill take a picture of it tonight and will post here.
Gents
How tall should the hood bumpers be? The ones I got don’t seem to be tall enough. They sit just below the fender lip and not high enough to hold the hood. The guy who sold them said they are the correct ones. I guess, will have to buy a new set. What are the correct dimensions I should be looking for?
Thanks,
Alex
Its slowly coming together. Not too bad other thand the hood gaving me a hard time, but I think I now got it.
Quick uestion:
what is the typlical gap between the hood and the front fender brace (the area where the badge is mounted, see attached picture). Right now its at about a 1/4".
Darren and others thanks for all the feedback!
most of the tips have been very helpful. I started to put everything back together as per some of the recommendations. Most of the sheet metal is back on. shortly after this picture was taken I attached the hood. All is going well, however I am struggling to adjust the hood gap between the cowl and hood. I need to push the hood further back as the gap is too big, but it won’t go. Need to get creative as such are suggesting.
Alex
Thanks for the feedback. I have good pictures which should help. However I don’t think my challenge will be remembering how it bolts back, but rather the best way to align everything in relationship to each other. (I had everything off including the hood hinges)
I thought perhaps there was a trade secret or rule on how to best do this or what to start with. Maybe it’s not going to be as hard as I make it out to be.
I start this weekend. Ill post pictures as soon as I am done.
Thanks,
Alex
Hi Gents,
Over the winter I disassembled my front clip a had it painted. While the parts were at the painter, I detailed the engine bay. This included removing and painted the radiator support shell.
I am now ready to put it back together, but I fear it won’t align correctly.
Question: what should I start with? I suspect I should first correctly position and align the radiator support? Any tips how to do it and in what sequence to assemble everything?
Thanks
Alex
Hi Gents,
I am looking for the "wire type" hose clamps to use in the plymouth. Call me strange, but I am looking for reproduction rather then NOS (I like the shinny Zinc look). Most vendors seems to have NOS. Any thoughts or Ideas who might have reproduction wire hose clamps?
sizes neeed 5/8", 1", 1.5"
Thanks,
Alex
