Valve Spring Compressor...whats the best?

There are a pair of valve spring compressors on ebay at present, am curious as to what sort people use.....any info appreciated.......thanks, andyd

This KD model 700 did the deed on several valves.

That looks like the one I have. Worked fine for me.

I have the one that looks like the big C clamp and it worked fine. So its users preference.

Thanks guys, my 230 arrived partially disassembled, all valves in a box, have done the odd OHV engine and used the standard G shaped compressor but was unsure whether it would work o/k as I have not played with a sidey, so will see if a borrowed G style will work........thanks again......andyd

The standard G-shaped compressor will work fine for installing/removing the valve keepers, but you will probably find that the other style of compressors also make it easier to install/remove the valve springs, which get hung up on the block casting, unlike overhead valve motors.

I had a couple that were unwilling to leave without some urging. I just put a large screwdriver between the coils and gave them a bit of a twist.

Yeah, I could get them out that way; the problem I had was getting them back in!
