  1. Buy a 'heat riser repair kit', in it is all the required parts to get it in working shape. Or just tack weld it in the horizontal position and call it good. Simple as that.
  2. You need to nip this canada thing in the butt tony. French as a second language, fugetaboutit. This party needs to adopt some of the Rhinoceros Party of Canada's policies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhinoceros_Party_of_Canada
  3. It was likely some low grade stuff, I would say no more then 125 proof. You would need a bit better setup then a pot still to get higher. Also it looks like the pot is a plastic bottle with some pvc comming out the top painted copper. I bet he just filled them up with everclear to seem cool.
  4. For the flow test you can run it into a garbage can with marks at each gal or 5 gal (depending on the size of the can). For the fill run a garden hose into the fill port letting it overflow if it wants but not into the can. As the can fills record the time the water passes each mark. This should give you a fairly acurate result.
  5. I'd say you already have a better resource. Intellegent, helpful, constantly updated, and sometimes out of the box thinking.
  6. Is there another place to view this? Quicktime is the devil.
  7. Nice work there Frankie. On my street the mailboxes are on the houses so I don’t get to have such fun. But there was a guy in the area, I believe it was last year or so, that kept having the plow truck knocking down his mailbox. He rented a bobcat and dug a 4 or 5 foot hole to put a decent sized I beam into. The next time the plow came by and hit it the mailbox it tore the side boom off the truck. Last I heard of it he was fighting erie county to not have to pay for repairing the truck.
  8. I just got to the doors and window seals. My side sweeps were totaly gone save for the bit of metal that attaches to the door. The metal on the bottom of the windows are fairly rusted. Made for a good time removing them because they had swelled and wouldnt fit out the top of the door. Are there any good places to get side sweep replicas that are close to the orignals? All Ive seen that were labeled as such were the ones on Steele. Someone else had mentioned Restoration Specialty Company of Windber, PA but I didnt see anything older then the 70s.
  9. Looking forward to the progress report w/ pictures. Its like learn to paint w/ Joe. Did I miss what you did to fix that fender dent that you couldnt get to srink out?
  10. I'm a bit offended that you think young people just have no idea. I got my car when I was 17 and have been working and learning ever sence. My parents had not even been a twinkle in my granfather's eye. Working on the car has actualy improved my knowlage of newer cars and how they work. Seeing as knowing where you come from and all that. It saddens me that you have gotten everyone here yelling back and forth. I hope that we dont loose a good member because of what you have incited. Please go back to writing one line wants and needs. It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
  11. Is the increse in output and temp not acceptable in some locations? Has anyone looked into an LED solution for gage lighting? No temp issues with low power draw and higher output candles.
  12. Nice find or memory. Its really true that the internet holds the answers to all questions...42
  13. Its been up for a bit now. Beautiful car for certain. I hope it goes to a good home.
  14. OXYCLEAN!
  15. Brass is non-ferrous meaning that it does not contain an appreciable amount of iron. Brass would be better in low torque aplications, as stated prevously, for its built in anti seze qualities.
  16. Whatever gets things flowing and moving, correct?
  17. The oil pump should push oil around the system when you run the starter. It wouldnt be at operational pressures though. As for the crank in the lube that would be not all that great to have happen. It can foam the oil and decrease the efficancy of the motor. Oil gets to the bearing surfaces on the crank by passage ways in the crank. Thin film bearing surfaces are pritty cool. High cycles with out the metal on metal contact issues but i digress.
  18. On the main website under reference in the left side. The main page has some good stuff on it that you should check out while you are there too. Or this handy link: http://www.merc583.addr.com/mopar/framesets/referenceframeset.html
  19. The studs in the block will not allow you to clear the intake. If the studs are out too you may be able to slip it down and out. The only other thing that I can think may hinder you would be the valve cover bolts stick out quite a bit and there is about an 1/8in lip there too. If the bolts come lose it is easy to remove and reinstall them both. Why do you need/want to remove just the one?
  20. The Wiki wouldnt be a bad idea to acompany the forum. Anything that puts orginazation to the information would be nice. Id use it, but it would still require the use of a search and isnt that the root problem anyway?
  21. What is stuck on it? Mine was sitting for a while and the clutch disk stuck to the flywheel. All that was needed to be removed was the bell housing pan. I rigged the clutch pedal down and gently worked it free with a plastic puddy knife. Using the starter to rotate the flywheel as I worked it free.
  22. Most fourms that I've been on have a hand full if not more moderators. This board is a bit more modest then those as far as size goes though. Is there or has there been talk of adding a few helping hands to the ranks to help out as needed?
  23. I think I got the pressure plate and disk from andy b.
  24. Yeah I know those stickeys are there and they are helpful pointers back to the main page. What I was thinking of was user written how tos of things like: -Installing window rubber -Disk Brake Conversion -Shoe Aligment w/ and w/o the most holy brake tool -OD Trans Swap -Steering Box Rebuild -Distibutor Frayed Wire Fix -Woodgraining Dash Ive seen some of this on the main page as people are working on something, witch is neat to see progression and discussion. After they have completed the project it would be nice if they were to write a complete how to w/ pics and tools nessary. If the how to is deemed awesome then it becomes a sticky with the other 4.
  25. Yeah do it till the man gets on your case. I had a cop follow me into my driveway for not using my blinker. I told him I cant find the switch.
