  1. Which frost plug, there are 5 on the side and 1 in the rear, where engine meets clutch housing. You need 1 5/8 concave disc plugs, use some sealant, and set with ball peen hammer. Or for a quick fix, you can use rubber type expansion plugs, for temporary until engine is up and running, have done that before. Elaborate more on what's going on and where..... have a look here http://www.dormanproducts.com/c-354-expansion-plugs-quick-seal-rubber.aspx
  2. Hey all, I have the following for sale, on a local portion of a national selling site. I have 1 1955 Dodge 1 ton rolling chassis with 251 L head engine, trans diff, wheels etc. Also included is a 1956 Fargo 108 inch frame with modern 8 1/4 diff, good front end and steering, plus cab, doors are crap, front fenders, hood, inner fenders need work. The box is there, no rear fenders or tailgate. This is also a rolling chassis. I am asking $300 for the lot, which also includes some modern stuff from an 80s Dodge truck, I am hoping to get $250. So far lots of inquiries, 2 looked at it, all figure they should see a complete truck, ready to throw a battery and start, geesh. I am considering removing all I may think I can use, and haul the rest to the smelter 7 miles from home, where it is worth $165 per ton... link to add http://winnipeg.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1956-Dodge-Other-Pickups-W0QQAdIdZ412766800
  3. Lookin Good Ed, nice truck, what is the big plan for it now? PS, how much is the rental fee for the trailer, in your area?
  4. Hey all, have lowered my truck, meaning removed the 3 inch blocks from the rear leafs. All new shocks, older radial tires, ride is much improved, but still is a truck, no complaints, but that is okay. I plan to use the truck, as a truck, so not planning to remove any leafs. The kings pins are decent, all suspension grease zerks lubed, a couple would not take grease, even with clean zerks. I need 2 outer tie rod ends, and steering will be great. How many of you keep something for weight in the box? I may go that route to smooth it out a bit. I can say this, these trucks are fun at 60 plus mph, mine seems to like 50-55 mph, even with a 3.23 diff.
  5. Tim Adams may be able to answer this question for you. It is a 2 wire sender correct?
  6. Anyone know if the 55 or 56 Dodge 1/2 ton trucks came with 15 or 16 inch rims/tires,. or both. Just trying to find out, but do not have a shop manual,YET....
  7. I concur, Bob is a great Guy, both of us come from the same line of work, so we had common ground right off the bat. Bob hang in there, were all pulling for you Patty, and Cooper. Hopefully Bob will be able to at least read some of these well wishes, there were certainly plenty of facebook..
  8. You may have to piece together some from donor boards. You could use some beefy sheet metal, and hand stamp the divots, and weld into place. Piecing together, may be the answer, if nothing is available at a sane price.
  9. Hey, decided about an hour ago to make some front mud flaps to keep the darn "magnesium chloride" dust control off the the bottom of door and running boards as much as possible. Here they are, made from 32 ounce reinforced rubber, I had laying around, quite thick, but I cut to shape and installed....
  10. Bob, has been going through his treatments, but things have been rough, but He is pulling through. I just left a message on His Facebook wall, and let Him know we are all pulling for Him. Send your well wishes, prayers etc Bob and His Wife Patty's way
  11. I know with my "1" wire GM alt, all is working well, put on the battery tender not long ago, it was full charge in minutes, so the alt must be keeping the battery up to snuff. I could have gone the 3 wire route with a GM alt, but chose this rebuilt alt, employing a self energizing module. Apparently if they are not in use fora period of time, you need to excite the alt again with battery wire. I have not had to do this,I have no idea how long this unit will last, Don has 1of these, how many miles does he have on his? I suppose GM uses all 1 wire hook-ups, used to be for the idiot light, these 1 wire types are all modified 3 wire alts, aren't they?
  12. Hey are you at the Garden City Show by chance, I should went too, only 25 minutes from my door.
  13. OR save the 12 volt genny, and go to any auto electric and get a GM 1 wire volt pos grnd alternator. Then fab or buy the universal bracket, no VR to deal with either. I have some 6 volt pos grnd VRs around too...
  14. Just get a 6 volt genny, I probably have one around here, but shipping would be pricy. Don't ruin a 12 volt genny, trying to convert it to 6 volt, save it, in case you ever go to 12 volt, which is a dream compared to 6 volt, I have both and still prefer 12 volt on hot days for hot starts. My 6 volt system is preemo, but does not compare to my 12 volt system in the 55 Fargo...
  15. Voltage regulator, or genny, or main harness to these, need attention. Don't go messing with the VR adjustments, until you run some tests with voltage meter. Charge your battery, and then test what your dishing out voltage wise, then post your findings. I also suggest you do a search and see if you can get any info to compare with. Your new battery could be a dud too, but you will find this out with voltage output test
  16. Would on my engine, as I have the connection for it...
  17. So far good brakes, even when i was hauling my loaded utility trailer today...
  18. Hey, go this sign from dump, it is sorta vintage, made in 1971, at my work place too. This sign pre-dates metirc KMH postings. I go this an 2 vintage quarts of oil in cans, still full too...
  19. All good points, how about reflective mirror type tape lining the park light housing, and even placing some inside the tail lights, on the body, and in the housing itself? I would think that would reflect like crazy...
  20. Nice pics, even see" Old Glory" flying proudly behind the 58 Poncho. Hey wheres the Maple Leaf???...LOL
  21. He already has the fog lamps switched, what he is trying to accomplish is to incorporate the fogs with signals lights for day use. Then if he turns the switch on for the fogs, it closes the circuit from the signal circuit
  22. That's a very good method Jim to incorporate the tail lights to the brake light circuit, and to allow signals to work with all. The 7 wire signal stat essentially does this with a very simple set-up. Greg wants to use His front fog lights in the signal circuit by day, those fogs have a lot more amp draw than the signal bulbs, will that work with the thermal signal switch? He also does want the fog light circuit broken, anytime He turns on the switch for the fogs. The set-up you have, which is what I will use with my 47 Chrys with factory 3 wire signal switch, allows the brake lights to work on all 3 lamps, tail lights and stop lamp. Once signal switch is turned on in either direction, it allows the corresponding tail light to flash, but not the stop lamp or opposite tail light to flash.
  23. I think you would need some type of relay in the circuit from the fogs, and diodes too. This way the circuit from the signal switch, can be broken when the fog light sare powered on, and the diode, would not allow current pass the diode to the fog lamp switch, while your using the fogs in conjunction with the signal lights. This would require some type of normally open- normally closed relays, open when the fog light switch is off, and open when they are on, or vice versa, used to know a Guy who could draw you a schematic for this. Maybe Tim Adams might have an idea...
  24. Anyone know what these belong to? Found them in some of my parts junk, lenses are glass bezels are stainless..
