Skrambler Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 Hello All! I need to find someone, or a good way to transport all four fenders, a hood, and a trunklid from a 1948 Plymouth to Minneapolis Minnesota, from Pittsburgh PA. Any help out there? All suggestions welcomed too! This stuff is not heavy, just bulky and large. PLEASE HELP! Thank you!!! Quote
oldmopar Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 Not sure what there size restriction is but I have found better prices on a bumper I shipped using fedex Quote
PatS.... Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 I had a 49 Chrysler front fender shipped into Canada from Washington state via UPS a couple years ago. Seller used an old refrigerator box and cut to size and wrapped it up. UPS had no problem with it. Quote
Olddaddy Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 I routinely ship large items via Greyhound. I sent four fenders from Florida to Washington State last year for $85. You have to package carefully as they travel under the bus, but they will get there. Quote
Kustom52Mopar Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 I've seen alot of guys use greyhound buses to transport fenders, it cost just under $50 to get a fender to St. Louis from Southern Texas. Just another suggestion Good luck Quote
greg g Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 If they will fit and be protected you may be able to put them on a palle t or two, and ship them common carrier. You would heed to get it to a local terminal, andy your buyer if not at a business adress would also need to get to the terminal nearby. If you can ship to a business address the rates are reasonable. Putting it ona pallet makes it easily moved about with a lift truck. so the back of a pickup or a flat bead trailer is a good thing for your buyer to have. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 I had 2 39-47 truck box sides and 2 front fenders shipped grey hound. I picked them up at the station in downtown minneapolis. Each piece was about $50 for shipping Quote
wayfarerstranger Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 it would probably be cheaper to buy a parts car closer to you ,,, it could cost several hundreds to ship all those panel Grey hound .. u might run an ad on craigslist in the area the parts are in and see if anyone is traveling your way . someone may be making run your way transporting some old cars and they could haul them for you .... you could make some kind of deal with them... Skrambler Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Posted June 9, 2008 Thank you all very much for all the great suggestions! I will check into GreyHound, and some other local trucking companies to see what the lastest is. Shipping all four fenders, the hood and the trunklid is basically the whole car, just quite a bit lighter. I would think that with these items, I would fill up the belly of the bus pretty darn fast, but who knows! Looks like I best rent a U-Haul to buy tape and bubble wrap too!!! The Craigslist idea was a good one too! I'll try that! Dodgepu1946, would you happen to be needing a road trip to beautiful S.W. Pennsylvania anytime soon? I'd make it worth your time! If any other ideas come to mind, please advise. Again thank you! Quote
