We went for a US car show here in Germany today. They awarded 5 trophies, Best of Show, Rat Rod, Modern Car, Longest Distance and Oldie but Goldie. There were a lot of awesome cars here, 59 Cadillacs, 50ies Corvettes, Chargers, Cudas, Mustangs, Lincolns... but hey, the ol‘ Dodge made it !

I can't be sure, but I think the spring is to pull the bearing back so it's not rubbing on the pressure plate fingers all the time. That makes the most sense to me. I wouldn't want to have my throw out bearing doing that. Only takes that small (but relatively strong) spring to do it.1 point

My engine on the run stand before it was installed in my '49 Fargo. 265, shaved about 1/8" off the head, reground cam and slant 6 distributor swap. A good friend did the welding and I made up the linkage. Sounds nice and drives nice. Extra horsepower? Yes. How much? don't know.
