  1. come to think of it. Any chance I can get away with just honeing them? the above pic is an example of how bad they are. Thanks
  2. Sorry typo: I mean to say "I am NOW flushing the system with alcohol"
  3. Sounds good! Thanks for the note, I guess i will go with the cheaper Dorman. may I express how I hate DOT 3 fluid. I have brand new brake system front to back. after 2 year siting idle all the wheel cylinder and master went bad! I am not flushing the system with alcohol, after which i will convert to DOT 5 silicon. Shel- thanks for the discount code! much appreciated. (BTW-still get around to swapping the trans. need to finish the P15 before moving in to the 51 coronet)
  4. Are the 49-51 Plymouth/dodge wheel cylinders interchangeable with the 46-Plymouth? Rockauto.com has a good deal on wheel cylinders but only for the 49. Need to know if I can use 49 on my 47. Anyone have positive experience with Dorman wheel cylinders? Thanks Alex
  5. Thanks Alan, I looked the both links, but it does not seem they will work. one is an amp, the other is an AM radio. buying a cheap Fm radio and transferring its guts in to the Mopar 802 is the perfect idea, but I still have not found a suitable donor radio. the hunt continues. cheers Alex
  6. No problem, I figured as such. Thanks anyway.
  7. Bob, good thought. I have exploeder that avenue, but it not the easy. most AM/FM radios are 12 volt neg ground. what make this circute unique is that is 6 volt with a built in 88 watt amp. I have even thought of using a househiold portable radio that runs on 6 volts, but I cant find anything that is sutible. what key is to be able to use the tube radio's orginal tuning block to oprate the soldstate tunner. For those who had these radios converted: If its not too much trouble please let me know if there is any stamping on the electronic board that would give away the manufature and or company that makes them Thanks, Alex
  8. Very sorry to hear the bad news. It hurts me seeing an antquie car geting hurt like this. I am glad you and the other driver are OK. If you are comfortable with it, please share with us what the insurance company will do and or offer. I always wonder how hard it is to make a claim and what the compensation is on these old cars. Alex
  9. Perhaps its too much of a restrictive filter. try a different brand of filter?
  10. Pete looks like they did a great job on your radio, clean and neat. Question: does anyone know where I can buy the circuit board that's in pets radio? I would propbably know what to do with it, if only i can get one. Pete: does the circuit board have any manufacture/model or reference number stamped on it that I can maybe Google? Thanks Alex
  11. Bob, thanks for the reply. sounds like you got a great deal on the wire wheels. I doubt Ill ever get as lucky. $1600 is a bit much for pocket. perhaps i might get lucky on ebay for set of per owned owns one day. cheers! Alex
  12. At one point I was looking to find Am/FM solid state board to retro fit in to the tube radio. But no one wanted to sell me one. its a big trade secret and they charge big bucks to convert your tube radio in to Am/FM. If any one knows where we can buy these Am/FM solid-state boards please let us know. I cant imagine it being to hard to do especially if you know electronics. I end up fixing the tube radio by changing out all the wax paper capacitors. The radio works great, but I sure would love to have FM via the orginal radio.
  13. Nice wheels Bob! where did you pick up the Kelsey Hayes? May I ask what they cost? I sure would loved a set on my 51 coronet vert, but I understand they are very expensive.
  14. Ill still have the fluid drive and plan to keep it. I thought perhaps the carb that was in the car now was tuned and or confugured exclusivly for a gyromatic. Perhaps not. Thanks!
  15. A quick questhion which may apply to this thread. I am about to switch from a M6 gyromatic to a 3 speed manual transmission. I currently have a BXVES-3 carburator with dash pot and all. will it be neccsary to change my carburator to accomotdate the 3 speed manual? Thanks
  16. Hands down, it will make a huge difference!
  17. Thanks for all the feedback. I contacted a few of the links mentioned. all seem reasonable. Jerseyharald, I did not know you are my neighbor. we should perhaps meet. Ill try the local place you mention. Thanks!
  18. I paid 3.22 this evening in NJ
  19. Thanks for all the feedback. Looks like I will send it out to get resleeved. 2nd question if I may. in that case, who has a good deal a rebuild kits.

  21. what vendor/dealer would have a good deal on a brand new master cylinder? everything I am checking seems to be so pricey these days.
  22. Thanks, sounds like it will work! The gyromatic is a neat transmission, but I am not sure I like it. its slow and guzels gas becuased of the wasted energy starting out in high. Alex
  23. Thanks for all the feedback. Someone is offering a 3 speed manual from a 51 medowbrook. Would that work on my 51 coronet with out having to mess with the input shaft and or drive shaft. would I have to use his bell housing? how involved would it be to modify the shift linkage? is it a matter of changing the bends a little or new ones need to be made from scratch? I apologies for the armature questions. I appreciate the advice and direction.
  24. Hello guys As some may remember I am plagued with a bad gyromatic (m6) transmission in my 51 dodge vert. with Hershey coming up I was thinking of going there to pick something up. Question: Can I maybe install a manual trans to mate with the fluid drive? if so what would be a direct fit considering the fluid drive and drive shaft? What should I look for? Attach is a pic of what I currently have in the car.
  25. Please post what your kit inlcludes and or perhaps a picture. Thanks
