Don't need the clips, I have a couple dozen new rocker stainless clips in the box. Need to install some on the drivers side but forgot how the old ones were fastened onto the rocker. Thats why I ask if you could take a close up of one of the clips on the rocker. Quote

greg g Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Probably wired for signals. Hey Tim check the serial on that thing. If the tail light bezel reflectors ar white or clear as they show up in the pic (or is it missing) then that was a 46 only feature. Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Norm--those rocker trim clips take a bolt in the middle that goes into a threaded hole in the rocker. If those holes have been filled, then ya gotta attach by another method. As I recall, the rocker trim comes with a stud permanently mounted at the front - that goes thru a hole in the fender. Quote

A closeup of one under the door with the door open would be good. I know the front clip is bolted through the fender. Still have those holes, but all the others are gone because I replaced the whole rocker on the drivers side. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Thanks Tim. That shot is good enough to tell which end is up. Also found the fender clip interesting. Mine was almost all gone. However, whats left of mine looks like just the regular rocker clip. Didn't think that was right because the stainless is angled there. Looks like yours is more like it should be. Will have to make up a clip for the fender similar to the one you pictured. The original end bolt that was welded on the stainless is toast on my rocker stainless. (thats why I was afraid to take the other side off to look to see how its supposed to be). Think I'll just make one long fender clip tapered to fit for those two holes to slide into the rocker stainless slots. Should work as well as the original setup. I've seen those turn signal switches but don't know what they were off of. Quote

Don Coatney Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Greg..I think they are just faded red reflectors...and to answer others, the rear lights look to be cab lights as found on trucks..had similar attached to the front fenders at one time. If these old cars could talk..hard to say what has come and gone on this unit. Ed mentioned the turn signal may be stock factory as the Mopar name was not on it but another name was...will try to report back here later with the name...number decode says made in 1948 model year production run. Over all the conditionis ok...given its age and there is no sign of previous work on this body other than the signal lamps attached..that is one of the reason I bought the car...unmolested body. Now should I drop that 463 HP 440 in there or get the Kohler engine out of my John Deere lawn tractor..I have two 318's, one 360 and one 440 laying about the place...yeah yeah..still have a stock 230 and bunch of other flathead stuff here...killer is..I still perfer an automatic tranny Go with the Kohler or better yet get a Briggs and put a hydrastatic drive behind it. That will get you through the orchard in style:D Quote
