In a 47 Chrysler parts car found the following, 1 liquor bottle, cork top, 1 old Dr Pepper bottle, ashtray full of old non-filter cig butts. and some kinda old loan payment receipt. I have found the odd old coin, and in Canada prior to 1966 dimes, quarters and 50 cent pieces were real silver....

And imagine that, it has red rims and WW tires.......

Hank, adjust em up like Bob mentioned, and put some miles on with periodic minor adjustments. Do this once you have all air out, an MC i correct working order. I did this with my ex 47 Chrysler, and after a some wear and added minor adjustments , the world was happy. I know where you live, and having good brake response is a must. Either get these to work well, or convert to front disc for added safety and brake response...good luck PS back brakes may lock up much easier, for 2 reasons, dual WCs, much more efficient, and a lot less weight in the box....

up to .030, or a total circumference measurement of 10.060, larger trucks may allow to .080 oversize...

I agree, and this has worked well for me.

Infected Virus Files When I Opened Off Topic Section
55 Fargo replied to 55 Fargo's topic in P15-D24 Forum
Hi, while i understand and recognize how scanners work in the background. In this event, it blocked immediately whatever "virus" tried to download onto my computer. I have no idea what on this website, but with all the advertisement, possibly could have been some malware attached, no website is exempt these days.. -

Nice, dark to navy blue would also be nice accent colors on those wheels -

GTK, I opened the "Off Topic" section scrolled down wioth mouse, and bingo Avast virus interception poped up, I dida boot scan and the 2 Virus files were dealt with. Was this coincidnece, have not idea, but that's exactly how it happended. I had no other tabs or programs running at the same time either...... -
Hey all, without starting a "hysteria", when I opened and was browsing in the off topic section about 30 minutes ago, set off my anti-virus software big time. I did an immediate boot scan, 4 infected files. I am not saying this site is virus laden, but I was on this site when this occurred. I am not going back into to Of Topic, so am posting this hear for now. Just a heads up...

Red Rims or Black Rims or Body Colored Rims
55 Fargo replied to 55 Fargo's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
Took those red rims and WW tires to work. Bead blasted, painted gloss black, and tries remounted, with a lot less lead weights. The new "black tux" look for Fargo trucks....I like em -
Yup, generally this is true, not puttin down, what you have , just looked uo this particular unit, and found the reviews.Glad it is workin out for you....

Check the resistor pack under the glovebox, for the heater blower motor, usually they stick on 1 speed full blast though. The blower motor is not too bad a fix

Here is a reviews for Spectre fuel reg on Amazon. Not to complimenting of this unit, too bad because the idea seems solid.. http://www.amazon.com/Spectre-Performance-2517-Pressure-Regulator/product-reviews/B000CQ46H0

