  1. Okay...well, I guess that explains it. I just thought for some reason it was supposed to open higher, but seeing that your trunks open the same I can be rest assured. I'll just have to cut off my legs at the knees or buy a construction hat.
  2. Those springs do look odd like that...almost like they are too long for it.
  3. No...the old trim piece looked like a pretzel. It was beyond repair, in my opinion. This new trim piece was an extra I had. I think it's really for the right side, but to me they basically look the same.
  4. Randy...I'll try to retake it in the sun tomorrow.
  5. As you may recall, a couple of weeks ago I munched my fender up while reversing out of a parking stall. Anyway, the fender has been repaired and the body shop matched the paint perfectly. The only problem is that something bled through the paint on top of the fender and I have to take it back to have it repainted. Other than that, you couldn't even tell that it had an accident. See what you think. BEFORE AFTER Bleed through
  6. I have the feeling that the trunk lid on my P15 isn't opening up as much as it should. Every time I get into it I usually end up whacking the back of my head as I back out. I noticed on that other P15 here in town that it's trunk lid opens higher. I've included some pics so maybe it can be analyzed why it only seems to not be going up all the way that it should. Is there an adjustment for this or not? Are the springs supposed to be crooked like this?
  7. David...that would a cool place to make into a pharmacy with an old-style lunch counter. As far as the photo, we need Rob and some of his friends walking in the background in their attire.
  8. I'm gonna say...2008?
  9. That's pretty cool, Pete. Hard to tell if it's real or not. The only thing I notice is the lettering "Aug 50" isn't the typical font the used on those kind of photos. This looks more like it was typed on.
  10. I don't know how old you are Tod, but this portion of old U.S. 60 was bypassed in 1952 by a new expressway, which is now I-10. So it hasn't been in use as a U.S. highway since then. Actually, it wasn't just U.S. 60, but also U.S. 99 and 70. I'd like to take this shot again, but with some more cars and a little Photoshop magic. BTW...the dinosaurs are still there in Cabazon, but now have buildings in front of them, so they are hard to see now.
  11. Pulled over for a rest on highway 60 near Palm Springs, 1948 (an abandoned portion of U.S. 60 at Whitewater, CA)
  12. Man, that's some pretty pricey "rust" he has.
  13. I'm with Robert...nothing looks better that repainting it original and having the rims match...classic Mopar style. The black and red looks too rockabilly. That will be a very nice shade of green when you get it repainted the same color.
  14. Well, I don't even remember opening up the valve since summer, and it still gets warm. I'll have to check tomorrow. Man, it gets pretty warm as it is with the control pushed in. I'd hate to see how hot it gets when I pull it out.
  15. Well, we don't get the same cold weather as a lot of you do in the mid-west and back east, but it can get pretty cold for us here when it gets into the 30's and 40's. My heater is a trooper...keeps me toasty warm after the car has heated up for five minutes. Still trying to understand the temp control, though. Is it supposed to get warmer or cooler when you pull it out? I can't seem to tell.
  16. This is actually pretty cool, but since my interior colors are gray, do they have a gray woodgrain pattern and color? Of course all the garnish trim and dash boards he used were from Ford and Chevy. Nothing for Plymouth or Chrysler. What is the woodgrain pattern that was used for the P-15 dashes and trim or is that something that has been posted before and I will be prompted to search for on here?
  17. Don- I see your point, but at the same time I don't, and here's why: Of course, if I see an item on Ebay that I really want, naturally I'm going to keep it to myself the best I can. Again, if I see an item that I feel will benefit people on here, I don't see the harm in posting it. How am I to know that you have your eye on it? Ebay is an open market to the world. In my opinion, sniper ware is a form of cheating. Like you said...why should the guy that didn't do his homework on Ebay for an item be given the benefit of having someone do his work for him? Makes sense, but on the other hand, why have a sniper service do the bidding for you when you should be at the computer fighting it out at the last minute like the rest of us do. If there is an item I want, I'm going to try my best to win in this last few seconds or if I can't be there, I will set the highest price I'm willing to pay and hope for the best. That's just how it goes. I'm sure others on here might agree with me, but will chose to stay out of it. Sorry if it doesn't sit right with you, but your way of thinking on this issue seems a little greedy to me and somewhat self-centered.
  18. Very true, and some day you may want to sell one of your precious clocks (that you bought for $20), and I guarantee you'll want more than $20 for them because you know what they are worth. Put yourself in the seller's seat. Don't forget there are also few members on here that sell on Ebay.
  19. Gee, Tim...thanks! I have been looking for a clock. Now see, if you hadn't posted this I wouldn't have known it was out there. Thanks for looking out! Three cheers for Tim!
  20. Bud...thanks again for sharing your Ebay info. At the moment I'm not looking for an overdrive, but if I had, I sure would have liked the fact that you were watching out for us and not greedily keeping the info to yourself. I don't know what got into Don and Tim because usually they are good guys, but this time, I feel, they are in the wrong. Darin
  21. Reeeeeeeallly! First of all, who said he was bidding on it? He merely just wanted to share the information. How in the hell does he know who's looking for an overdrive an who isn't? Does he just randomly chose people to PM. Sorry, Don and Tim, but until it's stated in the forum rules that posting an active auction is prohibited, I don't see a problem with posting them. It's sure helped me out at times being notified on here about a certain item up for bid. Sorry, but I just don't see your theory on this one. Again, it's not a matter of someone being lazy and not searching on Ebay 24/7 (some of us work and don't have the time to search)...it's about helping others out and bringing something of possible interest to their attention. Why do some people have to be so flippen anal?
  22. Aw, pay no mind to him. I think that was pretty neighborly of you to do that. Many guys are looking for overdrives and can't be everywhere at once. It's all about helping one another out on here, and that means giving "heads up" as well.
  23. My first major fender bender I got today, and it was all done by little ol' me. I took the Plymouth to work today because I needed to take it to a guy who is helping me fix the fuel gauge. Anyway, as I pulled out, I had forgotten that one of those steel pillars that keep cars from entering a certain area was by my side. As I backed up, I was looking back and then heard a crunch! I was so pissed, and embarrassed because the kids at school saw and some were laughing...etc. Anyway, below are the results. Went to a couple places for an estimate and was referred to a guy from a friend that does excellent body work. The first estimate was from One Day that painted my car originally. By the time they were done, it almost came to $1000 (that's including fixing a small dent on the back passenger side fender). A friend of mine referred me to a good auto body near by and he will do both fenders for $200 less. It's gonna hurt, but it's still a damn good price, I feel. Ok...now I'm gonna go lay down and be depressed.
  24. Strange...I thought rumble seats were out by '39.
