  1. What were the factory transmission options for a 1951 dodge coronet? currently its has a Gyromatic. I am considering to switch to a 3 speed manual with OD. was that an option back in 51 for the dodge coronet? Thanks Alex
  2. my pick is 4th from the top blueish/green. It screams classic 50's I also like the yellow/gold color posted by one member
  3. Thanks guys. its amazing how much is out there. I was getting ready to user an inner tube, when my wife asked me to pick up a few light bulbs. I went over to Lowes (home improvement supper store), to pick up a Few bulbs, and by chance noticed a product that would work perfectly for my application. Its the exact felt weatherstripping i was looking for. 1.25" wide and comes in a 17' role (non adhesive). Thank you for your inputs Alex
  4. inner tube- nice idea. what is cap mounting tape? Thanks
  5. thats is a good idea, however I think I would prefer something with out an adhesive backing. what do you think? any other thoughts or ideas? Thanks
  6. what off-the-shelf product do you guys use as a gasket to seal the floor pan. The orginal product was some kind of felt. Anything at Home Depot that might work? Thank you-
  7. Thanks pat I just put my manual 3 speed on the scale and it it registered 71 lbs. I wonder how much heavier the gyromatic is. I am thinking they should close in weight as they are close in size. was it pricey to ship? who did you use? Thanks Alex
  8. Anyone have an idea what a gyromatic or manual 3 speed weighs (with out fluid drive)? Thanks Alex
  9. Thanks James Ill check him out!
  10. I bought the "Complete Hydraulic lift" http://www.completehydraulic.com/ Turns out most of these cheaper "made in china" lifts are all identical regardless of the name brand. The US vendors/dealers put on a sticker and sell them as there own. Dennis if you take a close look we have the same exact lift. I have the same plastic blocks that run inside the 4 posts. That being said the Back Yard buddy & Rotary brands are made in the US and have a different design. Thanks Dennis, I remember studying your pictures when deciding to go with this lift. Although it has a different name brand its still the same exact lift.
  11. Thanks Norm unfortunately George does not work on Gyromatics, or stock parts for them. It was worth the try anyway. Please man however! Alex
  12. Norm, Nice work! who is the old timer parts guy? Now that I have my lift, I am considering to take down my faulty gyromatic M6 transmission and try to rebuild it. Please post his contact info if possible. Thank you, Alex
  13. I too have a mild miss at idle, as if from time to time i miss a spark. I alway wondered what that was. I tried everything but could never get it perfect. I wonder if switching to point less system like a Petronix would remedy the problem. Thanks Dave-
  14. Interesting point Norm. Although in my case the garage is attached to the house, I will keep on eye on its level. I guess you just never know. Thanks Alex
  15. what kind of wobble are you guys referring to? what symptoms would it show when running? Thanks, ALex
  16. You guys are all welcomed to come by, especially those who are in the area. Harold, you kind of live next door to me. I am located in Monroe NJ. I would love to meet you and the car. stay in touch Alex-
  17. Thanks Pat, I will try the folks at the imperial club. The car had a frame of resto back in 1991. since then the car did not get much mileage. The leaky master cylinder striped some of the black chassis paint. It hurt when I saw that. since then i converted to DOT 5. I hope to avoid any more paint striped if I have another brake fluid accident. Thanks Alex
  18. Yeah its kind of new, but they still make the torsion system. In fact when went to the parts store they tried to talk me in to converting to the torsion system so to properly counter weight the door. Turns out I did not need. For safety, I have a steal cable running through the spring. if the spring snaps it goes no where. its will just sit like beads on a string. cheers,
  19. Greg G hit the nail on the head. The one in my 1951 coronet vert is not good. its grinds as it shifts up. electrics seem fine. so rather then mess with it I am thinking of just replacing it with a good working one. My understanding is that my 51 coronet has an M6. I probably just need the unit with out the fluid drive. please see the attached pic Thank you, Alex
  20. With the gear head that I am, It was a life long dream to have one in my own house. I must admit this is one of those cheap ones (made in china). However the hydraulics is made in the US. Before buying one i went to see it live and did some research. I found that most lifts fail because the cables slip off the pulleys while the lift is in rest mode (lift is resting on safety notches). if the lift is raised while one cable is slipped off, the lift will become unbalance and collapse. to prevent this from happening: keep the cables slightly tight, and anchor the 4 post in the the concrete. otherwise the lift is very strong and made with extra heavy steal. The garage is just about 12ft tall. If you are not planing to store a tall car (like the p15) you don't need 12 ft ceilings. 10ft is all you need for service work. I had to add extra track so that the garage door goes further up before making the turn. attached are 2 pics one with the door open the other with it closed. it took my friend and I about 2 hours assemble/install the lift and about another 3 hours to re-work the garage door. The lift is a must have for those who like to tinker. It opens up a new world. I had a bad tie rod end that need to be replaced. with out the lift it would have been a half day project. jack the car, find a good point for the jack stands, take off the wheel ....ect. Now that I had the lift, I just went under the car, and took care of the tie rod end in 30 min.
  21. Hi guys Thank you all for your input. A few months back I was looking to buy a car lift. I Finlay did it. here it is installed. I had to re-work the garage door to clear the 2nd car. no big deal. All is well now. I love it Alex
  22. Seems the times have changed rt 9 free hold is in the area. I know where the place is. I will give them a try. Thank you-
  23. Thanks guys, I had the manual with me, but they just dont want to spend the time. I guess I give it another try with a few other local shops. Thank you
  24. Hello guys If anyone knows of Gyromatic trans for sale please let me know. Email avezbakiyev@yahoo.com Thanks!
  25. thanks guys. shops these days don't know much. All they want is a quick buck from simple service/maintenance. They have this fear that they will spend half a day figuring out how to align the car.
