BloodyKnuckles Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Well the 2nd Annual Anti-BBQ, GearHead Get-Together went great!! ...a little history on the event... My wife, Heather and I moved into our house about 2 years ago and decided to have a few gearhead friends over to celebrate my birthday. Well as we all know it seems as BBQ is an overused term here in the south. Every party or happening is BBQ related and I got a bit overwhelmed. I don't mind BBQ but I don't like southern style. So we decided the first year to call the event "The 1st Annual Anti-BBQ...North VS South". We had both northern and southern style BBQ. Well the food was awesome. We had about 40 cool cars, a few bikes and a bunch of people. For the next few months after the party we had many people request an invite to next years event. ...enough of the stupid history BS... This years event was large in scale to last years. We probably had close to twice as many cars and a hell of alot more people. We had a friend supply a drive-in movie screen and soundsystem playing music during the day and vintage hot rod movies at night. We also had fireworks at the end of the evening. Instead of birthday cake we kept with the "North VS South" theme and had Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme battle it out!!! MMMMMM donuts!! I am sharing this story with all of you because we appreciate and respect the hell out of our friends and friends are what keep this awesome hobby of ours strong. So this the least we could do. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoyed everyone... Yes that's our very own Bill Willard! BloodyKnuckles Quote

Bodacious Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Nice bunch of cars and trucks. I'll take the northern BBQ and the KK donuts, please! Quote
steveplym Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Awesome! That looks like a lot of fun. Didn't worry about awards or magazine photos, just got together and had a blast with your friends. Not only that, but you had food too. BBQ and donuts, mmmmm... Looks like a bunch of nice cars there. greg g Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 All the Krispy Kreme places up this way are closing, DD kicking their butts and now we are getting Tim Hortons. Looks like a great time. That Buick wagon made me smile. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Great looking cars, all of them. Something cool about seeing cars sitting on grass, or green stuff at least. Makes them look like art even more. Very cool, Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 I would imagine a good time was had by all. Nice pics.....neat cars. The best donuts in our town (i m h o) come from a place called Dude's Daylight Donuts. Been around quite a few years, operated by a couple and their son & daughter-in-law. We have K K, but not my favorite. Guess I have not heard of a portable drive-in movie screen. Quote
Mr. Belvedere Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Love that Desoto very sharp! Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Ron; Looks like a good party and hope you had a happy birthday. You must have used big candles so they would fit in the donut hole. Good to see Bill Willard out and about after he bought a bionic knee. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Bloody awesome party, "Bloody"! I wish my back yard would some time look half as great as yours did in your party. The blue/white 1953 DeSoto 2D in the end of your 1st posting (7th pic.) looks stunning. All the details are perfect and styling simply cannot get better than that. Also the black chopped Plymouth with blue pinstripes is a work of art. Details in nice balance. Thanks for sharing the great party with us! Quote
