  1. Caravan, safety in numbers, is a great way to travel with our old vehicles. At the cruise in here each saturday evening, the cars with the old engines get alot more attention than the cars with the chromed out 350 chevys.
  2. I boutht the engine for my 38 in 1987. The engine had been sitting along time. It smoked alot. I put in new filter and oil, 5w30 with a quart of ATV, and ran several times at a fast idle, each month with 93 Octane with a little 2 stroke oil added to that. After changing the oil to 15w 40 oil, the smoking was gone. Still good today.....good luck, Bob........
  3. I wish I had owned it. That looks like a 36 Dodge tail light.
  4. Were you on the "Morning Show" on TV some time back?? I seem to remember (not too often), the Dead Body Guy on there.
  5. I bought all new glass for my 38 Coupe at a local glass shop . It was priced very reasonable. The windshield was $80, and I do not remember what the smaller glass cost.
  6. Joel, always remember to wear your seat belt, helmet, boots, gloves, gun, bug spray, googles. I used seat belts to hold the battery, fuel cell, etc. in place,( I ran out of barb wire).
  7. When you make it to Tn, come on over to Va. I will take you for a cruise ON the 38(Not in the 38)
  8. Glad you got the 36 running. My 36, 37, & 38 tranmissions, I drained the heavy oil and replaced with automatic trans fluid for awhile. My 38 trans does real good now with the heavy oil back in.
  9. I seen a program on TV some time ago of painting a big boat with the brush method. Doing about 2 square feet at a time, using a medium brush first to apply paint, and using a very soft brush to blend the paint. The boat paint was very expensive, and the results looked very good. I used Tractor Supply paint on my utility trailers, but it does not hold up well to sunlight.
  10. The picture of the 37, is a 1936, great find.........
  11. Car ports are not expensive, and will hold 2 Plymouths, or 2 Dodges, or 1 of each...........Bob...
  12. Some time back I could not log on for several days. I had to change my name and password to get back on here.
  13. My little 36 Dodge enginr is very reliable. I have had it over 20 years. Starts very easy on the coldest mornings. I can let in idle for an hour on the hotest day, without overheating. It has plenty of power for the type car and weight of the car, it is in. Slant six replaced the flathead in cars around 1960, but the flathead was available in some trucks until 62. Military and industrial flatheads were used way past 62.
  14. I believe this is the rear window trim for a 41 or 40 Dodge Coupe, but am not sure. This one is several inchs smaller than my 48 Dodge 4 door.
  15. "Shoes",,,,,let me write this down for my next purchase. The wife LOVES shoes, and I love Plymouths...........
  16. A big WOW,,,,looking excellent...........
  17. I will be 62 in August this year. Except for my time in the Army, I had the same job right after high school, until the company moved operation to Cinn, ohio for a couple of years, and then to Canada. Now I need a job to get some rest.
  18. I will try the anti-seize, thanks, I had forgotten about that. I never did get the hubs off my 38 Coupe.
  19. My wife is in China, so I have a little time to hide them, camo tarps, new evergreen trees, neighbors yards, "a guy is paying me to keep them honey", etc.
  20. And now I can continue on my Dodge collection.
  21. I recently brought home another 37 Plymouth, a 2 door sedan this time. Now I have three 1937 Plymouths, and two 1938 Plymouths. I will never get them finished, but that is okay.
  22. I see many people have a difficult time getting the rear brake hubs off. My Dodge hubs were not too difficult with the large hub puller, but I was thinking as to why these are difficult, and also what could be done to make it not so difficult in the future. The inside of the hub seems very smooth. The axle spindle is not smooth, more like a fine wash board. Very poor workmanship from the factory. The key way is extremely tight. To make it a less difficult to remove in the future, I polished the axle spindle with different grades of sandpaper, hope to smooth it some. The keyway I sanded also, and filed some on the sharp corners, which should leave some room for lube. I wonder if a lube or wax should be applied also.
  23. I like my Asian Stripper(Kawasaki). It really gets the rust off.
  24. On the 49 Dodge I bought recently, I put in new rain water and run the engine at operating temp for a few minutes, and after cooling off, loosen the lower radiator hose to drain. I do this each week-end. I am doing the brake system, some body work, etc., so the Dodge will not be on the road for awhile, so a good time to keep flushing the coolant...........
  25. would make a good barbeque grill also.
