  1. Jon, make sure that core is good and clean, leak free, or have it recored. For winter, you want that little sucker to heat, run a 180 t/stat, not a 160, get yourself another heater too, and run dual heaters, 1 for defrost and 1 for heat....
  2. Came across this on Allpar website. This detailed instruction shows how to build a very simple, effective low-cost Voltage reducer for gas and temp gauges. Here is the Link. http://www.allpar.com/history/mopar/electrical2.html
  3. That looks like the terrain around here.
  4. Jeff, you definately have sawdust in your veins. very high quailty built.......
  5. Geesh, and I thought I was cheap Jon.......LOL

  7. California Dream, on a Winters Day.....................
  8. Mrry Christmas. Not sure you have done the following, test both leads to sender unit from gauge, check hot wire to gauge itself, verify the gas tank grounded? I would try this sender without installing, make sure all wiring and connections are good, tight and clean. If you have a spare gauge, bench test sender unit to verify. Go with a systematic process of elimination. Good luck and keep us posted
  9. We have had 1 of the coldest Decembers on record. Very little salt in my area, outside of the major city. Dry super cold, not going to hurt the sheet metal on this truck. I would not drive any vintage car in the salt belt areas either. Manitoba,Sask and Alberta can be wicked cold and dry, a lot of old cars and trucks in rural areas survived without rusting to badly for this reason. A lot of floors got rotten not from salty roads, but from laying on the ground with weeds growing under tham....
  10. Hello, and Merry Christmas to all, this is a question for the car and truck owners. How many of you drove your old mopars today or this evening? I took mine out for a spin after dark, outside temp 5 above, dark frosty, just went for a 5 mile drive, but enjoyed it. These bias ply tires are fun on a bit of slick icy roads, so took it easy. So for you that drove the Old Mopar this Christmas eve, hope you enjoyed it......
  11. Location, and when was the pic taken. looks like 3/4 crushed limestone...
  12. I have thought about this potential scenario, this must be quite rare. i was going to go with a stock repop before going with this idea, would they be any safer?
  13. I ship directly to Mikes Parcel Pickup at Pembina ND, which is 1 hour south of here, they charge $5 each shipment, I either go, or many others where i work do the same, and they pick it up and bring it to me. Living in the border towns would be so convenient...
  14. Hi Mike yes I concur, my thoughts were this, would the rheostat crate any arc in the gas tank, which is not likely. My gauge functioned fine while testing with 12 volts, it is from a 6 volt set-up, wonder if I really need a voltage dropper for it.
  15. Hank, will painting it with Trusty Tremclad rust paint with hardener... Hi Bob, yes flipped it around, the MC is made in the USA, the good part about it. Nope, no duty, I have a US address, along the border, this time, no GST/PST was applied, bonus....PS no duty on goods made in NA, but GST/PST for your province.
  16. Sidenote, are these universal sender s safe to use in this application, as stock senders the rheostat is up close the mounting flange, and does not get submerged in gasoline, as the universal type do....
  17. hey all ordered a new MC and front brake hoses from Rock Auto, Raybestos, hopefully US built and Dorman chinese brake hoses. The master was $93, hoses were $7 a piece. I have to reverse the lid on the master,so the fill cap lines up with access hole in truck floor, anyone else have to do this?.....
  18. Well close to a year later. I ordered a mopar 73-10 ohm range fuel sender from Tanks.nc, made by Classic Instruments on the tag. I did undo the top plate and fit on the stock sender cap, have not cut sender float arm, or anything else, untill I drop the tank and see what I need to do. I did test the gauge however, it works well, had to tweak the sender arm range to get the gauge to go to empty and full, but no big deal I did all this on 12 volts with no issues with the gauge, maybe it will be fine without a voltage dropper, but will order something just in case.
  19. Thanx Dave will have to keep on the look out for some up here.....
  20. Robert, I don't mind winter is it is not severely cold. Now I can understand the desire to be in the tropics though, Canada could have bought Turks and Caicos some years back, maybe they should have....
  21. For many years in Canada it was always , 4 imperial quarts or 5 US quarts, add 1 quart for oil filter in US, and 1 imperial pint for Canada,. My Fargo 251 engine with oil filter takes almost 5 litres to full mark, with an oil filter in the equation.
  22. Thanx for keeping me in mind.
  23. Maybe, but They are as rare as hens teeth I have discovered, finding in preemo shape you will pay big buck$ for them. They made a whole lot less of these than Dodges..
  24. with the only thing missing uck, did I say that...........LOL oh you meant the other "F" word ord........geesh
  25. I like the alloy wheels Tim, on certain applications, what you are building looks good from my place. I might consider some alloy wheel and radials for my truck too, have to be something I like. I do not have to have stock wheels and hubcaps, it would be nice but Fargo caps are very hard to attain a good set of 4...
