Howard Tarnoff Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I am looking for a way to install and emergency brake in my 49 Plymouth. There is a 52 Rag Top on the Bay for sale and the Brake setup is what I am looking for. Is this stock for a 52 Plymouth? If it is and anyone has one like this I would be very interested in the pull and the mounting bracket. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___SHOW-QUALITY-1952-CRANBROOK-CONVERTIBLE_W0QQitemZ320272344442QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20TrucksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320272344442&_trksid=p3756.m14.l1318 Quote
old woolie Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 It's identical to the one in my 51 Regent other than the handle. Mine is chrome. My 51 parts car has the plastic handle. Jeez that plaid interior is ugly. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 That's the correct handbrake for a '52 Plymouth. The '51's had a chrome handle instead of the ivory plastic. It's also about the 19th time the decapitated Cambridge has been offered for sale! Quote
Young Ed Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Thats the exact opposite of what we've seen. 51s with ivory plastic and 52s with stainless Quote
oldmopar Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 I have to go with Harold on this one my 52 P23 has the plastic ivory handle of which part of is broken off and I have one from a 51 that is chrome. I think it was one of the items changed in 52 because of the shortage of metal due to the Koren War ed Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 I have found that the 51 has the chrome handle, the 52 had the plastic and then the 53/54 went back to the same chrome of the 51...Korean war was the answer for the plastic I would assume...I just removed a chrome handle from a 53 unit to place on my 51 Plymouth..pulling the blind rivet was not bad..drill, tapp and then pull..the chrome on the mounting bracket from the 53 was a tad rough compared to mine...as a word of caution..don'tdrop this item..that is how my original broke..
