  1. Yes, but most comedians are not Mopar nuts as we are, so make all the jokes you want to here.
  2. Wind tunnel tests would be very interesting on our older cars. The square bodied cars of the 80s like my 90 Plymouth Acclaim would have a poor wind tunnel test. My 2000 Avenger I believe would have an excellent wind tunnel test. My 38 Coupe test would be very interesting.
  3. Is this the guy that said, "If you can find a better car, then buy it", like the K-car? Well, I guess alot of people found a better car than the K-car, and bought it............
  4. You may gain more power with many modern improvements, but I believe fuel economy will stay the same. My 1971 Chevy truck gets better MPG than my 1999 Chevy truck, with about the same size engine. My 1990 99HP 4 cyl Plymouth got 30MPG, where as my 2000 Avenger V6 132HP gets 35MPG. Good fuel economy comes from many factors, like total weight, wind design, good power to weight ratio, trans, gearing, tires, etc. Not enough power, or too much power can lower fuel economy, 90HP not enough, but 200HP too much. I read that turbo, and superchargers give alot more power, but do not change the MPG. My 36 engine is rated at 84 HP, and my 56 engine is rated at 132Hp. I believe the 56 with a 5 speed trans will be more fun to drive.
  5. With compression that low, and engine smoking, you are probably due for an overhaul. You could add STP oil treatment, that may slow down the smoking and rattle.
  6. Have you done a compression check???
  7. Norm was a very intelligent person from reading many of his post. He had a deep understanding of what our hobbie is all about and that many of us enjoy the hobbie in a different way...
  8. Exhaust-y..............I have been in China almost 3 weeks, in one of the big cities, Chongqing. The exhaust smell is very bad. It looks like the smokey mountains here, if not worse. My throat stays irritated all the time. The odor is in the air, water, food, cloths, everything.
  9. I seen on my truck, that the muffler has a small hole at the bottom rear end to let out moisture that will build up in the muffler and make the bottom half rust very fast from the inside. I plan on doing this to my Coupe if and when I put a muffler on it.
  10. I did this went taking apart my 37 and 38 so as know which car the item came from with a note as to any flaw to take notice to. I have many parts from my uncle's 36, so I try to label everything since my memory is not very good. Some small parts I have acquired in the box may be nos, water pump, oil pump, but I would not sell them as such. I put item and box into a bigger box with a note of what I know of the item and back into storage......
  11. I found very thick leather mats while on my trip to China. These would look real nice in the trunk or bed of a truck. Here the leather mats are used on a sleeping bed. They have very hard beds here.
  12. On my two 37s and two 38s , I can not tell the difference in them, 2 door or 4 door model. The 39s will work but are not the same fender. The front fenders and hoods are also different from 37 to 38 models.
  13. On one of my Coupes I have 2.15 15 inch on the rear, and 13 inch on the front. I tried 12 inch wheels on the front, but will not fit.
  14. For the $ value, a long ago I bought a 77 Corolla for $50, that I used for years, until he salt eating eat made it unsafe to drive. My 38 Couple I bought in 1986 for $400 was a great value. Have no idea what is worth now............
  15. On my 37 Plymouth, it has the crankout windshield. On my 38 Plymouth, it does not have the crankout windshield.
  16. Hood is 36 Dodge. Has plenty of Patina, I would not want to mess with that.............
  17. Here is my donor for my 37 Coupe, 1995 Ranger, V6-Auto-Air-Cruise-Power Steering... $500.00 ... The most difficult, is cutting the dash to fit. Trying to keep my 38 close to original, so may never get into the 37 project. I chose the Ranger, so as the Dodge wheels fit, and the dimensions fit good. The steering wheel to dash distance, and left of center are a good fit. Steering wheel to windshield has good match distance also.
  18. I bought a 95 Ford Ranger to put one of my Coupe bodies on. The width and length is a good fit. The S10s are a good fit also. Easier to change the body to the complete frame rather than do cut and weld sections. 5 speeds are a good way to improve driveability behing the flathead is you want to go that way. I am working on adapting a 5 Speed Ranger trans, that I do not need an adaptor for. 83 to 87 Ranger 5 speed.
  19. On my 38 Plymouth rear drums, I could never get the drums off, without bending an axle flange. I ground off the rivets. Drums come off easy now. That was over 20 years ago.
  20. It is good to have someway to move the car body around.
  21. Is this a styro foam, or foamcore type product? Styro foam, and related products are very good sound, and insulation products, as well as moisture proof. I found some 1/8 thick, very flexible material that was a package wrapper for a large TV. I used this 1/8 with the bubble wrap in my 38. I bought the bubble wrap at "Lowes", which was less expensive than what is offered in Auto Magazines.
  22. My book list the 6206 as a Dodge, 1953, 11-lb torque, for a V8 engine. My book list starters, 1942 to 1952 have 4.4 torque, to 6-lb torque. What year and type engine do you have??......I have a 6206 on my 36 Dodge engine 20 years now, works good.....
