silverback Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 on my 51 b3b there is only one key lock for the doors and it is on the pass. door. Why? sorry for the stupid question it was just kinda bugging me. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 back when your vehicle was built you were to park with traffic and exit to the side of the road/street from the passenger door..ie the lock and key location Quote
oldmopar Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Surprised the auto manufactures have not brought this back the could call it a safety item and save the cost of a door lock. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 quiet..while it may be a good idea and safe etc..they would go overkill and eliminate the drivers door entirely saving tons of money...then where would you be?? Quote

Young Ed Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 Tim lots of cars now only have 1 because of remote entry. Only they are on the drivers side. Quote

I tend to agree with Tim's answer, the driver was expected to exit from the passenger side. Speaking of door locks, I bought my 51 B3B from Ketcum Idaho about 11 years ago and it had a non original ignition switch. I picked up an original ignition switch (with key) from a junk yard in Wisconson several years ago and today I took them both to a locksmith who informed me they were keyed the same What are the odds of that . Guest Dave Claussen Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 In an old thread someone from "down under" (Tony maybe) commented that their locks were on the left side because of the right hand steering wheel and they drive (and park) on the left side of the road. Dave Quote
