  1. My love of old cars started with the Model T. I have a 27 Roadster and a few others. The Model T driving experience is not one I’d offer to just anyone however! I sold a 27 tudor to a guy and gave him the whole driving lesson. A week later I got an email describing how he pressed down on the low pedal thinking it was the brake, drove into another car then took his foot off the pedal. I am glad he didn’t send me a photo. My philosophy of old cars is we are stewards of them for the time we have with them. They can certainly out live us if we are careful with them or we can destroy them in a split second. When you consider the history of the world since your 26 was made it is remarkable that it is still here, let alone the human race. When someone goes on about how they want to put their Plymouth body on an S10 chassis, I cringe. That ole Plymouth could live on for decades and still be a nice car. Once someone “modernizes” it, it has taken a big step to the scrap yard. Consider the car magazines of the 1950s. Where are all those “Customized” cars that graced the magazine covers now? Survivor cars got that way because of the stewardship of a chain of owners. In some cases it was just benign neglect that contributed. Cherish your old car and it may out live you!

  2. Not if you use remote reservoirs that are easily accessible.

  3. a good stereo would be of benefit here or an aptly mounted exhaust cut out......I quit showing due to the fact that the audience is free to roam and I am locked in place till the event is over. I will never put myself in such a position again. I will make the cruise-in, come and go as you wish when you wish...21 years since I place a car on display at a show and 21 years since I even attend to view said shows. The finished car even my own are less entertaining than that of a bare naked project car parked on the back fence.

  4. the belcrank is marketed by one of the leaders in braking for hotrods and racing.....many case it is better defined as a cantilever. Adding to some of the comments here, even my own, do not overlook the simplicity and ease of maintenance that a remote reservoir offers, and most popular master cylinder designs have some aftermarket support for this application also.

  5. A couple more pedal thingies ended up in the garage over the past few months. First up is the Old Phart Lefsa Special. It was built up from two different Scandinavian bicycles. The Orange step through frame is a Danish built Everton. The wheels and rear rack are from a Finnish Tuntari bicycle. It has a Sachs 3 speed coaster brake hub. As I'm still in recovery mode from a broken ankle, I've just managed a ride down the driveway. I'm hoping to get the okay to hit the bike paths by the end of the month. The other is a 1970 French Mercier 100 I picked up as a basket case at motorcycle swap meet a couple weeks ago. I've loosely slapped it together to see what's there, what's not, what's good, and what's shot. I've seen worse for more money. Because of my ankle, the Desoto is about 45 days behind schedule for it's annual first run of the year.

  6. you should be able to do a search here, this is not a cop out in any manner but there are tons of ways of doing this and in truth, how handy are with your hands and what tools are at your disposal. The job can range from just a C note out your pocket to that of a Franklin family reunion.

  7. Okay, all it needed was a longer magnet with a DIY self-straightening WD-40 spray can rod. It was at the very far end of the cylinder 😱😅

  8. Ach, I'll admit I'm the a-hole driver...in many other drivers' eyes. Speed limit, turn signals, obey traffic laws, "usually courteous" (nobody's perfect), etc. But I don't do it out of a sense of virtue, it's more like...spite! I know it annoys the heck out of bad drivers to no end.
