...including Photoshop, have a "save for web" option. If you choose this option, it will show you either a single preview or multiple previews of your image with a control for changing the "image quality" with a slider. As you change the images size, the preview windows will automatically display the new Pixel count along with and updated preview of the image. This is a good way to modify your image for the web because you can both confrim that you have reached the maximum allowable file size and that the image quality is still suitable for viewing. Good luck!

If you open a Photobucket account (free) then you can resize them there and post here from Photobucket easily.

I can vouch for photobucket, at first I thought it was impossible but I quickly learned that it was possible and easy!!! :D

That all depends on what program you use to edit pictures. The book or help menu that came with that program should tell you how. Basically' date=' the picture is in pixies. So...........you can reduce the pixie size or like with the program I have and can say reduce the picture by a percentage. If it's still too large, I can reduce it again to a different percentage until the file size is small enough for posting here.

That said, I can also downsize the picture using the photo album program. I'm just use to Photoshop though so use it 99% of the time. Hope that helps you a little.[/quote']

This is why GTK must keep an eye on Norms postings:eek:

Pixie

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pixies (also Piskies and Pigsies as they are sometimes known in Cornwall) are mythical creatures of folklore, considered to be particularly concentrated in the areas around Devon [1] and Cornwall, [2] suggesting some Celtic origin for the belief and name. They are usually depicted with pointed ears, and often wearing a green outfit and pointed hat. Sometimes their eyes are described as being pointed upwards at the temple ends.

Characteristics

Pixies are winged human-like creatures often associated with England and Scotland.

Pixies are variously described in folklore and fiction. In the legends associated with Dartmoor, Pixies are said to disguise themselves as a bundle of rags to lure children into their play. The pixies of Dartmoor are fond of music and dancing. These Pixies are said to be helpful to normal humans, sometimes helping needy widows and others with housework. They are often ill clothed. [3] Lack of fashion sense has been taken by Rachael de Vienne, a fantasy writer, to mean that Pixies generally go unclothed, though they are sensitive to human need for covering. [4]

I didn't know that, Tim. I'll have to try that.

I've used Irfanview when I need to resize or add text...free and easy (for me :D )

If you are using Windows XP just right click on the picture (or file) you want to downsize. Chose the "Email Picture" option ..... choose a size you want (usually I click on "Show more options" and then choose "medium"). Then I just email it to myself and resave the file under a new (or slightly modified) name in a temporary folder. Then you can upload this "new" photo from the temp folder. It can't be much over 100K to work.