Surely this " hot start issue"' is not related to all Mopar flathead 6 cylinder engine owners. There are plenty who live in areas outside of the LA area who experience major hot weather, even in the northern climates, albeit for much shorter duration 90f is 90f , 100 f with a 115 humidex is the same in Georgia, as it is in St. Louis. This issue is not unique to the Mopar flattie world, many carburated gas engines suffer these hot weather hot starts from many different manufacturers. Common complaint, engine starts great when cold, or when weather is cooler, warm starts on hot days, becomes an issue. Hotter engines and under hood conditions, hot intake manifolds, fuel lines exposed to high heat, carbs heated up to above normal temps, this all results in modern gasoline doing strange things, like expanding, causing flooded carbs, boiling and what is a condition of boiling "VAPOR", which impedes fuel to flow through and an area where there is now vapor, rather than liquid gasoline, much like any water type pumps losing prime. This problem and discussion goes on in many different vintage vehicle forums, from cars to planes, and maybe even old trains, but in all of those cases it does not happen to everyone. Engine cooling temp, unless being excessively high, do not seem to be the entire culprit, 180 or 160 t/stat, the engine will go to it's normal running temp with either, the t/stat only opens to allow coolant to flow to the rad at a lower temp, but eventually it will arrive at it's normal operating range, running a 160 or a 180, could give you the same 175-185 engine temps on warm days, 160 begins to open around 155f, and it fully open at 180 anyway, a 180 opens at 175, and maybe fully opened at 200, but would regulate closer to 185 perhaps . So a 160 t/stat does not guarantee an engine temp of 160 on a 90 above day, it only allows the flow to start sooner, thats all. The intake and exhaust manifold arrangement, has a lot to be desired, these intakes can get real hot, allowing carbs to boil, THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE IF THE HEAT RISER FLAP IS STUCK IN THE WRONG POSITION, for any reason, exacerbating the situation buy a 1000% on a hot day. The under temps, modern fuels, that boil easier, winter blend fuels that do this type of thing in warmer weather. Members on both boards need to chime in on here who drive there flathead vehicles on hot days, in hot weather and on a regular basis, those who do not, really cannot offer much insight into this problem and it's solution. My 55 Fargo with a 251, has a stuck heat riser, makes a real hot carb, is a real pain for hot starts on hot days with hot under hood temps, I now have a donor set of manifolds to fix that problem. A carb and fuel pump must be in good order, ignition too, with coils and condensers in particular. If a cooling system is not in good shape, this of course makes high underhood temps and need to be addressed also. 12 vol systems IMO, start much faster and easier in the heat of the day, not saying anybody has to convert, but I have had both, and it is a big difference. Look forward to others chiming in with there success hot start solutions and stories.....

A guy on the HAMB customizing a '48 Plym coupe

Howa about a 2.0 litre Neon Hemi engine for this project..........LOL okay just kiddin I don't get too hung up on replacement engines and drivetrains, especially if the intended vehicle was an old wreck anyway. To each there own I say, a nice clean cherry stock, should remain stock, beaters and major projects, anything to get them mobile. I would not actually mind a slant 6 and 727 trans in y 55 Fargo, love thos engines, and they can be made to have a lot more snap than a Lhead 6 if you wanted too....... -
Very sorry for your misfortune Chris, but in short order you will retrieve the old girl. No doubt that rough road, extreme cold has takin some toll on those components. You and jerry, are still very courageous men, driving this old car into "no mans" land, it's 1 thing to drive man miles where there are service and parts along the way, but driving in isolated areas is quite another. Take care and look forward to the next part of this adventure....

Nah, got 1 already, so will leave it for someone else. A very good Guy(forum member) and His wife sent me 1 just like it as a few years back, still have it, part of my collection of treasured items...BTW it's not just any ragtop, it's a T&C ragtop, ever see one in person, a sight to behold, no a gent up here who has 2, and 1 he bought in 1958, very cool cars...

1 other thing Chris, any of the hoses to the auxiliary heater, hidden from view and may be leaking? 1 gallon in 200 miles seems like a lot, gotta be leaking out or burning out...
-
no external coolant leak, coolant loss , points to internal cool leak, and possible combustion burning of coolant, if not contaminating oil.The antifreeze solution most likely good to -40, should be fine, even if only to -30, it may gel, but not likely. I have driven many times this winter in much colder than -20, with -45 probably the lowest, once engine heats up just fine. The symptoms you describe are very indicative of an air pocket, coolant level is low, wild quick temp fluctuations, much like refilling the entire cooling system for the 1st time. head gasket??? intake/exhaust manifold gasket leaks???? I hope all goes well, and this is a temporary problem you can diagnose and cure. Great pics and dialogue as usual....

Wife and kids bought me a set of personalized license plates for Christmas. On a cold January night, we were sitting around thinking of slogans, well 55 Below was 1 of the choices, and it fits this region this winter. I have experienced -40 to -45, but never -55, 2 nights ago, we had a close -48 windchill at -32f, very bitter cold. Here is the plate.....
